About this listing
Lovely cosy traditional Irish country cottage near Ballyshannon and Belleek. Less than 3 hours drive from Dublin .
Great location from which to explore the north-west and close to Donegal town, Sligo, Fermanagh and Leitrim. Great beaches, surfing, hill-walking, cycling and historical sites. Slieve League cliffs are a short drive away, as is Yeat's grave, Castle Caldwell, Marble Arch Caves, Lough Erne and Lough Melville.
The cottage is a self-contained country house with a large garden and views of the Darty Hills of Leitrim. There is a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, as well as kitchen, dining room (with stove) and living room.
No public transport. Nearest is a bus in Belleek that goes to Dublin and Donegal, but is 2 miles away.
Louise's cottage was a great place to stay at during our time in Donegal. Tranvelling through Ireland, we enjoyed a few relaxing days in this nice place, which offers almost all you can think of.
Louise was not there herself when we arrived, but she gave us great advise beforehand, so all went perfectly well during our stay.
Thanks a lot, Louise!
This is a lovely wee cottage in a great location- I would highly recommend it! It is very cosy and tastefully decorated (the pictures don't do it justice I think) and in a great spot for exploring the lovely coastline and surrounding areas. Although Louise did not greet us she gave very clear instructions and we found the cottage with no problems at all, her suggestions for day trips were also very helpful and there were several leaflets in the cottage to help us on our way- so all in all I would say she is a great host! I would highly recommend a stay here and a trip to Donegal.. the people are relaxed and friendly and the scenery is stunning!
A wonderful place to stay, in beautiful surroundings. I absolutely cannot fault the cottage.
We didn't meet Louise but she provided great directions to the house and local information via email. The cottage was very cute and the neighbourhood quiet and peaceful
Big thank you to Louise - our stay in Harkin's Cottage was really special! The location is stunning - so near to Belleek, and yet you feel you are in the heart of the country. And you are so near to so many interesting and scenic spots - we particularly liked Rossnowlagh. The view from the house was gorgeous, and the house itself is just so homely, cosy and full of character. I loved the wood burning stove - and the little mezzanine sitting room was my favourite spot! My 4 year old was saying she missed it (and the friendly cows) before we even got to the end of the lane. We really enjoyed our stay - and the cottage had everything we needed. No high-tech gadgets, and not much in the line of phone coverage indoors - which is just how we wanted it. I would whole heartedly recommend it if you are looking for a break away from the norm and a chance to kick back and really relax.
Louise was great to deal with - nothing was a problem, and all of the images and information were spot on. Thanks!
Lovely cottage in a great location. We stayed 4 different places in Donegal and this was our favourite! Very comfortable, clean and welcoming with all the facilities that you need for your stay. We found the cottage easy to find with Louise's directions. We stayed with 2 children & a baby who all loved it also. The surrounding area was beautiful with lots of nice places for day trips. We were made to feel very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We'd definitely recommend it and would like to go again ourselves!
