Our lovely house is a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom (1 with tub- upstairs and 1 powder room downstairs ) in the beautiful Telegraph Hill Neighborhood of San Francisco. This beautiful, pet-friendly, 2-story house is very unique and in an excellent location! Built in the late 1800's, it features, living room, dining room, full kitchen, 2 bathrooms, 2 fireplaces, one working (dining room) and one for show (living room). One bedroom is downstairs, with the dining room, powder room bathroom, and kitchen. The other bedroom is upstairs with the living room, and bathroom with tub and shower. There is an office upstairs as well, as this is our primary residence we use the office to store some of our things while guests are visiting. Keep in mind this is a shared space, we live here full time and rent our house when we're out of town. A unique feature of the house is that you enter the house from 1 of 2 entrances, down or upstairs- same keys to both. To connect floors you must use the back staircase (outside the house that connects a small upper deck to the lower patio, or the front entrance staircase also outside the house). This gives you privacy while still being in the same location. The upstairs bedroom features a Temperpedic mattress. The downstairs bedroom is a firm, traditional mattress. Both are Queen sized with nice linens and blankets. The full kitchen features a dish washer. Washer/dryer facilities are at the laundromat 5 doors away. We're near all the secret staircases of San Francisco, including the famous stairs to Coit Tower, which is visible from the front door. Walk to North Beach, The farmer's market at the Ferry Building or take the bus down the hill and connect to all sorts of easily accessible public transportation. This house is on a very quiet and lovely street which dead ends at the Montgomery Street stairs. Enjoy peace and quiet while enjoying amazing views of the city. From the front you can see Coit Tower and the Transamerica building and from the rear patio and upstairs bedroom you get an lovely view of our Ginko Tree and the Bay Bridge! A zen place with no television, but we do offer wireless internet. There is street parking. Come stay at our funky Telegraph Hill playhouse!
Mart and Kila's place was magical. Totally matched the photos, and more. The more was that I could feel that this was a home. Everything, from the family photos, the beautiful cookbooks, the rows of spices. The beds were great too, and I loved being perched on Telegraph Hill. The floor plan too allows for a lot of privacy between upstairs and down. One note to consider: parking is challenging with a car, though there are plenty of garages nearby. Lovely stay.
The best thing about this property is definitely the location. Nicely situated and walk-able to downtown and the marina. The property has great views of the bay bridge at night. The outdoor space is nice as well. The home is uniquely decorated and the fireplaces were charming and functional. The hosts were helpful and available.
Especially for the price point of the rental, there were a few issues: the electric and plumbing were finicky, the washer/dryer were not usable, and two of the four burners on the stove were not working. Both staircases leading to the upper are situated outside. The staircase in the back was a bit unstable, with a landing area that is corroding. We traveled with our 13-month-old, and the stairs were a bit hazardous.
This delightful historic home is perfectly situated to explore the Embarcadero just down the steps and the shops, bars and eateries on the streets beneath it to the east.
The house itself is light and delightfully breezy with the windows open, and surprisingly quiet and serene for being in such large city.
The only noise in fact was the occasional squawking of the Parrots of Telegraph hill as they would congregate in the large tree at the rear of the property in the morning hours.
Mart and Kila were courteous to leave us restaurant recommendations, and roasted coffee beans.
Taking a dawn walk up the stairs to Coit Tower and its panoramic views is a must!
Fantastic eperience with Mart and Kila. Communication was fast and great. House was prepared on time as agreed. Mart and Kila gave us great tips regarding surroudings and restaurants in the area. The house is well equiped and IDEALLY located: all the San Francisco best spots can be reached by a walk, fantastic restaurants nearby in the Italian district....And if not, you can easily grab public transportation. The house is old but also has lots of charm and character, we loved it. We were delighted by the fact that it is also super calm and quiet, it is amazing to be in almost dowtown, so close to busy Italian district buzz and feel like in a country retreat at night: no noise at all, we slept so well. I will definitely consider the house again in our next trip to SF.
Great location! Just in the middle of all. Perfect for a family. We would recommend.
Great house, great location in north beach, close to restaurants, easy walk to the piers, embarcadero etc. Lots of tips from the hosts of good places to eat and drink. Recommend.
Nice little place right on top of the hill. Great area with everything in walking distance. Mart and Kila's place helped provide a wonderful San Fransisco experience. The hosts gave some great tips on local restaurants and nearby facilities.
Beautiful location. Charming and comfortable house. Simple and friendly booking procedure. Super comfy beds in two private bedrooms. Wonderful views from front and back and from in bed. Very nice to have two bathrooms full bath upstairs with cool wooden shower. We thought the outdoor stairway in back had character but still very private. Loved our stay.

This is a lovely home perched atop the magnificent Telegraph Hill. Wake up to the sound of birds in the trees and a glimpse of the bay and the bridge. Mart and Kila were super easy to communicate with and made arrival / departure a breeze. The age of the house gives it great character, from the fireplaces to the floorboards. I recommend for anyone, or any family, looking for a quiet getaway in San Francisco!
This is the best place we've ever stayed in SF! And we're locals!
Do note however, this is at the very tip top of Telegraph hill - which affords amazing views but will be hard if you aren't used to walking up hills (like my mom, who was visting). I love hills though, and the view is great, and it's SO quiet. The beds are comfortable, the house has amazing decoration - I can't say enough good things about this place.
