Walk to Wesleyan University and downtown Middletown, a small city on the Connecticut River. Main Street is lined with enough restaurants to please most palates. This bedroom has a king bed and shares a bathroom with one other room. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen to store food that must be refrigerated. I am happy to provide morning beverages for anyone who wants them. Please let me know when you book. I usually cannot accommodate last-minute bookings.

The space

Clover Nook is set next to a ravine complete with a creek that can become a torrent in the spring. It is a two-family house with a door between the kitchens. The space is very flexible. I can offer one or two bedrooms with access to the kitchen. The large bedroom (this listing) is at the back of the house, has a king bed, and faces the rising sun. The room does not have curtains (it faces a ravine and privacy is not an issue), so people who need absolute darkness to sleep should not book this room. Guests in this room share a bathroom with guests in the small bedroom.

Guest access

Guests are welcome to use the kitchen to store food that must be refrigerated. The house has wireless Internet, but we do not have TV. When the weather is good, guests are welcome to use the garden and the back area. I hesitate to call it a patio because it is where I pot plants, but it is where we grill and build fires. We have a battered fire pit and plenty of wood.

I work at home, so my office is pretty much off limits, but everything is negotiable.

Interaction with guests

I will be in the house during your stay, so if any questions or problems arise, please let me know.

Other things to note

Recently, two guests expressed concern that room doors cannot be locked and suggested that guests might feel more secure if they could lock their doors. I respect that, but we have no plans to put locks on the bedroom doors. This is a family home. We have never had a problem, and I am always here if guests are in the house. For people who want to be able to lock the bedroom door, a hotel might be a better choice.

A guest arrived and asked if we could recommend a good massage therapist. We said sure--ours. Lugging her table, Joan made a house call. Everyone was pleased, and Joan decided she would be happy to do it again. If anyone who books at Clover Nook would like to arrange a massage, I will pass along Joan's number after the booking, and Joan and the guest can make whatever arrangement they like.

The king sized bed was huge and very comfortable. Lots of windows with pretty trees outside. I loved the house and the room was really lovely.

We booked with Kathleen when we realized that the Inn was booked up for a wedding weekend we were attending. The room in Kathleen's home was perfect for our stay. It was outfitted with everything a hotel room would be, and was an extremely comfortable bed! The house is a bit less than a 0.5 mile walk from main street attractions. Kathleen was extremely accommodating, and made our visit easy and fun!

Kathleen's place was located on a quiet street, close to downtown Middletown ($5 uber). Cozy and charming spot with a huge backyard/garden that Kathleen was willing to let me explore. Kathleen was communicative, and made every effort to make sure a new AC unit was installed for our arrival.

Kathleen was responsive, good-natured, welcoming, interesting, and a mighty-fine host. Her home is within walking distance of Middletown's main street(s), and she had plenty of ideas for where to shop, eat and roam. My daughter and I felt safe in the neighborhood and comfortable in our room.

I love my fabulous, talented, beautiful daughter; my house and garden; books; good talkers and good talk; and my work. I do not love hate, greed, meanness, ignorance, and loud noise.
