You can enjoy a cottage with a private garden minutes walk from the vibrant town of Westport.
My one bedroom cottage is located on a hill overlooking, and 500metres from the town centre of the heritage town of Westport, Co Mayo. It is cosy and private with all necessary conveniences. Heating is from an oil fired boiler and an open fire supplied with ample logs. It has its own private meditation garden with a cosy smokers corner for the strugglers !
Westport, in the County of Mayo, Ireland is a magical town. Many have visited, returned home to pack their bags and move back to live, as I did 13 years ago! We boast an eclectic community who take a real pride in the town.
It is special, and acknowledged as such throughout Ireland, as the best place to live in Ireland. It has the appearance and feeling of a quaint small town but offers a wide range of amenities to worldwide visitors to suit all tastes and levels of fitness.
From playing a round of golf on a stunning golf course at the foot of our holy mountain Croagh Patrick, five minutes away by car or perhaps horse riding along the sandy beach a few miles away? The choice is endless.
Many visitors feel that they cannot leave without a Croagh Patrick climb. The sense of achievement witnessed by those who climbed is a delight to see. Less strenuous swimming, both indoors or out at a local beach is also available,
The newly developed 42km off road “Greenway” for cycling enthusiasts can be accessed minutes from the cottage. (Local rental available) As can a game of tennis, just at the end of my road.
The surrounding area boasts Clare Island accessed by boat for those who like quiet time or a visit to Achill Island with its striking cliffs and sandy beaches is an hour away by car
Westport House and Country Park is located minutes away. It is one of the most popular attractions in Westport with its extraordinary mixture of history, culture and fun for all the family. Consider a visit to the Westport House & the amazing Pirate Adventure Park.
Unique and charming, the heritage town of Westport is a captivating blend of traditional and modern. From the cosiest corner of an antique pub to state-of-the-art conference facilities; from the heart-stirring beat of traditional music to the cosmopolitan approach, contrast and paradox are just part of its charm.
The town boasts many excellant and some award winning resturants and coffee shops.
Many more attractions are available. Just too many to list here.

We had a wonderful stay at Katherine's cottage for 2. Conveniently located, peaceful and cleanly kept. Katherine is a fantastic host. She was kind enough to have two bowls of warm soup and a homemade loaf of bread ready for us when we arrived. We'll be back!
Hi, Catherine was very nice in welcoming us with a nice home made soup :) The Cottage was very nice and clean, and since it was really cold outside, the heating was set perfectly to warm us up. There was also a fireplace in case you want to put some extra fragrance for you evenings.
Katherine was the perfect host. She made us feel very welcome during our stay. The cottage is very cosy and is just a convenient 5 minute walk from the town. We would highly recommend her cottage for visitors to Westport.
The cottage in Westport has a lovely ambience and has everything you would need. Very comfortable and warm. Katherine was very kind and made a delicious soup for my arrival. It has a private garden and a view, additionally well located and easy to walk to town. Very good value for money. I had a wonderful stay.
This is a lovely place in a great area, quiet and secluded yet easy walking distance to town. I had a little trouble finding it because my Garmin failed to find the street but that certainly was not Katherine's fault. Just make sure to have your directions handy when you come into town.
The reservation was canceled 14 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
This is a very nice place to stay. It is a quiet little house in a nice area, close to the centre of Westport.
Kate was expecting us with a very tasty home-made soup and bread and it made us feel very welcome, almost as if we came to see our family :)
The place was clean and we found there everything we needed, even more - there was fruit and milk, yoghurt and some cereals...
It has a very homey feel. Both the living-room and the bedroom are very cozy and in reality look even better than in the pictures (which is rather rare :)
We stayed there with our one-year-old baby and it was a good place to stay with a baby.
There is a beautiful garden full of flowers and plants that are obviously taken care of with love.
Kate has a dog, however, even if you are not a dog person, Finnegan (the dog) is a very quiet and calm dog and he will certainly not bother you.
All in all, a lovely experience! Highly recommended if you are looking for a place full of harmony and with a very positive feel.

I was a social work manager and trainer until 2000 when I gave up my post to follow a healing gift. Since 2000 I have published a book about my work, Healing Visions, First-Aid for the Soul. I believe that our thoughts create our manifested world. No matter how seemingly "bad" our current situation, staying grateful is the key to pure joy.
