Mark is a wonderful host. He provides detailed information before your arrival and quickly responded to my request to extend my stay for a few days. Clean and comfortable room in a well kept home, with full access to a kitchen, washer dryer, and family room. . The location in Cayce, within walking distance of the river and Blossom St. bridge, is very convenient and close to USC and downtown Columbia. I would definitely stay here again when I visit my son at USC.
Mark was an awesome host. We arrived later than expected and he was waiting for us when we checked in. The house was clean and the room was as expected. The house was in a very safe neighborhood. We didn't spend a lot of time at the house as we were busy all weekend. We did have a chance to meet the other couple staying at the house for coffee and tea each morning. We all got along great and they even came to our daughter's soccer game...great people. Thanks, again, Mark, I'm sure we'll be back.
I could not have asked for a better Airbnb experience than my stay at "251." Mark was a wonderful host and was always reachable if I needed to ask a question. The room was exactly as advertised, and I slept better than I ever have in a twin bed (it was very comfortable). Mark provided coffee for the mornings and laundry detergent for the washer and dryer, both of which definitely came in handy during my stay. And the house was right across the river from downtown, so I could get anywhere downtown in less than five minutes. I will be recommending 251 to everyone I know that is looking for a place to stay in Columbia for a few days.
Mark was a great host and the lodging was clean and very conveniently located. Mark helped us get acquainted to the city and we had a great stay. Would definitely go back and stay at 251 again.
My experience at “251” was excellent. The place was clean, comfortable, quiet, and affordable. The house and neighborhood was so quiet, the only sound I heard all week was the train whistle. The neighborhood felt very safe. The residents, Jim and Austin, were amiable and helpful and made me feel at ease. The weather was hot that week and the house was always nice and cool. The bed was comfortable and plenty large enough for one.
Mark Bruemmer was extremely well organized with instructions and prompt in his communications. He was even kind enough to answer the phone VERY late at night, when a flight delay and rental car SNAFU and a lost cab driver had me needing help (NOTE: (website hidden) nav will take you right to 251, but the cabbie's GPS had a problem. Mark's instructions are explicit, but if you're tired and relying on a cab driver take note).
I might have preferred a place within easier walking distance of the University (2.3mi to the Morrison Library) but the premium on those accommodations was very high, and I knew I wanted a rental car in any case. The drive into downtown Columbia and/or the University is an easy 10 minutes. And at 251 you have a full kitchen, washer and dryer, etc. in addition to it being quieter than any motel or hotel I've ever stayed in.
I am thoroughly satisfied with my stay at 251 and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to a friend
My stay on Naples Avenue in Cayce, South Carolina, across the river from Columbia, was one of the best two-week stays I've had in the United States. This is a quaint, colonial-style house surrounded by lawn and similar houses tucked away in an extremely quiet, middle-class section of town that's half suburbia, half deep green natural forest. The university is 40 minutes away on foot (I timed it), and a major supermarket is 20 minutes away on foot. From the house you can get to the farthest point of downtown Columbia on bicycle in a mere 25 minutes.
The bedroom was clean, cheery and quite comfortable. The bathroom was clean and cheery as well. Guests are afforded a wonderful, open-concept, fully equipped kitchen and dining room on the first floor -- the individual guest is allotted his own section of the refrigerator. The second bathroom on the first floor comes in handy, as do the washer and dryer.
On the first day the host constantly went out of his way to ensure I was set with all the accomodations for a pleasant stay, going as far as to offer me a ride to his home. He patiently showed me how the appliances and heating/AC worked and the preferred settings. As of the second day, the host, who lives in another city, was available by phone or email if any issues were to arise. The three of us guests living in the house got along just fine, although we hardly saw each other.
I'd be absolutely delighted to stay again at this location. The host, Mark, is one of those persons you wish you had gotten to know a long time ago.
