Tony and Caroline were really friendly and welcoming hosts. We were only making a 1 night stop during our roadtrip home, but they made us immediately feel at home. We got directions on where to find an evening meal in the neighbourhood, we could choose a movie from their collection to watch, got directions on where to go for a walk with our dog in the morning,...
The gÎte surprised us by being much bigger than we expected, it was really spacious and very well equipped. We slept wonderful in the bed, and the next morning we felt really rested and ready for the last part of our roadtrip. A bit with pain in the heart we have to admit, because we wished we could have stayed longer! The area seems really nice and relaxing. We definitely hope to come back one day and stay for a longer time.
If you like to feel at home whilst you are travelling Tony and his family really know how to do that. They were very caring and friendly hosts.
We were very impressed about the accommodation and on the whole, really good value for price and super clean! The double bed is one of the best beds we have ever slept in, even compared to hotels that we stayed in the past. So you have a really good rest, as well with the quiet location.. Well you can hear the trees and the horses! But how lovely is that?
The location is just gorgeous! and with really nice walks nearby amongst the lakes and woodlands!
We can't wait to test the swimming pool - hopefully in our next stop there this summer!
After years of driving up and down in France always staying in terrible roadside (m)(h) otels on awful industrial parks, we decided that we had enough of that.
So we looked up on Airbnb a place that was not to far away from our journey but where we could really have rest. So we ended up, only a very short detour away from the motorway, by Tony, so good a beautiful old house, very quiet and it had just everything you could wish for. A warm welcome great house, fantastic spot. You will see us more often on our journey through France!
We loved this accommodation. The place is clean, nicely decorated, and has a well equipped kitchen. It felt like a nice and warm home away from home. We loved it so much, we came back for two nights on our way back home. Highly recommended.
Couldn't have asked for better. The gite is in an amazing location, very quiet, beautiful and rural. The gite itself is lovely, superb value for money and was spotless when we arrived. They also have horses, a pool, two gorgeous gardens, a fire pit for a small bonfire, two very friendly dogs, a quad bike and there's a lake you can go swimming in just up the road. And the stars are great at night! Our hosts were all you could wish for really. Welcoming and chatty but left us to get on with our own thing too. Tony was really understanding of our difficulties with our phones on our arrival and picked us up himself in Ambazac. We arrived on a Sunday and he had even bought us a pizza (along with some red wine and bread) as he had (completely correctly!) guessed that we hadn't counted on the shops being shut on a Sunday. Ambazac is a 4-5 mile journey by car or 3 miles through the woods and well worth an early morning stomp to get your bread from the excellent boulangerie. Most of the people in the town didn't speak English, but didn't make you feel like a total fool for speaking stuttering French either. It's a really laid back town; sleepy and provincial in the best possible way, (only do ask tony when the shops are likely to be open as they take lunch-breaks/bank holidays/Monday/Sunday/Saturday afternoon very seriously!). On my first trip into town I walked through the woods and then saw that lots of the old boys were already in the tabac having a beer at 11am and it seemed rude not to join. Everyone seems to know each other and the town has a very friendly feel to it.
All in all it was exactly what Emma and I were looking for. A comfortable, well presented gite at a really good price in an excellent location with brilliant hosts. Highly, highly recommended.
We loved staying in the Grandmont gîte! Unfortunetaly, we only had the time for a short trip, but our stay was wonderful. We got lured in by the pool pictures, but we had no idea that the gîte itself would be so spacious and nice.
Tony and Caroline did everything to make us feel welcome and provided us with some copious meals. The only thing that was not the way we expected was the weather, but I'm sure they would have changed that too if they could. With some of the dvd's from their nice selection however, time passed quickly until we could enjoy a swim and some poolside chilling.
Loved our stay in the country with Caroline and Tony, they were friendly and helpful hosts. Charming downstairs apartment that felt like a small home. Peaceful and quiet with lush forests and pastures nearby. The apartment was larger than expected and well equipped with everything you could possibly need. We enjoyed a balmy spring day swimming in the heated pool followed by a day or two of cooler but still pleasant weather.
Would love to return one day, thank-you.

We had a great time at the Grandmont gites! Everything you can wish for a nice vacation was there: A clean spacious apartment, a beautiful garden, sun, swimmingpool, nature, and a special note to the hosts! Caroline and Tony are very nice en we did feel very welcome! We are definitely planning to go back there.
Tony and Caroline were wonderful hosts! The rustic county cottage was just as picturesque as the photos implied. They graciously picked us up at the station, plus offered us a ride back to Limoges to help make our next train. They even let us borrow their car for a trip into town to procure groceries for our visit. The cottage was spacious and we loved the cozy fireplace and all the decor. We enjoyed going for a long hike in the wooded area nearby and following some of the marked pathways! We could have easily spent a week in this lovely town but alas we had to keep moving onwards.
One fun perk- the British satellite TV. (we loved the ads! and listening to BBC radio, plus seeing all the pop music videos. haha it was most enjoyable!)
Thanks again Tony for humoring me in trying out your swimming pool even though it was quite too cold for swimming of any sort! :)
All around wonderful, charming people and a great experience. I highly recommend getting off the beaten path and staying in the country! Ambazac has been a highlight of our trip and we've now been to Paris, Limoges, Toulouse, Carcassonne and Avignon!
