Other Things to Note

- Leave soiled and used items in a pile if possible.
-You can find a space to smoke on the grounds for smokers; yet please no smoking inside of cottage; just step outside.
-Take the time to rest, reflect, and get restored.
-If you have time, take a drive through this part of Central California and visit our wineries, farm stands, and downtown Lodi for food/ movies and other small towns. Great way to spend an afternoon.

My wife and I visited David and Mary on a weekend Lodi wine trip. Their property is beautiful, with wonderful trees, flowers and animals. The sheep are friendly and always bleating to be fed. Their dog Isis is really friendly. The room is spacious and has a well equipped kitchen. We ate out and only made use of the wine glasses. We made use of the patio which as well shaded and stayed quite cool even during a warm day. Mary was a great host (David was gone for weekend) and warmly greeted us. She made great winery suggestions. Perfect jumping off spot for visiting wineries.
Our stay was wonderful! David and Mary are wonderful hosts and made us feel like family the minute we arrived. Accommodations are perfectly described and we enjoyed every minute on the property.
The location was very convenient to many area wineries and local spots to enjoy.
We will be coming back!
Mary and David were Awesome! So very warm, welcoming and accommodating. It was like they invited us in to their family and their 4th of July celebrations, but we never felt pressured. Just friendly invitations and also recommendations of wineries to attend, and restaurants to try. Seriously, as soon as we met them they were like old friends. It was beautiful! Their cottage was beautiful, with a maritime theme of cremes and blues. It was air conditions and a lovely relief to the heat of the day, and clean. The grounds were just gorgeous! I loved that the little cottage had everything we needed to cook our meals. We drove out just 10 minutes to the city of Lodi, and enjoyed taking a short walk around with some ice cream, looking at all various murals, street sculptures, and quaint little shops. I will remember Lodi for its arts and wine. Lovely! The estate was so beautiful, I ended up doing some yoga in the grass next to the chickens and sheep, and later topped that off with a refreshing swim. The pool and diving board was a definite draw! I got to practice some standing acrobatics with my boyfriend. It was so much fun!! Their friend was also in town to visit, and had brought fireworks which we were invited to watch and enjoy. We met the family in the evening at their lighted gazebo, they had a great sound track going on, and invited us to some wine and dancing. The fireworks themselves were SO beautiful... that was AMAZING!! After the fireworks were done we ended up slow dancing under the soft lights of their gazebo... so romantic! A delightful end to a perfect weekend. Couldn't have asked for better!!
Host was excellent and property was great. Our dog had such a nice time playing with their friendly dog all weekend and was even allowed to swim in the pool! We were able to leave our dog in their nice large fenced in property while we went to vineyards during the day and out to dinner at night. Highly recommended!
David and Mary have a wonderful oasis just outside Stockton. We loved the property, the apartment and especially the pool! Very convenient access to Hwy 99 makes this an easy choice for activities in the area. Room was very comfortable and quiet. Thanks so much to David and Mary for sharing this wonderful spot.
Deb and her lovely young daughter were awesome guests. Since she has her own AirBnB listing along the coast, it was great to have her input as an experienced host. We are going to check out her place at the Mendocino coastline for the ocean view apartment and to check out that wine region as well.
It was so peaceful and quiet, just what we needed. So close to great wineries and our dogs loved roaming the property. Mary made us feel right at home and we would definitely visit again.
We booked the wine country cottage on the fly during our trip through California and planned to stay four nights to relax, hang out in the garden, read, enjoy the pool, attend some wine tasting, cook dinner and just chillax.
Mary and David were very responsive and we were looking forward to meet them, which we did not but their lovely and very helpful daughter Hannah. When we arrived we could not immediately get hold of someone but when sending a text the door was opened within minutes. Already outside the property we realized that it was very near to the highway and therefore as noisy as you would expect. We did not understand this from Airbnb's map as this shows only the approximate location...
The property is designed as shown on the pictures. The cottage is decorated with love and the kitchen is fully equipped. In the fridge fresh eggs from the chicken in the garden were waiting for us as well as water, lemonade, butter and fruits. The bathroom would profit from an update and one would enjoy more using it when brought to modern standard.
As we expected a Tuscany like silent, laid back environment we decided straight away that we would not wish to stay the entire four days as planned. Thanks to the help of Hannah (the internet did not work in the cottage), we could discuss our thoughts with Mary over the phone. She arranged with Airbnb that the stay was shortened down to two days.
The place is nice and although some things are a little outdated, it can be a good starting point for people who want to discover the Lodi wine country and do not have any issues with heavy traffic noise.
About the Host, David And Mary
Come to our beautiful, historic and most elegant estate with a lovely cottage for you in the Central Valley near the Lodi Wine Country and University of the Pacific.
We like to travel and do interesting stuff: last year we were pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago in España walking from town to town across the gorgeous Spanish countryside (actually the Camino de Ignacio). This was the most challenging yet transformational engagement we have done as a couple.
On weekends we may work the property along with tending to sheep, lounging by the pool, and restoring different aspects of Bella Donna. After a hard day's work we like to head over to one of the 40+ wineries in our community. We have a few favorites.
We are busy executives during the week, so Bella Donna is both a place for retreat and restoration. Our friends LOVE to come out to our home and stay in the cottage or the guest room for a restorative getaway.
