We believe in responsible, mindful, educated travellers.
Our main rule? ~;+) mindfulness IS happiness ~;+)
We have set up a few IMPORTANT points, inspired by experience. Kindly please read.
— Compulsory, upon arrival: a HARD copy of each passport's relevant pages (including children) for Police declaration, for all foreigners (NO Xerox machine, no printer at our office, sorry...).
— Spring Mineral JUG dispenser (20L) use it for tea-coffee-washing fruit/veggies – preparing meals – and much BETTER than buying single-use plastic bottles; price is 25K Rp, pls settle on arrival, leave payment on the table, thk U.
- BREAKFAST: self service - consists of: • Tea, Bali grown Coffee (not 'instant'), creamer, sugar
- Mindfulness is about respect and consideration of others and of the environment Please share our ECO-FRIENDLY approach:
- - Switch OFF lights AND fans before going out!
- - Be conservative with your use of WATER, a very precious resource here.
- - Washing your clothes in the accommodation is NOT allowed. => Contact us for your Laundry
- • We RECYCLE Metal cans, glass & PLASTIC bottles: keep them SEPARATE from other garbage
- - Our soap is diluted, to LIMIT toxic, harmful waste in our homes, ground water, rivers and streams.
- - Smoking is allowed OUTSIDE only. NOT in the room. Please dispose your cigarettes in an ashtray, NOT in the garden.
- PETS: We love them. Yet we reserve the right to allow them on the property. Kindly please TALK TO US first.
- SAFETY: Our place is very safe. Nevertheless, we advise our guests to act in a responsible way:
- - Lock your door & Main Gate, close your windows whenever going out.
- - keep your valuables INSIDE a cabinet, rather than in plain sight..
- - OPEN FLAMES (candles, incense, oil burners, gas cooker...) : NEVER leave them unattended for obvious safety reasons, for yourself & others. Make sure to keep them on a METAL/GLASS plate.
- - WATER HEATER is already set up: please do not change it - if need be, contact us asap, our Maintenance man will do it.
- - Bring your OWN FLASH LIGHT with you when coming or going after dark. - there are about 30 STEPS to access the Jungalow, nothing "athletic", and there is a railing to hold on to.
- - Be aware that PATHWAYS AND STEPS can be SLIPPERY. Moss, mold, rain, etc, can be expected. Stay FOCUS & AWARE.
- ELECTRICITY, Water, Internet service: While these are all currently active in the listing, from time to time there can be a LAPSE in their accessibility due to the more primitive infrastructure of services on the island. Nothing can be done about this and does NOT constitute a valid reason for cancelling with the expectation of a refund. We appreciate your understanding regarding this.
- - USEFUL INFOS: - Our employees are OFF from 2PM - AirBnB hosting is NOT like staying at a Hotel:
- - NO 24/7 Reception Desk open for a welcome service; Owner and employees do NOT live on-site
- - Always mention your ARRIVAL TIME so KEYS can be organised for you
- - Make sure to use our OWN drivers rather than an unknown taxi (Addresses in Bali rarely have a clear Nr mentioned on the street)
- - Our own driver knows all the short cuts, the KEYS, the lights, our private contact Nr.
- - These advices are meant to assist you, specially if you are a new comer in Bali and S/E Asia... and remain of course entirely up to you.

What an amazing place. It's a bit outside of town, so not the most convenient to walk around and experience Ubud, but if you want a little solitude, this place is a magical little jungle hideaway. It's also only a short motorbike ride to the center of Ubud (maybe 15 minutes, depending on traffic), and there are plenty of great restaurants, cafes, yoga studios around. All the details in the house are so well thought out, the hosts were very communicative, and a wealth of knowledge. The view is also amazing and the river is beautiful. Amazing deal for the money. Would definitely stay here again.

Cant but give a THUMS UP to such review... So glad our work is appreciated in terms of keeping the BUNGALOW space in good order, clean, maintained. APPRECIATED that u mentioned the restaurants, cafes and yoga places; details "so well thought out", our good and fast communication (essential) and... the "wealth of knowledge" is the icing on the cake.. THANK YOU for taking time to mention all the best positive aspects at the LOFT.

