The cabin at Lost Prairie Guest Ranch is part of our off grid working ranch. Cute as a bugs ear, solar powered with USB ports and full off grid bath with hot shower. Enjoy the private hilltop fire pit and incredible views of Meadow Peak and surrounding wilderness. See the reviews of our dinners! Mexican food with organic hand made tortillas made in the ancient way with Montana grown Painted Mountain corn, ( 24 hrs. reservation required). Cross country horse drawn carriage rides available.

The space
The entire hilltop is yours, private and out of view of the main house. The mountain views are glorious, the quiet nearly perfect, the stars at night awesome! You will likely see wildlife, and our livestock guardian dogs will want to meet you, and maybe sleep nearby. Inside the cabin is just cute cute...

Guest access
Guests can hike all the trails of our 34 acres, please do not approach the animal corrals without owners.

Other things to note
You will be staying in a cabin with no electricity, no TV, no wi-fi, and no outlets for a blow dryer or refrigerator. There is a USB port available to charge cell phones, please bring a charging cord. Extra jackets and mosquito spray could be helpful in the evenings.

Lost Prairie and neighboring Pleasant Valley are very rural and remain unpaved, perfect for horses and mountain bikes, as motorized vehicles are not allowed on the mountain roads. We are within biking distance of 5 beautiful lakes and the Lost Lakes Bird Sanctuary.

I am a person radically in love with Montana. I am deeply thankful to live here, and to have a husband who is just as excited as I am about this new venture in our lives. Building the cabin, and seeing people so appreciative of our labors has been deeply satisfying. I even like cleaning up for the next guests, and making everything perfect is fun for me. We didn't plan our off grid life, just fell in love with this old sheep ranch with the majestic mountain view, and decided we would learn about solar systems, etc! We are also a working ranch on a small, homestead scale. We grow Painted Mountain corn for our tortillas and salsa ingredients too come from our organically maintained garden. Friends have been giving our taco dinners rave reviews, wow! What a difference, a corn tortilla freshly made from heirloom corn. I have always had a fascination with the most ancient of foods, and now this simple food is a major part of our guest ranch dinners. We are different from the other guest ranches in that we specialize in harness work with our horses, and we offer cross country carriage adventures in summer, and sleigh rides in winter. Our horses thrive with daily exercise, and horse drawn travel through our beautiful valley is such a fun and relaxing thing. In winter we are surrounded by total unspoiled beauty on our sleigh rides, and with horses practically dancing for joy, eager to go...I just think dashing through the snow is EVERYTHING it's cracked up to be! We also appreciate lots of old ways of doing things, for example cooking on an antique cook stove, and doing our logging and field work with horses. In winter we even groom our trails through the woods with the team and a large wooden wheel snow packer that leaves us with perfect footing, similar to how things were done some years ago, when snow could be considered an asset to speedy travel! I love this life, our animals do keep us close to home though, so we always appreciate friends coming to see us. I am happy to answer phone calls if you have any more questions, thanks for reading and hope to have you visit!
