The space
Many of our guests come to meet the only Jilfan Sitam Malabar black Arabian horses in the country (think Black Stallion) and other heritage livestock. We encourage guests to find Barakah Heritage Farm and East West Equestrian Arts on social media to view the current seasonal farm activities and classes, including horsemanship lessons.
Guests enjoy a furnished open-air unheated rustic loft in the horse barn. Inside, the furnished guest quarters include 1 bedroom with living area, microwave, dorm fridge and coffee maker.
No television, no air conditioning, no heat, open air.
Our horses live downstairs from you, so expect the sights, smells and sounds of sharing your space with our friendly herd.
Guests are welcome to enjoy the property and also sign up for AirBnB Experiences or classes. This is a working farm in a rural setting, so please expect the sounds, smells and critters of country farm life. Spring peepers, crickets, cicadas, roosters crowing, horses and goats calling a greeting, and local wildlife hooting or barking are all sounds to expect. Depending on the season and local farm activities, you may smell freshly turned earth, compost, mowed grass or other farm odors. There are bugs on a working farm too. We are an organic operation, so there will be lady bugs, flies, ants, honey bees, spiders and other insects in the yard, as well as snakes and other wildlife. The loft is open to the barn, so expect insects. The livestock and property are guarded by a working donkey and livestock guardian dog. There may be dog barking or donkey braying during the night or early in the morning. We allow and encourage this, because that is part of their job.
Portable toilet and propane shower are down a flight of stairs at ground level.
Firewood for 1 fire in either fire ring is provided. Guests may provide additional firewood.
Never experienced a farm before? Please ask us for details. Bring a pair of boots and clothes that can get dirty if you plan to join us with the animals and farm activities. You may bring your horse(s). On site trails with a guide, or haul to nearby state lands. Bring your own corral, shelter, feed/hay. Water available.

Guest access
Guests have unlimited access to their loft and the fire ring and pond. Access within the horse enclosure by permission only, after an orientation tour. Horse, goat and other farm classes or volunteer projects are available upon request. Also check out our AirBnB Experiences. Help is always welcomed on a working homestead, so if you pack your casual clothes and mud boots, we are happy to have you pitch in with livestock care and other projects.
Your barn is shared with our herd, so expect farm staff and riders in the downstairs areas of the barn. Your downstairs bathroom is shared with barn visitors.

Other things to note
Linens are washed at the end of your visit (or weekly) in consideration of our precious water resources. Daily housekeeping is NOT provided. We will of course help clean in emergencies.
Barakah Farm is a working homestead. Expect some mild animal smells, animal sounds, free ranging poultry, an occasional barking livestock dog and other sights and sounds of rural living.
Please no smoking in the barn.

Horses, animals and country life are in our blood and bone and heart. Barakah Heritage Farm & East West are dreams coming to life. Living here, surrounded by amazing gorgeous elegant black Arabian horses, a big fluffy white dog, and so many more marvelous animals feels like a dream some days. As hosts, my husband and I desire to share this dream with you and introduce you to this incredibly beautiful land and our rare heritage animals. We are happy to leave you to relax on your own, or share our knowledge with you on a guided tour. We are both published authors, and offer a variety of classes related to wellness, animals and homesteading here at the farm, as well as AirBnB animal Experiences (please see AirBnB Experiences and our website barakah.farm for more details) The farm is about relaxing, unplugging, tuning in to the animals and nature, and maybe learning something new.
