Fab, spacious room near Barclay's

House - Private room · St Marks Pl, Brooklyn, NY 11217, United States

Large room situated on a quiet, beautiful tree-lined block in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. One subway stop to Manhattan & and surrounded by many cute neighborhoods, anything you need can be found close by. LGBT friendly.

The Space

We have a great sized, fully furnished room with 2 closets. It has a full sized bed, extra long couch, coffee table, work desk w/chair and lamp, situated on a beautiful tree-lined block in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. Boerum Hill is a long, skinny residential neighborhood that lies between Park Slope, Fort Green & Gowanus. So basically 1/2 a blk from 4th Ave which is officially Park Slope, and ideal because we are literally between every fun neighborhood around here, and really close to a number of subways. Park Slope was rated #1 neighborhood in NY.

We supply your morning coffee (Starbuck's Via for instant, or we have a french press and air press for grinds), fruit & toast, and a clean room with fresh sheets and towels, and we have a great kitchen for cooking full of pots, pans, blender, electric kettle, steamers, baking equipment, spices, etc. You get your own shelf in the fridge and cabinet space. The bathroom has a full sized tub, with a detachable shower head.

It's so convenient, just a 5 minute walk to Barclay/Atlantic subway (trains are: 2,3,4,5,B,D,R,N,Q), other trains close by are the A,C,F & G. BARCLAY CENTER & BAM, ATLANTIC TERMINAL/CENTER are within 2-3 blks, as well as a host of bars, cafes, and restaurants, clothing & grocery stores, a Ricky's, are all right around the corner. Also, there are plenty of Citibike racks very close by. If you are into fitness there's a great Yoga place 1/2 block from here, and a mixed martial arts & crossfit gym on the corner where you can pay by the class.

You would have your own air conditioned (in summer) room in a shared three bedroom apt, with two creative types who work in the design and fashion industries.

This is a non smoking environment. No pets are allowed (but we do have 1 hypoallergenic, Russian Siberian kitty that is very easy on the allergies), We have WIFI and instructions to get on it are in your room.

We have recently repainted and decorated the room and are quite happy with it's new look! The room has been off the market for over a year so we are just opening it up again now. Take advantage of our guidebook suggestions, there's plenty more we can tell you. Just ask! We are happy to answer your questions and want you to have a great experience.

The Neighborhood

The neighborhood is pretty convenient. We are located next to the most central subway station in Brooklyn, Atlantic/Barclays. You'll find the LIRR there as well, multiple shopping areas nearby, a variety of neighborhoods within walking distance, Prospect Park. Despite all the conveniences our street remains quiet.

Getting around

Barclays subway. Close by are the following lines;
A,C,D,B,N,R,Q,2,3,4,5,G,F, and LIRR. City bikes are everywhere, cycling around here is good fun.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Angela was the host you could ask for. She really made us feel at home and ensured that we had milk, juice and bread every day. Angela even offered us coffee and tea and a whole list of places to visit around her estate.

Her neighbourhood was also really safe and great for people who like pubs and niche restaurants. It is also in close proximity to the metro which has everything you need -- from supermarkets to shopping for apparels and it is also a terminal where so many lines to Manhattan intercept!

Before I arrived in Angela's apartment, I was a bit sceptical about her cat as I am really afraid of animals. But for people who're like me, fear not -- her cat is super independent and looks like a QUEEN CAT like those you see in Alice in Wonderland (hehe). For cat lovers you'd definitely wanna steal her home ;) Anyway, if you're looking for a place to stay in NYC -- this is what you're looking for.

  • Angela was such a sweetheart. She was very kind and hospitable. She made sure my boyfriend and I were comfortable during our stay. Angela was also very easy to get in touch with, which made our trip much less stressful.

The accommodations were spacious and clean. It was perfect for our weekend stay. I'd highly recommend Angela's space for anyone wanting to stay in Brooklyn.

  • Great stay & great place! The room was delightful with tons of space for me to decamp my stuff and spread out. Angela was wonderful, getting breakfast & coffee & tea supplies for me and even emailing to ask what I preferred before she went grocery shopping.

The location's also great--super close to all the trains that stop at Atlantic Ave. Would totally stay again.

  • Angela was a perfect host. Place is clean and very comfortable. Location is perfect, close to subway and all needed stores and restaurants.

Would definitely recommend this to friends travelling in NY

  • I can't imagine a better host than Angela. She made me feel right at home! Both she and her roommate Deryck are great people and really wonderful to hang out with. Suki the cat is also really sweet, if somewhat cautious (and really likes her belly rubbed).

The apartment itself is cozy, warm and comfortable, and the room is spacious with a separate sitting area and a small desk for working. I definitely appreciated all the goodies in the fridge left for me. The location is perfectly situated on a quiet street near Atlantic Terminal for all the subway lines you could want and is also walking distance to some of the best that Brooklyn has to offer.

I was up in NY for an apartment search. As it turns out my new place is not far away. That is good, because I'm really glad to have made friends with Angela.

  • This was my first air bnb experience. It was easier than I had expected. I loved the location! Super easy to get to just about any train. I was working in manhattan -soho area and it only took me about 20 minutes from Angela's apartment to the area I was going.
The room was really clean and the bed really comfortable. Angela has a very cute cat too. Her cat is quite friendly and sweet, but will stay out of the room if you don't want her in there. The apartment is nice and spacious, and the street it's on is quiet. I travel to NYC often and prefer to stay in Brooklyn, so hopefully this room will be open when I am back! The neighborhood is great for all types of food too. Angela gave me the names of some places she likes, all within a 5 minute walk. Looking forward to a longer stay next time!
