My wife and 14-year old son spent two weeks (Dec 21-Jan 04) in the Prenzlauer Berg apartment. This was our FIRST AirBnB experience and what a great apartment to start with! First off, after a three-hour delay at the airport, Corine was so kind and generous as to wait for us at the flat. Merci beaucoup, Corine! The apartment itself was as advertised - spacious (for three), light (the two huge windows opening to courtyard allowed natural light), and cozy (my son enjoyed sleeping on the pullout bed). The location was EXCELLENT. Prenzlauer Berg is a great neighborhood - lots of shops (loved walking around the area around Schonhauser Allee), easy access to groceries (Penny and Lidl) and transportation (S-bahn Ring, M2 tram, and U-bahn a little further). We lucked out since the weather in Berlin was unseasonably warmer this time of the year. We did some cooking in the functional kitchen, though it could have had more kitchen knives. I was warned about the work (and the noise) in the courtyard (for an outside elevator system in two sections of the apartment complex) but since it's the holidays, we were spared by all the commotion. The "second floor" walkup listing is deceiving to the uninitiated in European living because it is three floors in the "American" sense. We had to lug our heavy luggages up those (three) flights of stairs. I wonder why all sides of the apartment complex except the side where our apartment is was not included in the elevator construction. The apartment is on the quiet side, not facing the street. The heat in apartment worked like a charm. The hot water shower was always welcomed after a long day's walk around beautiful Berlin. Overall, we had an incredibly wonderful experience. We highly recommend this apartment to everyone!
We had an awesome week in Berlin. The apartment is in great spot so we could get to most locations really quickly. Flat is in very good condition and in perfect size for a coupple.
We stayed in this apartment for two weeks during late September / early October, 2013.
The apartment is perfectly located at the second floor, in the inner courtyard of a semi-renovated building in the heart of Prenzlauer Berg. The neighborhood is relaxed and offers easy access to public transportation of all sorts.
Upon arrival, we were negatively surprised to find out that the building was undergoing major construction work, a detail which was not at all mentioned by our host.
The entire inner courtyard, towards which this apartment is facing, was full of construction scaffolds... (elevators were being built). Needless to explain that this meant loud construction noise in early morning hours as well as lack of privacy during daytime - since there were workers literally right in front of our windows! Luckily, we spent most of our days outside, so we weren't that bothered by that. However, we felt very unhappy with the situation, especially since we explicitly asked our host, prior to booking, if the apartment was quiet and if there was anything else we should know about which was not written in the original description...
We think it was our hosts' obligation to let us know in advance that there were intensive construction works taking place in the building... instead of unfairly keeping such critical detail 'hidden' until our arrival, and wait to see whether or not we will complain.
Also note that the apartment is in fact significantly smaller than it appears to be in the photos. It's basically a small leaving room with an open kitchen, connected with a tiny corridor leading to a small bedroom (no closet) and bathroom. Despite the size, we found it to be a cosy, practical place to stay in for two weeks.
Lastly, we should also mention that our host Noémie was kind and flexible with the checkout time.
This was my first experience with Airbnb and I must say Noemie and her team made it an enjoyable stay. She was very responsive and accommodating. Her flat was perfect, it had everything we needed to live comfortably for a week. It's also situated in a great spot in Pberg with doorstep access to the Tram to Alexanderplatz and easy walking to the underground, cool shops, cafes, etc. I definitely recommend this place for the price. Enjoy Berlin!
Appart très bien situé et tout à fait conforme à la description et aux photos. Merci a Lionel pour son accueil et ses (website hidden)ès bonne expérience à Berlin .
This place is exactly what you need for a good weekend- -trip. as a group of 4 persons we wanted to find a place with enough space that everyone feels comfortable. Noemis place offered that. also the location was awesome: there are many restaurants and coffee shops in the neighbourhood. the cener of Berlin is a walking distance away (20-25 minutes of walking).
