Interaction with Guests
We are a household of three: a retired couple, Pat and Brad, and middle aged housemate, Joe. We're friendly and quiet, happy to tell you about the city and the neighborhood, and have good conversations over a cup of tea.
We'd enjoy talking with you about environmental sustainability, spiritual and religious experience, work for social justice, and learning about different experiences and points of view.
We are in the historic Powelton Village section of West Philadelphia, just north of the Drexel Campus. The neighborhood has many large Victorian homes built in the 1860s and smaller homes like ours built in the 1890s.
This is the best neighborhood for getting around! We are within 1 1/2 blocks of three bus lines. 10 minute walk to Market Frankford subway, to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, to the River Walk along the Schuylkill River. 15 minute walk to 30th Street Station. Near the Spring Garden exit of the Schuylkill Expressway. Easy door-to-door limo from the airport.
Other Things to Note
We don't have a fixed check-in, check-out time, but it is very helpful to know what time you will be arriving and departing. If another guest is arriving on your departure day, feel free to leave your luggage downstairs while you are out and about.
No smoking or pets. Turn off auxiliary heat when you go out for the day.
Brad and Patricia were warm and welcoming, and very easy to keep in touch with before, during and after our weekend in Philadelphia. We were in town for a race that started at the Art Museum at Eakins Oval, and their home was conveniently in walking distance. We would definitely stay here again!
Brad and Patricia are very nice. Their place is a short walk to the art museum and one bus to other major attractions. We enjoyed our stay in Philli.
Brad and Patricia are wonderful and kind hosts. They're warm and flexible, and they offer a very living-at-home kind of experience.
I would say that the space is nice. Fairly basic -- it's not a hotel -- but clean and pleasant.
The location is quite convenient to Drexel and U Penn, as well as to the 30th Street train station. A cab or Uber to/from any of these three costs about $5 and takes 5-7 minutes.
The price is outstanding, as is the value.
Although I'd never been to Philly before last weekend, the neighborhood was what I pictured classic Philly to be like. Quaint and pretty homes tucked away in a university area, quiet and vintage and comfortable.
I was welcomed kindly by Pat and Joe, a housemate of Pat and Brad. They showed me the home-related ropes, and had a nice array of Philly-related tourist brochures and menus available in the foray.
Due to my limited time in Philly, I was gone most of the time, so my interactions with the hosts was limited. However, they were always kind and open to helping me.
I loved the book selection in my room, and the windows/natural light were a fantastic touch.
Brad & Patricia are extremely kind & nice,Great experience in Philadelphia, I am extremely recommend this house to like traveling people.
Brad and Patricia made me feel very welcomed. I had to change my arrival time and they were extremely accommodating. They provided me with a bus schedule and were delightful to speak with,
The room is big enough for two people. Very easy transportation since I get off and catch bus at the 30th st. station.
