The Space

Teka-Teki House is a Bed n Breakfast. We want our guests to experience the feeling of living amongst the Balinese people, whilst still enjoying some Western comforts. Our family consists of a mixed Balinese-Australian couple, a cat and 2 dogs. The staff (all Balinese) will take good care of you and help you find your way around the local area. We are located 10 minutes walk to the beach, and less than 5 minutes walk to shops, restaurants and clubs.
All rooms have spring beds, 60-channel cable television, a large breakfast, daily maid service, free refill drinking water, free tea and coffee, access to a drinks and snacks bar, access to WiFi, use of local swimming pool with cafe 3 minutes walk), towels (bath and swimming) and a small safe. The Legong Room is fan-cooled, located up a steep flight of stairs and has it's own private veranda. The bathroom, which is located downstairs, is shared with one other room (the Kecak Room).
We can help you organise transport, tours, surfing, cultural experiences, pamperings, shopping and... well, just ask, we might be able to help!

  • The Teka-Teki house is a beautiful space on a quiet street. It's a short walk to the beach past some great shopping. Despite being near all the action, it was so perfectly calm at night, no street sound, just song birds in the morning and beautiful garden to view. The hosts are sweet and helpful, the breakfast is nice too.

I stayed in the Legong Room, an ornately decorated space with a lot of style. It's the only room on the second floor overlooking the frangipani tree tops. I loved having my breakfast served on the balcony peering through the Balinese style carved teak railings. I would recommend this place to anyone who appreciates natural beauty and Balinese architecture.

  • Nice and friendly staff, great location and a clean and lovely place. Unfortunately we were only there for one night and had to leave early in the morning so we didn't have the chance to try the breakfast.

  • Had an amazing time in Bali and w/my new friends from Teka-Tiki. It was a great value and excellent experience. The location was perfect and everyone tried so hard to ensure I was comfortable, protected, informed. Internet worked well and the motorbike was ready and waiting when I arrived. Drinks and breakfast were very reasonable and available. I stayed in the large upstairs room "Legong" which has a private balcony, is perfect for a couple, and enjoys some nice privacy as the only place upstairs. I will definitely stay here again, and I hope soon!

  • Overall, my stay here was nice, but I stayed in the Kecak Room downstairs, not the Legong Room as I hoped since someone else already booked it. The Kecak Room looks like it's picture, the aircon was strong and felt great given the monsoon season humidity battering away at me when I was outside, and the bed was comfy. I liked the digital combo safe for putting my valuables in while I was gone. Breakfast was very tasty, and yeah the banana crepes are quite yummy. Shared bathroom was fine and the hot shower was so so. As is common with developing Pacific countries, you can't put tp or anything else in the toilet when you flush. If that kind of thing bugs you, go to a 4-star resort.

My flight got in really late (twas midnight after the 2 hours of getting thru customs and retrieving my luggage) and the traffic was shocking given it's low season and so late. I opted to use Agung's transport to get me from the airport, and the driver was nice and friendly, but the price was 20k rupiah more expensive than the advertised rate in the confirmation email. If it had been daytime, I would have opted for a taxi-meter to the Queen's Tandoor and walked the 2-3 min to their place (which is through some back alleys).

Didn't meet Agung til my 3rd day, but he was friendly and gave me tips on tours to take and places to see for my onward journey. Before you book anything, I suggest you shop around as Seminyak (or all of Bali for that matter) is littered with tourist touts. As always, listen to your gut and beware of offers that seem too good to be true.

Met the black dog the first night, but never saw her again after that. She was friendly enough and didn't mind me petting her. Scooby did not like to be touched, as he growled at most of the guests if they tried to play with him. He also growls when you approach the property, but doesn't attack or rush you. He wasn't aggressive or threatening, otherwise, so just give him his space. The cat was super cute and meowed a lot while wandering around the place, but never got play with it. You'll hear frogs, birds and geckos at random, but that never bothered me or disturbed my sleep.

The construction going on next door was another matter. Drilling started around 6-7am, with hammers and such. After the first morning, I used ear plugs which helped.

Rest of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. One got me food when the restaurants were already closed from one of the nearby warungs.

As for the area, Seminyak is very crowded and heavily touristed. The beaches are filthy with rubbish everywhere and due to monsoon season, the rivers empty out muddy water to the shores. Bit pricey for my tastes.

    Thanks, Agung!

  • Great stay in Kuta! We were only here for one night, but Agung was awesome! The place was absolutely lovely and we had a great breakfast of yummy banana pancakes. They also let us store our luggage there after checking out, which was awesome. Definitely recommend if you don't mind a shared space.

  • We had such a good time in the Teka-Teki-house, it seemed like a hidden treasure in the busy roads of Seminyak. It is not directly at the main road, really quiet, with a nice little garden. Within 3 min walk you can reach a pool, we've been almost the only guests there and we loved it!
The staff of Teka-Teki is really helpful, Agung gave us some good tips for traveling around. Legong Room is the best choice. It is the only room upstairs, with its own balcony. First my girlfriend was a bit worried about the shared bathroom, but it never was occupied when we wanted to use it.
One thing: there is no mosquito net in the room. I haven't seen many mosquitoes at all, but if you scared about it, bring your own.

  • Simple as this: The Teka Tiki house is an absolute gem in Seminyak.

For anyone looking for an honestly priced accommodation that's tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main strip, this is your spot. It's located about 10 minutes from Seminyak beach and then another 5-10 from there to get over to Legian (good local surfing).

I think our favorite perk was the breakfast in the morning. My GF and I had been travelling around SE Asia for 7 weeks before arriving at the Teka Tiki house and we both agree that the breakfast was the best free offering we had along the way; served in a great garden setting.

If we return to Seminyak, we will definitely book again at Teka Tiki!

  • Jules and Agung's place is a great option in seminyak. They are very organized and the staff is extremely helpful. We had a short stay but we enjoyed the chill atmosphere of their space in the busy seminyak. The beach is a 10 min walk from the guesthouse so as the Main Street with bunch of shops and restaurant.

  • We had a short and sweet stay at Teka Teki house in the Legong room. It was so adorable, it had a cute veranda. Amazing shared bathroom which was open to sunlight with rocks everywhere. Breakfast was lovely, all the staff there are kind and thourogh. Jules and Agnung were so kind as well, offering us great suggestions on where to go. The pool is a bit of a walk but very cool once there. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a homey feel in busy Seminyak.

  • What a wonderful place. Spent 2 great days at Jules and Agung's place. A cozy corner in the bustling suburb of Seminyak. We will be back!

We are a Balinese-Australian family that set up a BnB in Bali (Teka Teki House), which grew into a guesthouse. We no longer live at the house, but are just down the road and one of us is around almost every day. Most of the staff are Balinese and we are all happy to point you in the right direction or help you organise tours or transport or give you some recommendations. The house has staff around 24 hours a day and 2 (friendly) dogs and a bossy cat (none of whom enter guest rooms).
