The Space

About the property
Looking for a luxurious and welcoming home away from home for your next holiday? A cosy, family run Goan – Portuguese villa that can sleep 6 people comfortably, the master bedroom has an attached study(Futon) with a bathroom and the second bedroom his en-suite, but feel free to bring in your own mattresses if you have a larger group and don’t mind bunking down on the floor, of course at a price ! And yes, your pets are welcome too, if you think they deserve a vacation as well – there’s plenty of room for them

It is a house full of colour and character, a far cry from the overgrown ruin it was when we bought it. We have been able to retain the house’s Goan-Portuguese
essence while adding our own aesthetic understanding to make it an oasis of sophisticated simplicity.
Stay with us if you want to escape from the rigours of daily life or simply have a relaxed time in Goa without the touristy madness. It’s perfect for an idyllic family vacation or a chat-fest with your buddies.

Attractions and distance
We are located on a River Island, a tributary of the Mandovi with stunning views of the river and paddy fields.

Getting here is a bit of an adventure involving a ferry crossing so the house really does feel like a private hideaway. We're approximately an hour away from the Dabolim airport.
popular North Goa Beaches like Candolim, Calangute, Anjuna & Baga are a 35 minute drive, and the nearest railway station is Tivim which is a 15 minute drive.
We're a 5 minute drive from the town of Aldona. The region of Aldona is extremely interesting with historical Churches and The Corjuem Fort.

Location – neighborhood description
Here, you will find all the creature comforts of a hotel without the attendant impersonality. Instead, the atmosphere is one of warmth and old fashioned grace, here you can simply relax after a hard day exploring the region.

Pets Allowed
Free Parking
Washer & dryer

The villa comes with a fully loaded kitchen, with all access to the utensils and appliances though we recommend the option to order in food from Elsa’s Kitchen, A fantastic cook with an incredible story, Please ask Rajesh our caretaker for her contact numbers and the menu card. Its much cheaper than going out to eat !

For Guest

If you're planning on bringing your pets, do let us know, as we would be charging a separate fees for accommodating them.

We do not have a car or a 2 wheeler on hire but on request recommend a few vendors in the area who deal with taxi and 2 wheeler hire.

We want you to know that this is our Family Holiday Home, and that we treat all our guests as part of our extended family, and hope you feel the same way about us

Welcome to Sundays Forever !

  • We stayed at this beautiful villa for a week. It was truly an exceptional time. Not only the Villa is situated in the most enchanted village with its beautiful garden but the house caretaker Rajesh, his family and two very friendly dogs made us feel home from home. Throughout our stay Gunjan had stayed in contact and was extremely informative. We will return to Calvim House as it has left a very special place in our hearts.

  • Excellent property for 2 families travelling together or for a big group of 6 or 8 members. Even though it is 45 minutes away from the immediate next attraction if you plan and hire a car or rent a car with your own driving you are always free to start and reach any where in time.
Once after seeing any place and return to your place, you are in Heaven. Absolutely relaxing.
Breakfast, lunches or dinners are OK when ordered from nearby kitchen. If you can cook simple food you can enjoy it.If sight seeing and relaxing are your plans in mind in GOA this place is SUPERB.

  • This was a first trip to Goa for most of our family members and we were little nervous going out during the peak season of New Year.
But the time we entered "Sunday's forever" it felt that our vacations will be enjoyable. Calm and peace which surrounds this place makes you stay in the villa instead of venturing out to tourist spots.
I will list down the pros and cons :
Pros : 1. Very neat and clean and fully furnished villa.(including a furnished kitchen)
    2. Facilities matches a 3 to 5 star hotel.
    3. There is no noise or air pollution.
    4. The caretaker Rajesh is very helpful and provides you with desired food items and travel tips which makes your trip comfortable.
    5. Badminton court.
    6. Daily cleaning services including utensil cleaning.
    7. Half the price as compared to a similar villa near to a beach.

    Cons :
    1. It is at the end of the Aldona and without a vehicle you cannot think of venturing out. If you want to visit any beach you cannot think of coming back to the villa for few hours in between and going back on the same day.
It will take minimum 30-45 mins to reach the nearest beach by car.

Overall it is a great place to enjoy a lovely vacation in Goa. I would surely book it if I plan another vacation in future.
Thanks Gunjan for providing a great vacation home for travelers.

  • A delightful, peaceful home. Far away from the busy beach crowds. The family had a great couple of days here. Thank you.

  • Sitting here on a cold, misty wet day in Ireland cherishing my hot whiskey my thoughts stray easily to Goa, particularly to a most incredible vacation spent together with my family at “Sundays Forever”.
“Sundays Forever” is an epitome of serenity for the modern day traveller, the perfect marriage of the old with the new. The design and architecture is a blend of Portuguese and Goan and the interior is tastefully decorated by owners Gunjan and his beautiful wife Priyanka.

My profession allows me to travel all over Europe and stay in the most exclusive of 5 star resorts and hotels they have to offer. “Sundays Forever” fulfilled all our expectations and more- due to its uniqueness and character. I can confidently say that it is second to none in terms of ambience, cleanliness, privacy, price and overall quality of service.

