Interaction with Guests
We are a household of three: a retired couple, Pat and Brad, and middle aged housemate, Joe. We're friendly and quiet, happy to tell you about the city and the neighborhood, and have good conversations over a cup of tea.
We'd enjoy talking with you about environmental sustainability, spiritual and religious experience, work for social justice, and learning about different experiences and points of view.
We are in the historic Powelton Village section of West Philadelphia, just north of the Drexel Campus. The neighborhood has many large Victorian homes built in the 1860s and smaller homes like ours built in the 1890s.
This is the best neighborhood for getting around! We are within 1 1/2 blocks of three bus lines. 10 minute walk to Market Frankford subway, to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, to the River Walk along the Schuylkill River. 15 minute walk to 30th Street Station. Near the Spring Garden exit of the Schuylkill Expressway. Easy door-to-door limo from the airport.
Other Things to Note
We don't have a fixed check-in, check-out time, but it is very helpful to know what time you will be arriving and departing. If another guest is arriving on your departure day, feel free to leave your luggage downstairs while you are out and about.
No smoking or pets. Turn off auxiliary heat when you go out for the day.
We had a very good time in Brad and Patricia's house.
The room and the bathroom was very clean, we used their kitchen and our hosts were really kind and friendly. They invited us to a Friday dinner and we played cards afterwards, enjoyed very much.
I strongly recommend the place and I will definitely stay in the same place during my next visit to Philly.
The position of the house is near the city centre and well connected with the bus. As accomodation, our room was big and sunny with a little terrace but we found it not very clean and a little old. Even the kitchen was not so clean and the bathrooom very essential. Brad an Pat were friendly.
The house is located in University City, Philly, which is very close to the major attractions. Brad and Pat are very nice and gave my family a lot of help. On our arrival, Brad and Joe gave us a warm welcome and detailed instructions for our tour, like maps and Metro information. The room is nice and bed is cozy, we like the balcony best, on which I had lot of conversations with my son and wife with drinks.
Checking in couldn't have been easier! Our host showed us up to our room, and then brought us some cold water. The room was spacious, and full of light. The fans kept the room a good temperature. Everything was clean.
The house was just a few blocks from a bus that took us into the city; it was very easy to get around.
How fortunate I felt to have chosen such a comfortable, charming old house, such welcoming hosts as Brad, Pat, Joe and a bonus beautiful little girl to have some moments of play with, when I visited Philadelphia for the first time. There was everything I needed in my cozy room, and the neighborhood as well. A nice short stay. Hope it can be longer next time. It would also be nice to absorb a bit more of the city's awesome history.
