About this listing

The space

Our lovely house is a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom (1 with tub- upstairs and 1 powder room downstairs ) in the beautiful Telegraph Hill Neighborhood of San Francisco. This beautiful, pet-friendly, 2-story house is very unique and in an excellent location! Built in the late 1800's, it features, living room, dining room, full kitchen, 2 bathrooms, 2 fireplaces, one working (dining room) and one for show (living room). One bedroom is downstairs, with the dining room, powder room bathroom, and kitchen. The other bedroom is upstairs with the living room, and bathroom with tub and shower. There is an office upstairs as well, as this is our primary residence we use the office to store some of our things while guests are visiting. Keep in mind this is a shared space, we live here full time and rent our house when we're out of town. A unique feature of the house is that you enter the house from 1 of 2 entrances, down or upstairs- same keys to both. To connect floors you must use the back staircase (outside the house that connects a small upper deck to the lower patio, or the front entrance staircase also outside the house). This gives you privacy while still being in the same location. The upstairs bedroom features a Temperpedic mattress. The downstairs bedroom is a firm, traditional mattress. Both are Queen sized with nice linens and blankets. The full kitchen features a dish washer. Washer/dryer facilities are at the laundromat 5 doors away. We're near all the secret staircases of San Francisco, including the famous stairs to Coit Tower, which is visible from the front door. Walk to North Beach, The farmer's market at the Ferry Building or take the bus down the hill and connect to all sorts of easily accessible public transportation. This house is on a very quiet and lovely street which dead ends at the Montgomery Street stairs. Enjoy peace and quiet while enjoying amazing views of the city. From the front you can see Coit Tower and the Transamerica building and from the rear patio and upstairs bedroom you get an lovely view of our Ginko Tree and the Bay Bridge! A zen place with no television, but we do offer wireless internet. There is street parking. Come stay at our funky Telegraph Hill playhouse!

The house was perched on a telegraph hill overlooking the city / coit tower and bay bridge. GREAT LOCATION FOR NYE FIREWORKS. Our whole family had a great time exploring from your home and loved its quirky vintage. Recommended for sure.

We arrived in a clean and beautiful house, spacy, clean and very nice decorated. We received the information for the house and interesting info for our stay. The house was nicer than we would have expected.

Wow! The view from Mart and Kila's is simply breathtaking! Being on the top of Telegraph Hill sure has it's perks including being central to everything in the city, and only a short stroll to loads of cafés and restaurants. It's a lovely clean house, our stay was informative and we will definitely be staying again next time we are in town!

Mart and Kila have a lovely house which is well positioned, high up in the San Francisco landscape which allowed for great views of the San Francisco skyline. Location also allowed for easy access to the Wharf, were many a day was spent 'people watching' and eating clam chowder !! (although if you have difficulty with hills or stairs then this maybe a challenge for you). Although the house may not be to everyone's taste, with many ornamonts scattered around, and wiring that still feels like it is the original set up from when the house was first built. Visitors must remember that they are staying in someones home, and therefore these 'quirks' reflect the owners personality, if you want clean lines with modern amenities then book yourself into the latest contemporary hotel !! Only managed to see Mart on one breif occasion, he came across very well and asked if there was anything that we needed (which he asked on more than one occasion). Overall a good stay, which only helped to enhance our excellent visit to San Francisco.

Mart and Kila's place was magical. Totally matched the photos, and more. The more was that I could feel that this was a home. Everything, from the family photos, the beautiful cookbooks, the rows of spices. The beds were great too, and I loved being perched on Telegraph Hill. The floor plan too allows for a lot of privacy between upstairs and down. One note to consider: parking is challenging with a car, though there are plenty of garages nearby. Lovely stay.

The best thing about this property is definitely the location. Nicely situated and walk-able to downtown and the marina. The property has great views of the bay bridge at night. The outdoor space is nice as well. The home is uniquely decorated and the fireplaces were charming and functional. The hosts were helpful and available. Especially for the price point of the rental, there were a few issues: the electric and plumbing were finicky, the washer/dryer were not usable, and two of the four burners on the stove were not working. Both staircases leading to the upper are situated outside. The staircase in the back was a bit unstable, with a landing area that is corroding. We traveled with our 13-month-old, and the stairs were a bit hazardous.