“Sundays Forever” is an oasis of tranquillity where you can rise and bask in the morning sunrise with a cup of Indian Chai, play badminton in the afternoon, doze of in the hammock reading Sherlock Holmes afterwards and later settle down in the veranda after dinner to soak the sunset. A nice Merlot, some Valrhona Chocolate and a Cuban cigar to puff on and you are in business!

I would highly recommend “Sundays Forever” to all my fellow travellers who would like to enjoy true Goan hospitality and still be far away from the general trappings and chores associated with the monotonousness of touristy and overpriced hotels around the corner.

Special kudos and thanks to Rajesh the caretaker of the property .Nothing ever seemed to be a problem for him and his wife. A big warm smile, genuinely welcoming nature and a complete “Yes I Can” attitude made him a standout. He won all our hearts and by the end of the trip he became part of the family.

A million thanks Gunjan for making it special for us!
We look forward to visiting you soon!

    Your Friends,

  • I stayed at Sundays Forever between the 5th and the 8th of December. Now I have to say, I have been to Goa several times, but this was probably my best trip. Gunjan's home is far away from conventional touristy trappings of Goa and for me that was the biggest draw.

As soon as I had completed my booking on Airbnb, Gunjan personally called to assure me that he would assist me in any query I had. He sent me the numbers for the cab service and the closest restaurant a month before I had even landed in Goa knowing that I was slightly concerned about being on an island. But in the end I think that was the best thing about the place. The ferry ride on the first night was so calming and the perfect beginning to my holiday.

Someone else I have to mention here is Rajesh, the caretaker at Sunday's Forever. He was extremely helpful and ensured everything I needed was ordered and stocked in the kitchen by the time I got there. He has done a great job making sure the house is kept in pristine condition. With his infectious smile, Rajesh made sure we were all comfortable and felt completely at home.

The home is beautifully done up and is replete with all the comforts you could need (including an iron, badminton rackets and good music). The kitchen is also fully equipped (just in case you find culinary therapy relaxing). Also there are two cute little dogs (Scooby and Toasty) to brighten up your mornings.

The home is about an hour's drive away from the more prominent beaches in Goa so you would certainly want to engage a cab service and the guy to call would be Sanjay from Sai-Sanvi (just ask Gunjan for the number when you make the booking). You could tell Sanjay was a proud Goan, he showed us around like a host and ensured we experienced the best Goa had to offer.

Some things you need to know before you get there: The home is on an island, so you might not have immediate access to grocery stores or super-markets, just make sure you tell Rajesh about what you might need during your stay. And travelling around Goa would take time, getting to the south would take around 2 hours drive time, so be prepared.

All in all I would highly recommend Sunday's Forever. Like I told Gunjan, for me leaving was probably the hardest part of the trip. But then again, I will probably back soon.

    Response from Gunjan:

Dear Akshata, Thank you for the wonderul review of our property, Sundays Forever. I just had one clarification to make, that while south goa beaches are approx 2 hours drive from our place, the popular north goa beaches Anjuna, Vagator, Bagga are just a 20- 25 minute drive from our place and not an hour as you've mentioned. Thanks once again for sharing your experience, we look forward to seeing you back at our homestay soon. Gunjan

The property is great the host has taken a lot of pains in redevelop the property to 5 star standards. Those who are interested in experiencing a typical Goan lifestyle in a small village with a strong Portuguese heritage…. This is the one for you.

21st century Goa is unfortunately chaotic with no proper road signs and the traffic is bad. Age old problem… cars have increased in number but the roads have remained the same.

In order to have a full and complete experience I recommend the following for future guests.

    1. All international travelers always ask the host (Gunjan) to arrange for an airport pick up. This is important so that you start your holiday on a good note rather then being bothered about directions and transportation.

    2. Explore Goa on your own. Its best to get lost and you find hidden jewels. Avoid the obvious locations they are too crowded.

    3. Those who are adventurous and prefer driving around then the best is to rent your own self drive car. You can contact Nigel on his mobile (phone number hidden). He lives 10 mins away in the next village. It is convenient in terms of handing the car over to him after your rental period and he can then drive you to the airport.

The host – Mr. Gunjan Mehrish – I haven’t had the opportunity to meet him in person. But I hope to the next time I go to India. Perfect gentleman to do business with extremely trustworthy. My fellow Airbnb users are in safe hands. He makes an extra effort to make your stay comfortable.

The Caretaker – Rajeesh – Great human resource to have. Most efficient person I met on my trip. To all my fellow Airbnb users who are likely to stay at this property. You guys are in safe hands.

    Good luck and happy holidays!!!

  • Sundays Forever was a perfect getaway choice. A beautiful villa tucked away from the noisy Goa and yet accessible, surrounded by well kept gardens and the interiors done up very aesthetically. It really fit into the phrase “Home, away from our home”. Everything about that place was warm and inviting, trust me, one cannot help but love this place. Above all, the place was impeccably clean and well-maintained, which is a rarity for us travelers.

The one thing to be aware of for a fellow traveler, is the location and distance from the beach. Please make sure you have a peak at the map and make plans for transport.

Definitely a wonderful place, and on our list of “Visit-Again”.
    Thank you.
