About This Listing
Bright and Airy Mid Century peaceful getaway with sprawling desert views.
Welcome to the Saguaro Hideaway! We fell in love with the tranquility and peace of this special land and its uniquely beautiful terrain. The property not only hosts Joshua trees and Yucca but it also has mature Saguaro cactus and Pine trees scattered throughout. There are two houses on the property. The Saguaro Hideaway main house has 2 bedrooms/1 bath and a huge bonus sun-room. Across the way is the Saguro Hideaway guesthouse which is a darling 1 bedroom free standing apartment with sprawling desert views. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/4504195 The houses rest on 5 acres of land with stunning desert and boulder views in every direction. *Please note this is a shared property. The two houses are separated by the driveway but are positioned in a way that creates privacy. Pick a window in the house and catch a gorgeous sunset cascading down the nearby mountain range or relax outside on the patio at night and get lost in the star filled sky.
The house is a charming mid century abode. It is decorated with vintage bohemian vibes. The house is a colorful nest with artful touches throughout, musical instruments, plants and books! Great for artists, writers and families. There is free wifi throughout the house ( it is not the fastest) cooking supplies, a blender, french press, and an outdoor BBQ. We also have an i pod dock for tunes and shampoo and conditioner in case you forget! Both bedrooms have queen size beds with mattress pads for comfy nights sleep. We also have a high end queen blow up mattress that can be used in the sunroom for additional friends. The living room has a wood burning stove that you are welcome to use on colder nights. Feel free to bring some fire wood and have a toasty cabin experience. During warmer days in the desert we have a swamp cooler to blow breezy cool air throughout the house.
While staying at the Saguaro Hideaway you may see a slew of wildlife on the premises. We have seen hawks and an owl in the nearby pine trees as well as quail, hummingbirds, jack rabbits, a tortoise, road runners, coyotes and yes a bobcat has visited the patio!
We are a 5 minute drive to the park entrance, another 5 minute drive into town, right up the hill from the Onaga Conservation Open Space Preserve, and a 20 minute drive to the famous Pappy and Harriet's. Also, while in town some other places worth visiting are the Integratron in Landers, Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum, Dhamma Dena, a Vipassana Buddhist center, and the Lou Garrison project for live music.
We hope you enjoy this beautiful property as much as we have and hope your stay at the Saguaro Hideaway is an unforgettable one. Please tell us a little about yourselves and your plans in Joshua Tree. We look forward to hearing from you.
*Please note: dogs visit the house but we DO NOT ALLOW PETS
And this is a non smoking house hold.

Interaction with Guests
We are always available to answer any questions you may have over the phone and if we are in town we'd love to stop by and say hi.
The Saguaro Hideaway is very dear to us. During your stay we expect you to treat it with the same respect you would at your own house. There is no smoking indoors and no pets allowed. Other than that we hope you enjoy your time!
The Saguaro Hideaway was exactly as pictured and was very clean when we arrived. The decor was great, the beds were comfy and the landscaping was just what we were looking for. The house is located 5 minutes from the National Park and felt very private. We had a great time on our trip and the entire transaction was very simple and easy. We can't wait to go back!
This is really a beautiful place. We stayed there for 3 days. The Kids loved this place and we were excited by the design of the House the Great views and the quick Drive to the park
We were 2 couples staying at the house with 1 baby. The house is beautiful and reflects the eclectic taste of the owners! It offers even more gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains. Unfortunately, it was very windy during our stay and we could not sit out on the beautiful patio but it would have been a beautiful place for star-gazing! The kitchen is well-stocked (even has a pancake mix which made some yummy pancakes) with things including milk/butter. Even though we did not meet the owners, we felt very welcome. The only minor thing to watch out is the road leading to the house for the last half a mile is unpaved and bumpy, but if you take Rincon road -> Via Rocosa, it is better than taking Weaver Way (and would recommend getting in before dark)! Overall we had a great time and we will definitely stay here again!
We had a wonderful stay at Saguaro Hideaway. There's lots of open space indoors and out to enjoy. Even though there is a guest house on the property, the home provides ample privacy. The landscaping is exceptional – beautiful saguaros and other native plants. The neighborhood is very quiet and provides easy access to the park.
Malia and Jessica were communicative hosts and made us feel very welcome in their amazing home in JT. The place itself is magic, with a great vibe both inside and out. The main house is spacious and airy with stunning views all around. These girls have great taste and put some heartfelt thought into bringing the place to life with their creative and impeccable attention to detail and style. The pictures only do it half justice and I would highly recommend The Hideaway to anyone looking for a romantic getaway, family/friends outing or a place to just recharge and get inspired in the high desert... we'll certainly be back!
Malia was really great with communication and was really sweet. Their home is SO beautiful and looks exactly like the photos. Lots of natural light and decor that compliments the surrounding dessert in a modern way. It's about 5 minutes from Joshua Tree so we easily visited the park. We loved our stay.
WOW. What a BEAUTIFUL place! This was exactly what my best friend (in town visiting from Detroit) and I needed. Toasty, beautiful desert heat, cacti, and this incredible space to call our own for a few days. It was VERY easy to get comfortable, as Malia and Jessica have decorated this home with very intimate touches of simplistic beauty and even have a little jar on the counter to make pancakes (which were yummy :) ). Even upon arrival we are already anticipating a return visit. What a special retreat. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
