Interaction with Guests
The place is totally yours. But I will leave some breakfast for you. Just let me know what you like and I will do my best. And I can give you tips if you want. East Side Gallery, Alexanderplatz and everything is in walking distance. But I can tell you the real good points. I will provide some tips for you while checking in.
Our street and block is very silent and new. Its on the old border strip between east and west. Between the two new young centers of Kreuzberg and Mitte. And both are in walking distance. Silence if you want, but also on the edge of cultural life if you want.
You can also do great walking tour on the Berlin Wall walk way. Actually our house is direcly ON the border strip. Go straight/left and you follow a wonderfull green Parkstrip to the River Spree and than East Side Galery. Or go right and you see courius changes along the Wall and secret places until you reach Checkpoint Charlie (see some of my pictures for that tour).
The north south Line U8 is very close. Heinrich Heine Straße or Moritzplatz. Or you can even walk to famous old U1 stop Kottbusser Tor on the east-west Line. There is also a Metrobus M29 that connects you to old Center of Zoo and Kurfürstendamm. Its almost like a city tourist tour with that bus because you pass Friedrichstraße and Checkpoint Charlie. But its cheaper ;-)
If you arrive by plane, the easiest way is always to go to Alexanderplatz. Thats where a lot of buses, subways and trains connect. We are just two stations south with U8 direction (Hermannstraße/Boddingstraße). If you have not that much baggage and come from Schoenefeld you could also take a direct train to Ostbahnhof and walk from there.
Other Things to Note
Please dont smoke. And we have organic food in the shafts for you prepared. And if the weather is good you can use our huge brasilian hammock or two big black outside pillows for the balconies. Thats great to take a nap in the afternoon sun.
If you are more than two persons just realize, that there are just two rooms. One is the bedroom with a big bed, and one is the living/eating room with a big couch. But if one or two people sleep in the living room its not so nice to live there ;-). And please dont book more than two person if you need a dark sleeping place. Becuase in the living room you will slidely be waked up by the sunrise. There aer curtains but beside there is a windowdoor that is shiny. And for the people in the bed, its a very soft matrace. Some people might have problems with that because hotels usually have harder matraces. Mine is more like a cloud.
If toiletpaper or washinggel is empty, there should be something in the small room. Dishwaschingtabs and Gel is behind the trashcans in the kitchen. Same as new plasticbags for trash.
- If other people in the house ask you, you are just guests/friends (dont say you rent the place)
- strictly no smoking
- feel free to use our stable food
- no partying and please not so extreme loud kids. the neighbours will call the landlord or police immediately
- leave apartment the way you found it. But you don't have to clean it up that much
- we need copies of passports of all guests
- there are free public parking spaces in front of the house. you can use them
- If you have any emergency with the appartment, call my dad (number is on the table). If you have health issues there is some medicine in the kitchen (right shaft on top). just in case german police number is 110 and health emergency 112 (you can use the Smartphone for that or the telefone (left behind the couch)
- please be aware that airbnb is a portal for private places. some guest expect steril hotel stuff or commercial holiday appartments. this place is my appartment with my personal stuff. If you dont like this, dont use airbnb
- please be aware that the appartment is usaully for two person (as discribed). But its possible for two more person (young kids for example) to sleep on the couch (see the pictures!!!). And that its a couch in the living room and not a bed in a sleeping room. So not that dark.
Maurice was very hospitable when we arrived. He offered us complimentary breakfast and wine, which was a nice gesture.
The location is in the heart of Mitte. A great area to stay in if you want to visit Berlin.
My friends and I had a great time at Maurice's "birds nest". We felt welcome from the start. We appreciated all the tourist info left for us, Maurice went out his way to make the sofa into a bed & to organise us getting the keys earlier in the day. Thank you so much
Super acceuil.
Ideal location, very welcoming place.
Very quiet but also central and close access to U-Bahn. We felt like home and had an amazing time in Berlin.
Merci beaucoup pour l'accueil, très accueillant! Appartement bien situé hyper sympa avec tout le confort et une vue magnifique sur le lac!
Très bon séjour à Berlin!
We enjoyed our stay at Maurice's the view and description was just as described in the advertisement. The accomodations were more than I expected with food and wine and candy and much more at our disposal. Maurice's Dad met us and was such a gentleman.
The location was easy to get to public transit. If and when we are back in Berlin we would love to come again. There were 3 of us and we had plenty of room.
Nous etions 3 amis, et sommes venu dans l'appartement de Maurice pour le week end. L'appartement est très bien situé et la vue est terrible. L'accueil fut plus que chaleureux, et le frigo etait rempli pour le petit dejeuné du lendemain. Parfait. Un grand merci
