We arrived on June the 2nd and stayed till the 10th. John from the beginning was very good with communicating! We got there and he showed us our place, gave us some tips (currency, where is safe to walk and when). It was just as described in the ad. The air conditioning was a plus! Very quiet (except for the resort next door with live music till 11, but we actually enjoyed it!) every time we had a problem, John was very attentive. It is very safe (security all night, very nice guys!), yet you really get a feel of living like a local there. We highly recommend! If we come back we will deffinitley stay there again! Thanks again John. Chantal and Terra

This review is NOT for unit #8. We did NOT stay in unit #8. When we arrived, we were bumped to unit #9 (because the guests in unit #8 decided to extend their stay). However, we weren't happy with unit #9. After our one night in unit #9, John (and Maximo, the property manager) arranged for us to move next door to unit #10, instead. Unit #10 was much more to our liking. We found out later that our being shuffled around is not an unusual experience with John's units (I believe he owns 8 of the 12 units at Villas Princessa). So, be prepared. John did a good job of rectifying what could have turned out to be a very frustrating experience. But, conversely, he could have proactively notified us of the bump-age. Several little things added up to us not liking unit #9. The fridge doesn't get cold, the bathroom sink is crooked, the shelving unit attached to the bathroom mirror is broken/missing, the TV is small and old, the back of one of the two patio chairs is broken, the sofa slides around when you sit on it, and unit #9 is one unit closer to the loud music that the resort next-door plays at night. (The music tends to play from around 8pm until around 11pm.) In unit #10, most of these issues were non-existent. : ) The sofa still slides, but the arrangement makes it less noticeable. And you can still hear the music at night, but it is a bit less loud. One different issue we had with unit #10 is that the bathroom ceiling leaks when the shower is run in the unit above. However, it drips into the shower pan, so not a big deal. Maximo, the property manager, is awesome. He helped us arrange taxis to attend wedding-related events, which was invaluable. And Manito, the grounds-worker, is very friendly. Despite not speaking any English, he got us situated in our original unit when Maximo was not there when we arrived. We always felt safe. No safety concerns here. For beach access, the location is fantastic. There is a small non-resort-owned spot where you can rent a chair for the day for 100 pesos. Solid market, pharmacy, and restaurant options are available nearby at the other end of the street. However, most of them cater to tourists, with few "local" options. Bottom line - We would happily stay in unit #10 again. We would not stay in unit #9 again (unless lots of little issues are fixed). We never stayed in unit #8, so we can't judge it.

We really enjoyed our stay at this location. We can't wait to return. Everything worked well and we didn't encounter any problems. It is not a 4 star hotel but for anyone who has rented a lake cabin or beach house in the past and liked it, you will feel right at home. The best part is being so close to the beach. From the door of your apartment to the heart of Bavaro Beach within two minutes of walking. The property is gated and there is around the clock security.

My name is Juan Ramon Batista, or John as my friends call me. I was born in the Dominican Republic, where I currently live, but I am also an Italian citizen.
My whole life I've worked in tourism and the hospitality world, spacing from maitre at restaurants to owner of 12 apartments in Bavaro, Villas Princesa, which I rent here on AirBnB. I also have a degree in law, which I obtained in Santo Domingo.

I am the proud father of 2 children, happily married, and I live in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic. I am passionate about computers, entertainment systems, and I particularly enjoy watching a movie, or a fun TV show, in the evening with my beautiful kids.
