About this listing
26 Gordon Street has been my home for fifteen years
It is in Ringsend in Dublin 4 and 10 - 15 minutes walk from the centre of town.
I renovated the house as a design (URL HIDDEN) is quite unusual and featured extensively in the media.
The house is unique. It is on 3 levels with the bed on a mezzanine on the top floor. all the spaces run together without rooms as such to maximise the feeling of openness and light.
The guests have exclusive access to the entire house...but as there is one double bed it really only suits 2 people...who are getting on....
Interaction with Guests
As much as they want. I imagine that some want to be shown the house and left in peace...and others would like a tour of the area...or to have things explained about Dublin etc. which I enjoy doing...But the house is let as an entity so as soon as they are settled I let them get on with it
The house is in a part of town that has undergone extensive renewal. The house is in a small section of streets that were originally workers houses. The house is literally around the corner from (website hidden) and AirBNB. The area is often referred to as Silicon Docks....
There is a Train Station around the corner at Grand Canal Dock. Two Dublin Bike Stations around also around the corner as are Go Car stations and Buses and a Taxi rank. The Luas tram system is 1.3km away at the O2. There is paid on street parking...I can get parking discs if guest let me know in advance
Other Things to Note
The house is not suitable for children and the stairs are suitable for use by abled bodied persons only...
I have compiled a guide to the house and its environs which is more extensive than this section allows. I email it to all guests in advance
I enjoy having people stay in the house but I can only make it work if people stay a minimum of two nights, and a minimum of one week is someone wants to stay over Christmas.
Generally I am easy going with Check ins and Check outs but I do need some notice as I work full time and have to make arrangements to let people in.
I would prefer if they didn't smoke in the house. And not play any music and the TV at a level that respects the neighbours....use the handrail when going up and down the stairs...other than that just enjoy themselves...
I am an architect and teach design in the Dublin Institute of Technology
I have lived and travelled all over the world. I went to school in Malaysia, Jamaica and Tipperary in Ireland. I have hitch hiked across Australia (probably not the wisest thing I've done) and made fibre board boxes in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
I love Dublin and all the urban resonances but also love to get out to rural Carlow where I have a holiday home
I have a not so secret fascination with baseball...and have seen more than a few Springsteen concerts....
