Me and my wife rented Robert's place because both of our parents
were coming to visit us. We rented the place for three weeks.
For starting the house is just amazing! This is one of these rare cases
when actually the pictures and description you will find online are not fare to the place itself, as it is way better than you can imagine!
It is truly a super-comfortable and cozy *home*, as it is decorated and furnished exquisitely. Everything is there, you basically need to move there and that is it.
The place fits easily 6 people comfortably living there. I will just add to the description that there is also a bbq in the backyard (which btw we enjoyed it a lot!!!)
It is perfectly located in Toronto, very close to the subway station, supermarkets, beautiful residential neighbourhoods but also to very centric places such as Bloor and Yongue, all of these at walking distance from the house!
We didn't have the chance to meet Robert personally, but we interacted with his mom, who was truly helpful, she showed us the house few days previous to our parents arrival and gave us the keys of the place. She took care of leaving everything clean for us and helped us with whatever we needed.
Our parents loved the place, and we all together have an amazing time and enjoyed the house a lot!
We don't have any complaints at all, on the contrary we feel so lucky of having rented Robert's place, so please do not even hesitate for a sec in renting this place!
Even more, we can't wait for our next relative's visit so we can have
an excuse to rent this beautiful house again!
Roberts house was lovely! It is a very big old Victorian home and very well kept.
The kitchen is well equipped and the house was exactly as described.
It is air conditioned and we were very comfortable during extremely hot weather.
The outdoor space is amazing! There is a back yard with BBQ, a huge rooftop deck and an upper deck with spectacular views of the city.
We had parking for our cars. We would stay again!
Unfortunately my husband, myself, and my infant son decided to truncate our stay at Robert's home and move due to complications and discomfort that arose during the stay. Robert's home is very exquisitely beautiful and large, and Robert himself seemed kind via telephone. However, Robert was out of town and a relative interacted with us.
Complications included an unexpected, unannounced entry into the home by that relative; another instance of the relative entering private areas not required for home maintenance issues to be addressed, a comment that our place was too messy with this relative throwing away garbage for us in the home without our consent (even though we left the place clean at the completion of our stay), and our indoor cat getting lost for 5 hours in a locked basement when air conditioner repair men came to the home. As well, we had confirmed that there would be air conditioning before we began our stay, but unfortunately the air conditioner did not work sufficiently and I believe is still working suboptimally (though was improved) when we left (it was important to us to have this working due to our infant son).
Robert did acknowledge that the above issues were likely secondary to his being absent during the time we were there, and he himself was very pleasant on the phone and did the best he could to address the above issues as they came up, apologizing for the above difficulties. He offered a refund of the nights we decided not to stay with him.
My husband and I feel, in reflection of this experience, that overall this stay resulted in a significant amount of distress to us while we were there and while already overwhelmed in a new city, with a new job for my husband, and with a new baby. To be fair, the house was big for the three of us, as we originally intended for another adult to be there with us, so our day today upkeep of cleanliness was my ideal given having a new baby around which maybe caused uneasiness in Robert's relative. However we left the place clean and tidy when we left.
If you book with Robert, particularly with long stays, I'd advise you to ensure there will be appropriate support during your stay, preferably with Robert being present himself to address issues, as he himself did seen prompt to respond and responsible in his manner when we eventually spoke via telephone. I would also advise to communicate at least partly via phone or in person as we had difficulty understanding each other via email initially.
Again it is an extremely beautiful, well kept, spacious, and elegant home. It is unfortunate out experience there, but perhaps with this experience on hand, Robert will be able to provide improved experiences to guests in the future.
Robert's house is indeed a beautiful Victorian home. It has everything you could need in order to have a great stay. Roomy, well equipped and just a couple of minutes from the subway into the centre of town. Short walk to many stores. The house is surrounded by green space and there are some very beautiful trail walks close by, one of my favourites was Rosedale Ravine where I walked my dog. Robert was quick to respond and sort out a couple of minor issues we had. My husband and I stayed for 3 months whilst relocating from B.C. We very much enjoyed out stay and would definitely recommend the house.
Was a great house and experience! Loved the location and the amenities, especially the upstairs deck!
First time in Toronto and couldn't have expected better.
