About this listing
Tree Song...cozy, comfortable accommodation with beautiful water views and a sense of tranquility. It's a place where you'll be able to relax and unwind, and soak in the surrounding beauty.
Tree Song is a comfortable space for one or two adults. It's a studio unit with a well-equipped kitchenette, sofa and comfortable queen-sized bed. The adjoining en suite includes a bathtub/shower, toilet, handbasin, wall heater, ceiling fan, heated towel rail, blow dryer, and electric shaver outlet. Our home has an HRV system (Heat Recovery Ventilation) so the air is being continually purified.
Tree Song bed linens are of a high quality and duvet inners are made from New Zealand pure wool. The duvet covers are always freshly laundered for your stay.
We provide coffee plungers, ground coffee, and instant coffee for your use as well as a selection of teas. The kitchen cupboards are equipped with stainless steel saucepans, a frying pan and a variety of utensils and bowls.
Guest access is via an outside staircase. You will have a reserved space in our double garage, with easy access to your unit. There is plenty of extra parking on the property, too. A recycling box and large rubbish bin is provided for you in the garage.
On arrival guests are provided with continental breakfast foods including muesli, yogurt, milk and fresh fruit. Meals are the guests' responsibility.
Guests are free to explore the property at their own risk. Our small flock of sheep enjoy being hand-fed a bit of bread occasionally! Cocoa, our young black male cat is a relaxed, friendly fellow who gets along with everyone!
Enjoy meals on your balcony or at the picnic table under the walnut trees. Let us know if you'd like to use our spa pool - enjoy an evening soak under the stars if you like!
Interaction with Guests
We look forward to meeting our guests, and as we live in the main part of the house most times we will be onsite. We're happy to answer any questions you have about our area, however, our main goal is to respect your privacy and allow you to enjoy your holiday time undisturbed.
We love our area and highly recommend a walk up to the trig at Bowentown Heads. The view from there is amazing! You'll find Anzac Bay there, too, with picnic tables and a toilet block. A ten minute bushwalk will take you to secluded Shelly Bay. Both are beautiful beaches and swimming bays. You can also fish off the rocks at both bays.
As a semi-rural area it is generally very quiet. There is a kiwifruit orchard next door so you'll hear the sound of farm machinery now and then. Athenree Bay, a kilometer down the road, is a tidal inlet which is safe for swimming and boating. There are some lovely hot pools open to the public at the Athenree Hotsprings Holiday Park across from the bay. If you enjoy walking and hiking there are some excellent tracks nearby. The small community of Waihi Beach boasts several great cafés and restaurants as well as some interesting retail shops - not to mention its 8+km long beach! Athenree is central to so much - it's two hours south of Auckland, with the small towns of Katikati and Waihi only 15 minutes away. It's less than an hour's drive to the beautiful beachside cities of Tauranga and Mt Maunganui, and not much further to Rotorua, the tourist and cultural centre of the North Island. There is so much to see and do in the Bay of Plenty! (See our Guidebook on this site for ideas; we also have some tourist information in the unit).
Intercity buses run from most city centers to the nearest towns of Katikati and Waihi, and there are door to door coach services also available from Auckland and local airports.
The city of Tauranga has its own bus system.
Other Things to Note
Please feel free to help yourself to walnuts (which ripen in March/April) avocados, grapefruit, plums and oranges on the property - whatever is in season!
Summer in our area extends from mid-December through March with February traditionally being the hottest month. March and April usually have lovely, settled weather with cooler evenings but lovely warm daytime temperatures.
We appreciate our home being treated with respect. No pets, please, and no smoking . Please check with us first if you plan to have visitors.
My husband Peter and I have lived on our beautiful rural property in the Bay of Plenty since 1984, and raised our five children here. Peter is the fire chief of our district volunteer fire brigade and I'm a support worker for people with disabilities. We now love being grandparents!
We look forward to meeting you and sharing our little piece of paradise with you!
