Pete's apartment is spotlessly clean and the large comfortable bedroom has impressive views over the river. Despite the central location the area is quiet at night and conveniently located to explore Basel, with a tram stop right outside the door.
Pete is a helpful, engaging and interesting host. Over a relaxed breakfast, Pete spent time acquainting us with the locality. His local knowledge provided an extra dimension to our brief stay in this delightful City. This was our first AirBnB booking. I highly recommend Pete and his apartment to you. Thank you for an excellent stay.
Pete was fabulous! The morning airport pickup was outstanding , take the Swiss exit!; the tram pass made getting around easy; and then we toured Basel in the afternoon. Pete had time to show us around and we were pleasantly surprised with the ECO fair in late March.
If you want a clean place to stay, then book here! The room was large enough for the two of us and a child can sleep on the futon. We wear socks or slippers in our own home so it was easy in his home. The room is right on the Rhine River and the ferry is just outside! There's a bakery next door and several restaurants in walking distance. Breakfast was served on our schedule and was very nice with an egg, juice, coffee, hot chocolate, bread, jam and cheese. Try the rosehips jam~ simply delicious and a Basel favorite!
Pete is a very nice gentleman and we would recommend him to family and friends. Enjoy!
Pete is the perfect host: friendly but not intrusive. The appartment was impeccably clean, beautiful and directly on the river. This was our first bed & breakfast experience, having stayed at hotels before, and it was wonderful! We traveled as a couple, but even as a woman alone, I would feel perfectly safe and comfortable there - truly nice area of Basel and safe appartment (locks, etc). We would very highly recommend to anyone staying in Basel and we will definitely try to stay with Pete again for our future trips to Baselworld.
A very comfortable stay with a great host. I particularly enjoyed the seasonal Basel specialty, fastenwahe, for breakfast. Recommended!
Our Stay at Pete's place in Basel was just great. He gave us so many hints and good advice on what to do in Basel according to what was our mood that we had a really wonderful time. The room is just great and the breafkast so nice: he shared with us his passion for tea and his knowledge of Basel and Basel traditions. We were there during the Fastnacht and he even offered us the traditional soup after the Morgenstraich! we can only recommand this place and Pete is a great host! It was our first experience with AirBnB and we are now scared to be disappointed with other hosts or places :-) Thank you!
Staying in Basel a second time on this trip, I didn't expect an eye opening experience better than the last time. I was wrong! Staying at Pete's place, right on the Rhein ( yes you read that correct, the apartment is right on the river!!) sets the mood of tranquility the moment you walk into his place. It's extremely well decorated, and Pete has done a great job of making the environment as serene as possible for his guests. His calm and inviting nature added to the great experience I had and would recommend anyone that wants a wonderful Switzerland experience, to stay with him! Pete has great insight into local culture, worldwide travel experiences, and is a fantastic cook! (He made some amazing mussels that I devoured!)... Out of all the Airbnb or rental experiences I've had over the years, Pete's ranks in the top 3 of all time! Thanks Pete for being a fantastic host and looking forward to staying with you again!
Welcome at Basel, Switzerland
I'm a Swiss, retired and enjoy hosting guests at my place.
I will do my best for your assistance on your trip.
I grew up in Basel, so I am a real local guy.
My favorite travel destination is Asia , but I've been visiting, Europe, East Africa and South America too.
Because I traveled a lot I have definitely a global perspective on things and I know what guests need in a new place.
While I was traveling I had the opportunity to stay with friends, relatives and just friendly and hospitable strangers. Now that I'm settled in Basel I finally can give something back and share my accommodation and provide the experience that made my travels unforgettable.
I can't live without world music, books, healthy food, open air activities, like mountain hiking, kayaking and biking.
My life motto: Simplify my life
