Sleep under the stars and roam through the fields on 25-acre Deerfield Farms. “Bucky” is an open and bright 16-foot Geodesic dome that has a queen bed, four skylights, a picture window overlooking rolling pastures, an indoor sitting area, a coffee station w/ mini fridge, and air conditioning! Outdoor table and chairs. Very clean port-o-let less than 50 feet away, with sink. Shower house close by, with hot/cold water, towels, and toiletries.
The space
If you are looking for a truly unique glamping experience, come to Deerfield Dwellings and stay in this geodesic structure modeled after Buckminster Fuller’s design. A tranquil oasis, it is less than three miles from downtown Floyd where you can enjoy live music, great food, eclectic shopping, and lots of outdoor adventure along the Blue Ridge Parkway. When you’ve had your fill of the hustle and bustle of a town with one stoplight, you can escape to your inviting and cozy dome, under the big sky, surrounded by nature. There is a mowed path along the perimeter of the farm and a 10’x10’ covered platform at the highest point, with a spectacular view. Hammocks are available there for your use! The pasture on the other side of the fence has cows who may serenade you occasionally.

“Bucky” is perched on a sturdy raised platform, three steps up from the ground. The door to the dome is a zippered flap, and when entering you will need to duck a little. Once inside, the dome is an open space, 8’6” floor to ceiling.
Other things to note
*There is no lock on the dome door. If you are concerned, please lock valuables in in your car.
*Please remove shoes at the door.
*We have a dog that lives on the property. Her name is Stella, and she is gentle and friendly.
*Weather can be unpredictable. There is a space heater and an electric blanket for heat.
*Any vehicle can easily access sites.
*The toilet is a clean and nice port-o-let, sink included. It is NOT shared with the other listing.
*The shower house is shared with one other listing, “Daisy” the camper, which may or may not be rented when you are there. Please note- when temperatures are below freezing shower will not be operable.
