Interaction with Guests
I will be present in the main house for the duration of any guest stay. I am more than happy to help with any information about the local area or general questions.
Silverlake has a wonderfully eclectic array of people, restaurants and clothing stores. The beauty of this property, is that all these brilliant delights of the neighbourhood are all within walking distance.
If you intend on staying local to Silverlake then I wouldn't suggest that you need a car. But if you plan on venturing out into the depths of LA, then I would strongly recommend a car to get around easily.
Other Things to Note
Street parking is available.
We do not allow pets, due to already having 2 little puppies living here. The puppies (German Shepherd & Hound) are both extremely friendly, however if you do not wish to be around animals then the little guys can easily be away from where you will be staying. There is no smoking anywhere on this property. Thanks!
This place is everything it amounts to be and then some. A wonderful place that really made our L.A. stay. Virginia is very hospitable and she also has a couple of teenage dogs that you would want to meet. Thanks Jason and Virginia.
Virginia was the perfect hostess! I booked The Sanctuary as a place for my parents to stay while they were in town and they loved their stay. Virginia and Jason have created a lovely and welcoming place for their guests here. Not to mention her two dogs are adorable! It's in a great location for anyone visiting Silver Lake and is absolutely tranquil and beautiful.
It truly feels like a sanctuary in the midst of LA. I felt very welcome. Lovely place, just what I needed as far as a weekend getaway goes. Thank you!
My boyfriend and I had such a wonderful time at the pool house. We had lots of privacy, but Jason's (or Virginia's?) mom would occasionally check in with us and make sure we were doing well, which was totally appreciated! Parking was easy, and the neighbourhood is great, with some very cool new restaurants that are actually walkable. I miss the place (and I miss the dogs too!), and I will definitely be back! Thank you so much, Virginia and Jason!
We had the most delightful experience at The Sanctuary. The place was exactly as appeared in the photos, and Jason and Gin made communication easy as well as giving lots of great tips for the neighbourhood. We loved the laid-back, indie feel of the neighbourhood, went to gigs, ate great mexican, and did a few of the walks. We also loved the greetings from the friendly four legged friends! I'd describe the service as hotel level, little touches like fresh towels, speciality teas and lovely bathroom products made it special. There were lots of lovely personal touches that really made our stay incredibly enjoyable and memorable. Will definitely stay here again and recommend to friends.
This was the most wonderful/magical accommodation we could have asked for on our trip to LA. Jason and Virginia were unfortunately out of town when we arrived, but they informed us that Jason's mother, Maggie, would be hosting us for the weekend.... and she was WONDERFUL. We honestly could not have asked for a more welcoming host. We arrived after a bit of a debacle in Griffith Park (our car was broken into and luggage was stolen), and this place and Maggie's kindness was the breath of fresh air that we needed to set our trip back on the right path. She even baked us some wonderfully blueberry muffins upon our departure. The dogs were extremely friendly and lovely to have around. It was a joy to have the pool and patio at our disposal to enjoy and the neighborhood in general is quite the quintessential LA-living experience. Jason and Virgina had prepared a list of their favorite places in town for our perusal... and it was a great list, indeed. We loved the short drive to dinner at nearby Speranza. What a great find! We'd be happy to come back and stay with them on our next time in LA. HIGHLY recommended!
