Sorry but it was not a pleasant stay.
I chose Jungle Villa because last year we celebrated a friend's birthday there and we had a wonderful time, but this time it was a whole diferent story. We had a large group (16 people) and we were very aware that there are other houses near the Villa so that we had to keep it down at night, but in the first night our Host came screaming at us saying that the music was very loud, and it was definitely NOT loud. We had just one of those very little bluetooth speakers that work with the music in your phone and he made us turn it off screaming to one of my friends. But on our second night was worst, a friend of mine was watching TV very early in the evening (around 7pm) and the Host came screaming at her, he took the remote right from her hands and turned off the TV and he was screaming at her to go clean the kitchen.
I dont really understand what happened to him, he was very relaxed the first time we were at the Villa but this time it seems that everything bothers him, and ONLY him. Yes we like heavy metal music but we know very well when things are a little bit loud so we have to turn it down. I am pretty sure we were not bothering neighbors so if the problem is that we bothered him im sorry but we pay to be there and listen to our music at a decent volume.
My final comment is.....the Villa is WONDERFUL....beautiful place and very good price.....but i didnt like the way we were treated so i dont think im renting this place again and neither my friends.
Initially we declined this group of 16 young adults. Mainly because they stayed before in October 2014 and did not behave according our house rules those days.
During a long conversation with Esteban explaining him about the sound level (background music level, not disco level after 10pm), no breakable glasses and plates
in the pool area, IMMEDIATE cleanup of the kitchen after using the kitchen to avoid ants popping up everywhere, we finally agreed to accept this last group of friends.
We know that a few months before all guests from a nearby villa were evacuated by the Costa Rica police because they made far
too much noise after 10pm. We don't want that to happen in our villa too.
Unfortunately Esteban said yes, yes, yes, but never informed his fellow travellers about our conditions. So when the first night the music was still loud at 12 midnight, we turned off
the music. Period.
When we saw the second night a dirty kitchen and the cook watching tv, we asked her kindly to cleanup the kitchen first.
Which she refused. Then we asked for the tv remote, which she refused too. Then we took the remote, turned off the tv and asked
her again to cleanup the kitchen first.
This has been the last time we had a group of friends, young adults or students in our villa. Everyone agrees our villa is the perfect place to have a great party but we DO require obeyance to our few simple rules.
We know most villa owners in Manuel Antonio don't accept these groups anymore. From now on we are one of the villas where these groups are not welcome anymore!!
Families with 2 or 3 generations of guests are very welcome.
We enjoyed our stay at this unique and expansive Jungle Villa, and the host was readily available for anything we needed. Our favorite part was some of the cool animal sightings we had on the property - a Basilisk, agouti, lots of geckos, and our favorite, the Tamandua.
Just spent a wonderful weekend with three generations of family and friends: my parents, myself, and two daughters plus 9 of their boarding school friends - 14 in total. The spot is perfect for what we were looking for - a simple beach house, both spacious, clean and very well located. The kitchen is well equipped w two refrigerators, pots and pans of all sizes, microwave and blender. The rooms are simple but beds very comfortable with enough bathrooms. The pool is nice size for laps and a group swim; with a great diving spot. Dining space is good size as well and great for candle light dinners; and breakfasts looking out over the jungle. The listing description is very accurate. While Ad was not there that weekend he answered ALL of my questions regarding the site and how to prepare and his staff were attentive and helpful. I easily recommend the house, for a small or larger group.
The Jungle Villa is amazing, with a wonderful view, we spent a great time there, the beach is near and the staff is very kind, if you want to have a great time in the Costa Rican pacific I have no doubt that this villa is a great choice.
This place is incredible! We were a group of 8 and decided to rent the whole house. We had plenty of space to relax and had the chance to see three types of monkeys! It was very clean and when we realized there was a problem with two of the toilets, we messaged Ad and he communicated with the staff who fixed the problem very quickly. There is always someone on the property so if anything happens, they can be very helpful. It's a short drive to the beach and the national park, it's near supermarkets and restaurants, and not as difficult to find as I thought it would be.

About the Host, Ad
I bought this beautiful Jungle Villa early 1999. Originally it was built as a restaurant with 3 pools for a nearby hotel. It's was converted into a private residence in 1999. Guests have given the house many different names like Monkey House, Noah's Ark, etc. but we simply call it the Jungle Villa, a villa embedded in the jungle. If you come to Costa Rica for its nature and animals, this villa is your best choice. As hundreds of guests said already: whenever you enter our property gate, you enter a completely different world. A world with a relaxed atmosphere, sounds of the nature, animals and jungle. A world far away from everydays world. Just relax and enjoy it.