This was the most magical place I stayed in all of Bali. As soon as I walked in it felt like home. The Windows filled the rooms with light, the decorations were so well considered, the backyard was perfect for tea and meditation overlooking the jungle. The ceiling is thin though! The people above me arrived late at night and began to rearrange furniture! Even with the noise, I felt like I wanted to move in! It's further from Central Ubud than I thought, but well worth it. Make sure you have a scooter (and can drive it well) or get the number of someone who can scooter taxi you to the city, or just sit back and relax without going to Ubud. There are a lot of stairs (I enjoyed, my partner did not) and it felt like I was really in Bali. Past our residence there were more stairs that led through overgrown plants and down to the river. There were no tourists there, and even small open gazebos for meditation over the hillside. It was absolute and pure magic. I look forward to staying here again the next time I come to Bali.

THE "most magical place" in bali ! this is indeed a great compliment and rejoices our hearts... we are more than happy to see that our guests love the AYUNG RIVER banks: true, no tourists there, open gazebos to take a rest and contemplate the view... Scooters are the easiest way to explore Ubud, its cheap and takes you not only to town (10Min away) for a lovely dinner, a performance or else - but also to the rice terraces, temples, waterfalls - some people even go up to the volcano or the beach side, about 1Hr away!

The loft is lovely, beautiful view and trendy decor. It is smack down in the middle of nature (which is awesome), so perhaps we should have been more prepared to deal with the plethora of insects and little critters. We had 4 people in our group, I think the loft is meant to really only accommodate 3 or less. And there are quite a few stairs to get down to the loft, so pack lightly!! Also, the water went off twice during our one week stay, but it was promptly fixed. So not a huge issue, just something to note:) Overall we enjoyed our stay, it was fun and different and Tini was very helpful.

Response from Tini:
THANK YOU, Miss Sam for your positive comment about "beautiful view and trendy decor": many art pieces are original paintings by Balinese artists, along with sculptures from local Indonesian Papou tribes found by the owner, an art collector with a good eye... The LOFT provides One Queen size bed for two, one day bed for one pers, one Futon: we host entire families with parents and two children with enough space for all as the LOFT has a 90M2 surface. "insects and little critters": yes, it is called the 'JUNGALOW" for that reason, located within the JUNGLE. and insects are part of the Eco-system, useful, each one has its role in the whole. "pack lightly" YES, certainly, this is a moto for wise World Travellers, specially cause Bali, Indonesia and all over South East Asia clothes, shoes, toiletry things are very cheap. Better enjoy a few hours shopping around.. "the water went off": it is actually mentioned in our Listing; Bali is still struggling with water issues due to tourism demands, yet we always react swiftly to any such issue and immediately send our Maintenance Man, Mr Nyoman, who brings things to a quick resolution. Lucky us, and lucky you, a bit of "Robinson-like" experience, not such a bad thing, makes us realize how precious water is and how spoilt we are in the West !

OUR DRIVERS offer this extra caring service: taking care of our Guests ALL THE WAY, carrying (sometimes heavy) luggage, down the steps, OPENING the apartment door, showing where are the lights, the Internet, making SURE Guests are SAFELY set up before leaving. WOW - is all I can say! I spent 15 days in the JUNGALOW - and it became my little Home. The Windows are almost to the Floor - and you have this wrap around awesome / awestruck view of the Jungle and view of the River below. Plus the place is huge. There was enough room to put a Dining Table for 14 People if you wanted to. And also there is a little Courtyard outside with 2 chairs and a Laundry line - that I took advantage of. MARIE was extremely helpful with guiding me on who to connect with and became a close Friend to me while I was there. I took a few more Photos before I left because I knew I would miss it. It was my absolute HEAVEN for 15 days. So nice, quiet, and peaceful. And a small taxi or moped ride into Ubud - which was very easy. I highly recommend you stay here. I wish I could have stayed longer. Thanks Again MARIE BEE! Love - Julie from Texas .

