A brand new luxurious villa in the heart of Seminyak. Unlike most privately listed properties in Seminyak, our villa's location is truly amazing; right off one of the main streets of Seminyak, Jalan Dhyana Pura(3 mins walk), Ku De Ta(5 mins taxi ride or 20 mins walk), Seminyak Beach(600 meters), Jl. Legian(10 mins walk), "Eat Street" Oberoi are all in close proximity.

The spacious living/dining area comes with a full counter kitchen with appliances and utensils including coffee maker, toaster oven, blender, a large lounge set, a dining set seating 5 people.
The decor has been done by a Japanese interior designer with a touch of French country feel and meticulous attention to details.

The villa is simply breathtaking... waiting for its guests to please.
Lovely and cosy apartment. Highly recommended!
- The showerhead in the toilet is very powerful. Always look forward to a good bath after going out the entire day.
- The apartment is very clean and tidy with basic amenities (including towels).
- Yukiko was very sweet to assist in restaurant bookings, especially since a lot of the restaurants did not have English-speaking staff.
- Close walking proximity to Gion area and Kiyomizu Temple
What can be improved:
- Early check out (12pm) and late check in time (4pm).
- The local manager was quite inflexible with allowing us to leave our bags at the apartment (even though it was well before the next check in timing). I suppose that is the Japanese way but when hosting foreign tourists, I had hoped for more flexibility. (Especially tiring to carry our heavy backpacks around town during lunch and before we could catch our 3.30pm train)
What cannot be helped but isn't great:
- Fairly long distance away from the nearest subway. Be prepared to take cab. (although not too expensive; 1,500yen approx from Kyoto Station)
- Apartment can technically house more than 4 pax, but I think that 4 pax is the max for a comfortable stay.
This place was so nice, and accommodating to stay in. All the info, and instructions given to us by the owner, not only made it very easy to get to, and find, but were helpful when using appliances within the house. Seeing how I don't read or speak Japanese having manuals that had everything labeled in English was incredibly helpful. I could definitely tell that they took the time to make everything for their guests as easy, and simple as possible.
The locations was awesome, and seemed to be pretty centralized to most everything I wanted to do, and see while in Osaka. If something wasn't in walking distance there was a subway stop right around the corner.
I would 100% stay in place hosted by this owner.
Yukiko's place in Kyoto is just too perfect. The location in the center of Gion is close to almost every important spot in Kyoto. You can basically start your walking trip to higashiyama from the door on. The house itself is very nice and typically Japanese. Everything went perfectly fine, we had an awesome stay. Absolutely recommendable.
Absolutely perfect place to be for the sakura. Yukiko and Ryu were great hosts, and we loved the machiya. It's in a superb location and made our stay truly memorable. Cannot recommend highly enough.
We stayed the entire month of March and loved the place. Spacious two floors, lovely old wooden building. Kitchen is open to the living room, we spent most of our time here as it was cosy with under-carpet heating and a stove. Top floor is a single space with tatamis and a folding screen. We had our one year old daughter with us and Keiji set up a crib, high-chair and a little playing gym in the garden for her. Keiji also helped us out when we had issues with a closed gas valve in the kitchen and couldn't light the stove, even brought us his favorite pastries one day. His English is good enough to make yourself understood. Yukiko handles all the emails before our stay and her English is perfect. She was timely in getting back to us and answering our questions as well as organizing an early check on our arrival.
Location can't be beat at the edge of the Gion district, so walking to the temples and Gion is perfect. Going the other way is the Heian shrine, zoo, craft museum, philosopher's walk, and Nanzen-ji. All within reasonable walking distance. Sanjo and Pontocho are also easy to reach on foot, so you have all the food and shopping near by. For anything else the subway is three blocks away and super fast as well as the Keihan rail line for day trips. The trick is to realize that most places can be reached without going to Kyoto station first and using the Tozai or Keihan line (Arashiyama, Miho Museum).
The addition of two bikes (maybe even one with a child seat), as they have the yard to store it, would really add value as you could then go quickly to the supermarket or tour Gion. Although the electric bike rental on Higashiyama was very friendly and great to rent and go up the river to the botanical gardens and Kamigamo Shrine.
It snowed while we were there but the house has air conditioning and heating so all was fine. But the bathroom being sort of an annex is not so lucky and it was quite cold there. Luckily it had a Japanese bathtub which was great for heating up and relaxing after a shower.
Lovely old drawer chest and kitchen cabinet, the rest of the furniture is regular Ikea. Has fast DSL WiFi line instead of the usual Mobile MiFi provided by other places. There's so much to do in Kyoto that we never used the TV.
In short if we return to Kyoto we would not stay anywhere else.
Although we never met the host I was able to phone in. The house is in a prime tourist area so it was PERFECT for us to walk around without any problems. There are plenty of places to eat around the area too. The host provided a binder of helpful info about bus schedules, places to eat, and maps of the area. We absolutely loved the home and felt like we never left our own. The house was clean and well put together. My only complain was the wifi was hard to obtain and the beds were a little stiff. Other than that we highly recommend. Wish we could visit again in the future!
We (A family of 3 including an adult son) enjoyed a very comfortable stay. We had plenty of space, the apartment was very well equipped and it was quiet as it was on the 10th floor.
The instructions sent in advance were very detailed and clear with helpful photographs. It was a 3 minute walk from the nearest subway station .
In summary an excellent experience . thank you
It was a great experience staying over at Yukiko's house. We felt very welcomed and the manager definitely tried his best to make us feel comfortable. The house is clean and the size is perfect for a family of 3 (or not more than four). This is not a big house but they have everything that you need. The location is perfect and close to tourist sites. You can get to the bus stops in 5 mins so it's very easy to get around. I strongly recommend this house if you are coming to kyoto!
If you are looking for an authentic Japanese experience in a local suburb with wonderful hosts you can't go past this awesome Chalet.
The place is immaculate and has been tastefully decorated, everything you need is provided and hosts went the extra mile and left milk, oj and cornflakes which was much appreciated.
The neighborhood is very central within easy walking distance of many temples, art gallery's and museums. There is also station and bus very close by.
We loved place so much we ended up asking for extra night- highly recommended.
Really enjoyed our stay at the Machiya home, it was a very traditional setting and atmosphere which is exactly what we were looking for. It has a beautiful garden that can be viewed from the dining area. If you are traveling with older travelers, please note that the stairs to the second floor are quite steep so you need to be careful. However if you want to try something very unique and Japanese and don't mind setting on the floor for dinner :) this is a great place and can't thank Yukiko enough for opening her wonderful home to us.
