Casita Laurita was featured in the Great Homes and Destinations column of the New York Times.
Built on three stories with terraces on top, the 2-bedroom, 2.5-bath house is an easy and flat walk to the jardin, near language schools, and steps away from the town’s famous artisan market. Great cafes nearby, as well as an organic market.
The 1000-sq-ft house is Mexican modern style, built around a central courtyard, with clean design and exquisite details. The house has up-to-date amenities (iPod docks, flat-screen TV, wireless) and dreamily comfortable beds. The top terrace has a lovely 360-degree view of San Miguel and its famous Parroquia church. A second patio with lounge chairs is private and cozy, perfect for dreaming, surrounded with lavender, jasmine, and other scented potted plants.
A sunny studio with a 13-foot wooden desk makes Casita Laurita a wonderful retreat for a writer. The gourmet kitchen is a splendid spot for a cook who wants to explore Mexico’s cuisine.

Laura's house was perfect! We all loved it and would stay here again! Location was the best, so close to the center but far enough away to get quiet sleep. Her house manager was so helpful and arranged all of our airport transportation. The house itself is adorable, the pictures don't do it justice. I will be visiting SMA again and would book this Casita in a second!
We truly enjoyed our stay at Laurita's house, everything was perfect, from the location, to how clean and equipped the house was. Just as an observation if you're expecting three beds, you will only find two; which are amazingly comfortable and one sofa that is in the studio, very capable to satisfy your resting time. 100% recommended.
I can't say enough good things about Laura or her beautiful casita! Laura was most accomadating during a raher complicated booking process, but was able to make it work for me.
The home is amazing, tastefully decorated, spacious yet cozy. I was in love as soon as I stepped through the door (the curb appeal was just a preview).
Having been living in a hotel for the summer, I was so happy to have access to a well appointed kitchen, I was in heaven procuring goods from the local market and finally being able to cook a full meal.
When I return to San Miguel, there is not other place I would ever consider!
The home was a beautiful, well-appointed multi-level residence ideal for a family of four. The home's central location was perfect for exploring the city and was very near restaurants, galleries, sight-seeing highlights, and shopping.
The property is spotless. Twice-a-week cleaning and a generous supply of filtered water are provided.
One morning we were awakened early by the sound of heavy construction next door, an unnerving and unrelenting disturbance. Our host responded almost instantly to our e-mail message, alerting her local agent so that the problem was solved by the next day. We were offered a generous partial reimbursement as compensation for our one bad night. The speed and graciousness of our host's response to our concerns was appreciated and most reassuring.
The neighborhood is lively and very near the center so it's not surprising that noise -- other than construction noise -- was an occasional problem: rooster crows, cicadas, barking dogs, sometimes traffic. But this is a more or less expected feature of life for visitors to a colorful town in the heart of Mexico.
Overall the property is both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional with the two en suite bedrooms (each on its own level), a delightful inner courtyard, roof terrace, Wifi and a full kitchen. Its up-and-down construction offers a multitude of different sorts of spaces affording both privacy and opportunities for together time.
Me, my husband and in-laws had a wonderful experience at Casa Laurita. The apartment is both beautiful and comfortable -and the roof deck boasts a very pleasant/scenic view. The Artisans Market is a very short walk away and the square not much further -a great location. In addition, when I emailed with a few questions, Laura responded very quickly with answers. Overall, I couldn't imagine a more positive experience.
One helpful note to future summer travelers: bring or buy some bug spray when in San Miguel during the rainy season. (We got a bit eaten-up about the ankles.)
