The Space

This beautiful and spacious Garden apartment takes up an entire floor of our 1880s brownstone. It has its own backyard which is great for summertime bbqing. The backyard/garden is shared with me and my family - if you plan to have an event in the backyard please contact me ahead of time to coordinate.

Our building is only two to three stops from Manhattan via the 4, 5, and F trains, and a couple of stops from Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Compare this to other Brooklyn apartments that are half an hour or more from Manhattan. We are also only steps away from Pier 6 where you can hop on a water taxi into the city or Governor's Island, play some beach volleyball or walk down the promenade. Easy access to Grocery stores for food shopping and other daily amenities as well.

Cobble Hill is a great neighborhood bordering Brooklyn Heights and Carroll Gardens - all of which are filled with quaint and award winning restaurants (Sushi, Thai, Irish pubs, Americana you name it), shops, French cafes and parks. Admire the 1800s architecture as you stroll through this historic neighborhood - you may even decide to spend the day exploring this area rather than venture into Manhattan.

The apartment has a queen bed with a memory foam mattress top, a comfortable gigantic sofa that is large enough to seat 4-5 or sleep one comfortably, two brand new LCD TVs with DirecTV, a kitchen with stainless steel range and new cookware, original hardwood floors. We know you will enjoy your stay here with us!

Other Things to Note

The unit sleeps 4. With the Master bed in the middle room, there is no door to separate the 2 beds. Probably awkward for 3 or 4 adults, maybe ok for 2 adults and 2 children.

  • We had a delightful time visiting the Manhattan area. We rented this flat and were very pleased.
I was able to text Keow and keep her informed about our arrival. She met us there and was very pleasant to deal with.
We would definitely stay here again. The bed was great and it was so sound prof even though it is by the highway.

  • This place was comfortable and clean. Nice courtyard in back to read or enjoy a glass of wine. Conveniently located near tree lined streets, local restaurants and shops, East River parks and recreational activities. We would stay here again.

  • The description and earlier positive reviews from previous guests helped me to decide to book 7 days in early June. I have stayed previous times in a hotel in Manhattan and at another Airbnb in Williamsburg. I had a family event to attend in the Cobble Hill area. We loved it. A great place to discover. Keow was instantly responsive via text to any questions. She met us on time and transferred the keys. You know a place is super lean when you can wear new white socks (forgot the slippers) and they showed no floor dirt or grit at all. A fresh dish sponge in a wrapper spoke to cleanliness. Ample, quiet fridge. The big king bed was super comfortable. Despite being across the road from a sunken freeway, the place was an oasis of calm. The second and third folding beds were like futons - very comfortable. The pots of herbs in the back garden patio added to a few dinners we cooked there. It was a four block walk to the main drag - Smith Street with cafes and small shops between plus clean residential streets. Very friendly neighbours. Going anywhere by subway was about 40 minutes - not too bad either to Manhattan or other parts of Brooklyn on the F train. There is an amazing walk relatively nearby to the Brooklyn Promenade. And you can take a ferry across to Manhattan if you like. A cute small cafe is right on the corner for breakfast or a drink on the way home. I recommend a sojourn to Keow's comfy spot on Hicks Street anytime.

  • My friend, from Maine, and I, from Montana, met somewhere in the madness which is JFK so we didn't need any more unexpected surprises while in the city. Our stay with Law went so smoothly and predictably, it was a huge bonus! She follows through promptly on email and texts and she made lodging a breeze. She takes her role seriously and attends to all the details which separate professionals from amateurs. The place was super clean and the bed could not have been more comfortable. Some of the other guests insisted you can't hear the freeway traffic at all but we are from rural Maine and Montana. We heard it but it really IS muffled to an amazing degree and we overrode the faint rush hour volume with the floor fans (for white noise). My friend slept on the couch with linens provided and she was very comfortable. We could hear walking upstairs but, again, Montana woods silence! Earplugs helped me and my friend didn't even notice.

  • Keow's place was very clean and quiet, the bed was comfortable and we had everything we needed. The backyard was great to have coffee in the morning. The neighborhood was awesome and had a lot of restaurants and bars, also shopping. Keow was attentive and everything went smoothly. Would work well for couples, families, or friends.

  • Keow is a very gracious and accommodating host. The facilities are neat and clean with very good access to transportation and Brooklyn's various shops and venues. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed walking through the neighborhood and experiencing the local culture. April is a wonderful month to be in NY. Thanks Keow!

  • Law (Keow) was a wonderful point of contact for this cozy, warm, and spacious apartment. We stayed for 8 days and I texted her anytime we had an issue or question (which was rare.) Full kitchen, which we used to cook up our own meals after spending all day in the city. 15-min walk to the metro; we went to the one on Carrol Street and 0.7 mile to Trader Joe's which we frequented. Lots of restaurants and cute shops in the area (Court Street.) Close to the highway, but noise was NEVER an issue, as the insulation in the apartment kept it quiet. The mattress is super comfortable as promised and the water was nice and hot when we needed . Was very very happy with our place: cozy, clean, spacious, and great amenities.

  • My in-laws had a pleasant stay at Keow's apartment. It was spotless and comfortable, surprisingly quiet and cozy. Keow was very accessible and communicative, flexible about an adjustment in our travel plans and helpful in showing us how the television worked. Good experience, all around.

I've owned my home in Brooklyn since 1996, and this is my first foray into AirBnb. I'm a former restaurateur and chef. I'm friendly, easygoing and looking forward to making connections on AirBnb.