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Jungalow garden floor apartment for 4 days and loved every minute (apart from maybe the minor apartment mix-up and the hikes up and down the stairs...). The garden apartment is completely charming and the view over the river valley spectacular. We really appreciated Marie's responsiveness to all of our questions and kind assistance with organizing a tour, transportation and providing tips about what we could see and do around Ubud. Her driver, Made, was especially wonderful and we would most happily recommend him to anyone else who wants to explore Bali with a knowledgeable, friendly, polite and generally excellent private tour guide and driver. The apartments are indeed a bit far from the centre of Ubud but are provide easy access to hiking/ sunbathing/ swimming/ lots of picture taking along the gorgeous river valley and the centre is also easily accessible by scooter or taxi. If we have a chance to come back to Bali, we would certainly want to stay at the garden jungalow again! Thank you for a lovely experience!

Unless you are on a very tight budget and have absolutely nowhere else to possibly stay when you come to Ubud, I would NOT recommend staying at the Jungalow. We should have known from the very moment that Marie ordered our driver to bring us to the Jungalow immediately, even though we had just sat down to eat a meal that this was going to be a negative experience. The worst part was that she had emailed me the night before telling me that she would not be here to greet us but that Mr. Wayan, her caretaker, would be here and he would show us around to explain how to work all the lights and such. When our driver told us we had to leave the restaurant, we had just put in our food order and had to ask for them to box our meal so that we could take it with us. When we arrived to Jungalow, Marie was in a foul mood and did not so much as smile when greeting us. When I mentioned that her email from the night before said she wouldn’t be here, her reply was that “her plans had changed.” So just because her plans had changed, apparently we now were expected to be there at her beck and call?! She could have emailed me that morning to tell me that her plans had changed and would appreciate it if we came directly to the apartment so that she could list off her house rules or she could have simply said she was sorry for the inconvenience and politely excused herself when I asked if I’d mistaken what I had read (but I guess that was too much to ask for). Her plans had changed, so now our day had to shift to meet her agenda. Marie needs to realize that people are here on vacation and in our case on our honeymoon, and as adults, we do not need to be treated and made felt the way she made us feel. She listed off all of the house rules (and there are quite a number of them, so you may want to have pen and paper ready), she rudely shooed our driver out the door and up the staircase like he was a stray dog that she wanted off her premises and was most unpleasant. And to top things off, she knew that the lady who was here to rent us our scooter could not speak English and she never so much as took a minute to ask us if we knew how to get to the city center or asked us if we had any questions at all for that matter. She had left by the time the scooter lady came in to have us sign our rental paperwork. Luckily our driver had been kind enough to explain the route in detail when he was bringing us here in a frantic rush. You would have thought that our being here was a major inconvenience and she just wanted it over and done with. The way she treated us is no way to treat guests and she should realize that first impressions truly change how you feel when you arrive to a place away from your own home. As for the actual Jungalow apartment, I find it strange that no one who has previously stayed here mentioned that there are not a few steps, but rather a good number of very steep steps to get to the place with uneven heights and the stairs are very steep, so if you suffer from any knee pains at all, this is NOT the place to stay (there are about 75 steps to take before you get to the door of the Garden Room Apartment). I don’t even want to think about having to haul our bags back up to the road. This is the first time since arriving to Bali that neither my husband nor I slept a wink and have been greeted by such an unpleasant host. The bed (if you can call it that) smells of mold, the linens all smell of mold, the bed creaks anytime you so much as shift an arm, the fans don’t blow onto the bed either so if it’s a muggy night, good luck. As for the kitchen, the plates were covered in dust and we had to wash everything before using it, and you really have to think twice before cooking because you only have 4 cooking utensils and the pans are in pretty poor shape. Then there are things like the toilet that doesn’t look like it has been cleaned and you must “gently” pull the lever. There are instructions on the toilet that actually say “DO NOT THROW ANYTHING IN THE TOILET UNLESS YOU HAVE EATEN IT” . Who writes something like this, honestly? Lastly, if you are staying here, you MUST rent a scooter since you are pretty far removed from the center of Ubud. All in all, we were supposed to stay here for 3 nights but there is NO AMOUNT OF MONEY that you could pay my husband nor I to stay another night here. This is a neglected apartment with a nice view, if I were to sum it up in one sentence.
