The Space

Grand reopening with newly remodeled kitchen!

Come and experience the real Portland. From the comfort of our 1907 house, it's an easy hop to just about everywhere!

There's easy access to bus and train lines, bike around town, or just stroll the Alberta Arts district - there's a park with a playground just up the street, and our Walk Score is 86. There's plenty of free street parking in our neighborhood, so your car will have a great place to sleep too.

Ordered too much food at one of Portland's 10,000 great restaurants? Come in through your own private entrance, and pop your swan-shaped tinfoil creations into the refrigerator. When you feel hungry again, there's a full kitchen complete with pots and pans, microwave, coffee maker, and all the dishes and utensils you'll need. Tucked into the nook in the back you'll find a washer and dryer, so you don't have to pack your entire wardrobe.

Looking for a quiet evening in? The cozy living room features an electric fireplace, a bookshelf stocked with light reading, and an entertainment system with a flat screen TV and DVD player. We even have some a Wii and some games for you, and a Netflix streaming account you can access through the Wii.

Feeling sleepy? The bedroom features a king-size bed with a memory foam pad, soft sheets, and a down comforter, and the sofa in the living room converts to a full-size bed. Have a crowd? No problem: there are two cots in the closet. Young kids? No problem! We have a pack-and-play, a high chair, and a full-size bath tub.

When you wake up, you'll probably be hungry again. Feel free to eat your leftover pizza, but we'll also have micro-roastery coffee and breakfasty items for you. There are a couple great grocery stores within a mile, so you can stock our kitchen with all your favorite foods, and cook while you are here, if you feel so inclined.

Everything you find in the apartment is for our guests to use. You will have your own unique code to get into your apartment; no keys to keep track of and carry around. Be advised that our little family lives upstairs, and the floors aren't made of soundproofed concrete, but we do our best to keep quiet.

Whenever we travel, we like to manage our own time, so we give you lots of space to do your own thing. You have your own entrance, so we can avoid those awkward half-conversations. If you'd like to chat, feel free to come find us. We both work from home, so are around most of the time.

Our neighborhood is great, there are SO many fantastic restaurants and great shopping areas and several monthly community events! We are within a quick walk to both the Alberta Arts District and North Williams St. Just a bit further out is N. Mississippi Avenue. The apartment is also just a short 2 miles up the road from the Convention Center and Rose Quarter. A quick bus ride whisks you there! If you have pets or kids, there's a park just a 1/2 block away where they can expend some of that energy.

If you want to go somewhere else, there's a bus stop about 100 yards away, and from there it's a quick hop to MAX. If you have your bike, we are right along one of the major Portland bike-ways.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • We stayed in Ben and Becky's apartment for 4 nights and it really felt like home. They have everything you could want in a kitchen (appliances, cereal, milk, bagels, fruit, juice) bathroom (lots of towels, extra soap, extra everything else). The apartment felt brand-new and is just super comfortable. Our interaction with them was minimal, but Ben greeted us as we arrived, showed us the layout and left us to it. They even left us a nice bottle of beer which was perfect after a long drive. Highly recommended.

  • Great place to stay- very clean, well appointed, and comfortable. Nice area for walking to restaurants and public transit just around the block for getting all around the city. If you are inclined to stay in and do your own cooking, the kitchen is well equipped and very nice. They seem to have thought of everything a visitor might want.

  • LOVED this place! Hosts were traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday and still managed to be ridiculously accommodating. Breakfast, books, toys, games, towels, extra bedding, baby equipment, umbrella -- this place had everything I could ask for. Early check-in? No problem. Adjust the smart, energy-efficient thermostat from hundreds of miles away? No problem. Walking distance to Tasty N Sons, Whole Foods, and a decent coffee shop? Of course. Comfy enough to stay in all day when it's pouring buckets outside? Naturally. Definitely recommend and hope to be back!

  • Just as advertised! Clean and tidy, and they stocked the fridge! A bit difficult to sleep in late due to movement heard from the house above, but other than that it was great!

  • We really loved this place. Not only was the Apartment adorable, Ben and Becky provided many lots of little touches that really made it special. Beautifully decorated with more amenities than you would ever expect. Plus, the bagels in the fridge were excellent! ....and the recommendation for lunch was perfect.

  • We loved the apartment and felt at home immediately. Ben and Becky are perfect hosts who take care of their guests' needs!

  • What a great place! Clean, roomy, bright, homey. Very thoughtful touches like extra toiletries, coffee, juice, and bagels for breakfast, and plenty of towels! Great location within walking distance of restaurants and shops, plus around the corner from the bus. Our four year old loved trying out the Wii, playing with the apartment's toys, and meeting the hosts' friendly pugs! Ben and Becky were wonderful hosts, and we look forward to our next visit!

  • My husband, our 2yr old, our black lab and I stayed for 3 nights at Ben & Becky's apt. It was wonderful. Bright and sunny even though it is a basement ( down six steps initially), the windows are eye level and let in lots of light. There was water, juice, bagels, local coffe and organic milk waiting for us. Lots of plush towels. Tons of maps and local suggestions. The bedroom had a great king size bed. For the price, it was very roomy. The location was perfect, in bike riding or short drive to downtown/zoo/omsi etc, but out of the chaos of urban downtown. Alberta street, just a couple blocks away, had lots of shops and restaurants. The hosts were open and welcoming, but we definately felt like we had lots of privacy and were very comfortable. We would definately stay here again.

  • My family stayed in Ben and Becky's apartment this August, and we loved it. The space was enough for us and our two sons, and we really appreciated the thought and care that had been put into furnishing the place. We had lots of room for storage, a pull-out bed plus a cot for our younger son, great coffee, bagels, and other breakfast choices. Ben communicated with us the whole time, answering questions quickly. The boys loved playing Wii in their down-time and definitely used the Netflix account.

Everything was clean, secure, and beautiful! We would definitely stay there again.

  • A few friends and I rented Ben and Becky's apartment while in town for a conference at the convention center. It is a clean, open sunny place. There was enough space for 4 adults to fit comfortably and storage for all of our things (the bedroom has a very large closet to stow things away). The neighborhood is fantastic with many great restaurants and [brew]pubs within walking distance. It is an easy and safe bike ride downtown. Ben and Becky were also very accommodating to a few changes we made to the reservation prior to our arrival and quickly responded to all of my messages. They were having landscaping done during our stay and there were a few complications, but they were gracious about troubles and made sure we were happy.
