About this listing
Large room situated on a quiet, beautiful tree-lined block in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. One subway stop to Manhattan and surrounded by many cute neighborhoods, everything you need can be found close by. LGBT friendly.
We have a great sized, fully furnished room with 2 closets. It has a full sized bed, extra long couch, coffee table, work desk w/chair and lamp, situated on a beautiful tree-lined block in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. We have very recently installed soundproofing between your room and Deryck's, and have updated the coffee table. Boerum Hill is a long, skinny residential neighborhood that lies between Park Slope, Fort Green & Gowanus. So basically 1/2 a blk from 4th Ave which is officially Park Slope, and ideal because we are literally between every fun neighborhood around here, and really close to a number of subways. Park Slope was rated the #1 neighborhood in NY.
We supply your morning coffee or tea, I roast it myself every few days so you're having extremely fresh coffee. We have a french press and aeropress, espresso maker, juicer, fruit & toast, milk/soy, butter and jam, and a clean room with fresh sheets and towel. We also have a great kitchen for cooking full of pots,pans, blender, electric kettle, steamers, baking equipment, spices, etc. You get your own shelf in the fridge and cabinet space. The bathroom has a full sized tub, with a detachable shower head.
It's so convenient, it's a very easy transfer from JFK airport. We are just a 5 minute walk to the Barclay/Atlantic subway (trains are: 2,3,4,5,B,D,R,N,Q), other trains close by are the A,C,F & G and the LIRR. BARCLAYS CENTER & BAM, ATLANTIC TERMINAL/CENTER are within 2-3 blks, as well as a host of bars, cafes, and restaurants, clothing & grocery stores, a Ricky's, are all right around the corner. Also, there are plenty of Citibike racks very close by. If you are into fitness there's a great Yoga place 1/2 block from here, and a mixed martial arts & crossfit gym on the corner where you can pay by the class.
You would have your own air conditioned (in summer) room in a shared three bedroom apt, with two creative types who work in the design and fashion industries.
This is a non smoking environment. No pets are allowed (but we do have 1 hypoallergenic, Russian Siberian kitty that is very easy on the allergies), We have WIFI and instructions to get on it are in your room.
Take advantage of our guidebook suggestions, there's plenty more we can tell you. Just ask! I charge $15/night for an extra person, and a $100 security deposit is held by AIRBNB until after you check out.
We are happy to answer your questions and want you to have a great experience!
Guests have access to WIFI, a shelf in the fridge, a shared kitchen and bathroom & a private room with it's own couch.
Interaction with Guests
I am always there to greet you. I interact as much as you need me or want to chat.
This neighborhood is becoming an entertainment hub with Barclays and BAM. It's also culturally very diverse and interesting. We have fantastic places to see music, like The Bell House, too many restaurants and bars to recount, great shopping new and vintage. The neighborhood is pretty convenient. We are located next to the most central subway station in Brooklyn, Atlantic/Barclays. You'll find the LIRR there as well, a shopping mall 3 blks away with stores like Target and Old Navy, a variety of neighborhoods within walking distance, Prospect Park. Despite all the conveniences our street remains quiet.
Barclays subway. Close by are the following lines;
A,C,D,B,N,R,Q,2,3,4,5,G,F, and LIRR. City bikes are everywhere, cycling around here is good fun.
Other Things to Note
Please look at my guidebook for local conveniences. We do not have laundry on the premises but we do have 2 laundry mats and 3 laundry drop offs all on the corner of our blocks (either end of St. marks Place between 3rd & 4th).
* No parties.
* If you cook, please clean up after yourself.
* Keep it tame after 11pm. In general we just ask that you be considerate of us and our neighbors.
* Overnight guests are not OK unless you are staying here for an extended period of time. In which case please just let us know so we are not startled in the middle of the night by tip toeing strangers in the dark! Yep, this has happened and it made me scream. This is our home and unknown random people are a little frightening for security reasons.
* Shoes off home.
* Please do not go into anyone's room but your own.
* Please be gentle with my kitty Suki. She's a lover not a fighter ;)
* Cats are allowed if you keep them in your room and bring a kitty litter.
I definitely recommend the apartment. Angela is a very kind and lovely person. She helped us to find places around the area. The apartment is located in a nice and quiet area of Brooklyn. It is ideal for tourists who want to visit Manhattan as it is very close to a lot of subways. Finally, Angela's cat is so cute!
I had a great experience. The location is excellent. The subway station nearby is a hub with many lines and is just 5 minutes walking from the apartment. The room itself is big, with a good bed. Angela was a very good host! I recommend it and I would stay there again.
Wonderful, large room in a lovely part of Brooklyn. The Atlantic/Barclays subway station a few blocks aways makes it incredibly convenient to get around. Angela was an amazing host and was especially accommodating of my last minute booking!
Angela's listing was perfect! The room was spacious with lots of closets and storage. The room is also next to the entrance and the bathroom so you don't have to walk through the house, which can make a stay awkward. The room and communal areas are nice and clean.
The listing is in the best part of BK (Park Slope) and walking distance to the Barclay. At the corner there is a 24 hr deli that can supply you with anything you need or forgot on your trip.
I only stayed for 2 nights but the listing is especially suited for extended stays. Angela is a great host, warm and courteous and a very interesting person, making for really good conversation.
I had a great stay in Angela's home and really enjoyed my week in New York. The location is very convenient, 5 min walk to Barclays center/Antlantic avenue with direct subway lines to manhattan, Pen station & madison square garden, JFK airport or Coney island. Angela was a very welcoming host, gave me advices for restaurants in the neighborhood.
The bedroom is well equipped with comfortable bed and coach, coffee table and work desk. Internet wifi connection worked fine, i could use netflix on my laptop computer without any problem.
We enjoyed our stay and feel accommodations were of good value. We felt safe in the neighborhood. And was able to obtain parking quite quickly. Angela was also a wonderful host.
Wonderful experience. It's a nice room in a nice apartment lived in by two really cool people who respect your privacy. The neighborhood is one of the best in Brooklyn. I highly recommend staying here.

About the Host, Angela
I am a creative lady working as an Accessory Designer, my room mate, Deryck is an Art Director and also does Packaging Design and we are both relaxed people that love company and meeting new people.
Life is too short for a bad cup of coffee, I roast my own beans here, your coffee will be delicious!
Meeting people from different walks of life makes me very happy. In a perfect world I would be traveling everywhere, second best thing is having people from different parts of the world come and stay with me. When I travel I definitely like to go off the beaten path, I don't need luxury, I like new experiences. So far I absolutely love everyone that's stayed with me, I hope to continue hosting as long as I can. If you are a cat lover you will want to stay here, Suki is quite literally the sweetest cat I've ever had, she's all love.
Live the life you love....working on it.
