The Space

Here you have one foot in the town and the other in the countryside. Uncomfortable? Not a bit!
On the 1st floor and with a terrace overlooking the valley below (where there are lovely walks around the spring where the Romans channeled their water across the Pont-du-Gard and to Nimes) this apartment is ideal for 2 or for 2 with a child.
It has a large livingroom with single couch/bed for the occasional guest or child, fully equipped kitchen/dining with direct access to the sunny terrace.
Brand new bathroom with spacious shower and a bedroom with double bed.
150m away is the lively Place aux Herbes with a plethora of cafes and small restaurants, all the other delights of Uzes are maybe another 50-100m at a leisurely pace...on foot of course.
On the same square you have also the bi- weekly Provencale markets, a must to see and to be seen at!
The shopping is good too.
Uzes, apart from being one the most attractive small French towns (and that takes quite something!) is also a great base for visiting Avignon, Arles, Nimes, St Remy and countless little historical places in between.
The Mediterranean is around one hour away, closer to home, there is good swimming in the river Gardon, upstream from the Pont-du-Gard. Plus a nice public pool in Uzès.
Very cheap bus services connect Uzès to Avignon, Nimes and a number of nearby villages.

A Cleaning & Laundry fee of 65 Euros is due on arrival.
Security deposit of 200 Euros (can be other currency) also due on arrival & returned on departure subject to damage.
There is central heating for the winter period at cost.

There is a ADSL (fast Internet connection) Wifi and telephone with free or reduced call charges.
Bus services run to Nimes & Avignon as well as some of the villages around.
Bike hire in nearby St Quentin. (village velo on the net) or in Uzès.
Avignon, 35 kms away, has a TGV (fast train) service to Paris (2 1/4 hours) and to Marseille (1/2 hour) and beyond to Nice. Nimes too has TGV & trains for Spain go from here.

Ask me for any other connections and information you may need.

  • I very much enjoyed staying in Christina's apartment. Unfortunetaly I didn't have a chance to meet her in person but I was equally friendly welcomed by Stephanie.
Uzes is an amazingly beautiful little town. Christina's apartment is very comfortable and well equipped. The balcony overlooking the little valley makes it the best place to enjoy some time in Uzes.

  • Staying at Christina's apartment was a dream! We loved how it looked in the photos, but the space was even better in reality. It was very stylish, spacious, with a gorgeous private terrace that we spent much time on, sipping wine or enjoying a meal, watching the sun go down. Very comfortable chairs, couches and bed, and a great location within the centre of Uzes, easy walking access to everything. We really could not have wanted for anything more and it's my personal favourite of all the airbnbs we have stayed in so far in our 10 week journey around Europe. Thank you Christina! We also got to meet Christina, which was lovely. Highly recommend this property.

  • All very good. Uzes is a delightful town with the best market we've experienced in years of travelling to France. Christina's apartment is also a delight. We particularly enjoyed the morning sunshine whilst breakfasting on the balcony - wonderful views, swifts swooping overhead, cuckoo calling and a pair of hoopoes nesting nearby. But the apartment is also ideal for relaxing and reading during the day and evening. Terrific high ceilings and interesting furnishing. Always something to watch from the high windows. It's an ideal location with immediate access to the bustle of the town or - our favourite - a morning or evening walk into the valley and up into the limestone hills. Christina was an excellent host - helpful and informative but unobtrusive. We were there for 12 days but would have liked to stay 12 weeks. My only slight regret is that we hired a car at the TGV station in Avignon. Essential if you want to get out to some of the smaller villages. But parking in Uzes is competitive, there's so much to do locally if you're prepared to walk and the bus service is both reliable and cheap. Maximum fare, e.g. to Nimes, is 1.50 Euros. We could have done the whole trip using the buses.

  • This is a nicely furnished, comfortable apartment in a lovely little town. It has a well equipped kitchen and a good shower room. As per the other reviews, the terrace is great! We hired bikes in Uzes, and enjoyed visiting the Pont du Gard (30km round trip on quiet roads). Local buses are also pretty good, and will get you to Nimes, Avignon and various of the small villages. In Uzes, the markets are fun, and the tower in the medieval garden is well worth a visit - good views over town. We had a really good time!

  • The location was perfect and the view from the balcony was spectacular. The building itself was old and charming, with lots of character. Christina was very accommodating as well. We enjoyed Uzes a lot and can't wait to go back.

  • For walkers, the Portalet is a veritable trailhead to valley and hilltop trails which serpentine around to quaint villages.
Cyclists will also delight in the myriad of roads, trails and byways around the town. A few hills, vinyards, farms, woods, remnants of Roman engineering are just a few things within range.
prefer to enjoy the local cuisine? There is a biweekly food market with a wonderful array of fresh produce, cheese, wines and vinegars and fresh spices. If you would rather someone else prepare the repast, there are several exceptional restaurants for your chosen.
History? Look around. Nature? from the balcony. It's all perfect.
The apartment itself is warm, welcoming and inviting. Christina met us and gave a good orientation to her well stocked kitchen, access to WIFI (which was 100%consistent) and directions for shopping and parking.
This a place which we could relax in and make the most of our short stay in Uzes.

  • I stayed at Christina's place for 3 weeks last October while I was working on a book I am writing. Prior to my trip, I had spent weeks looking for the perfect place where I would feel inspired and surrounded by the beauty and charm of a quaint small town. Since I was going to be on my own, it also had to be a place that I would feel comfortable being on my own & without the need for a car.

As soon as I discovered Uzes and Christina's apartment I knew I had found the perfect place. Yet upon arriving there, I quickly discovered that they were even more beautiful than in the photos. Uzes is 1 of the most beautiful, charming and special places I have ever seen & Christina's apartment is the perfect place to nestle in and feel at home there....cozy, warm, inviting, beautiful views from the terrace, and within walking distance to everything.

Christina was a wonderful, helpful, and very gracious host. She always checked in with me beforehand for the few times that she needed to stop by the apartment. And she even offered me a ride to the apartment from the Nimes train station, since she was traveling back to Uzes on the same day that I was arriving.

I will definitely return to Uzes 1 day, and when I do, I would love to stay at Christina's place again.

  • Although we didn't have a chance to spend any deal of time with Christina, our brief welcome was warm and receiving. She emailed in the weeks leading up to our stay to ensure we had the easiest access to her place and to take care of any questions we had.
Her place is indescribable as words. nor pictures, can do it justice. A Perfect first time Airbnb stay! Highly reocmmended!

Quite nomadic from way back, I adore traveling and moved about a lot prior to choosing France and Uzès as a more permanent home. Love it here and enjoy seeing visitors falling under the spell of our little town. I do believe that I am in a good position to advise and help anyone staying in my apartment in our delightful small town in what is now, my 5th adopted country and the one in which I have lived the longest. Though frequent get-aways are still on the books, wherever and whenever.
