Romantic hideaway in hilltop Castle

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Via Cellole, Montespertoli, Tuscany 50025, Italy

The Space

Situated in a strategic position halfway between Florence and Siena and within easy access of all the most important tourist sites, yet immersed in the quiet of the countryside where the birds sing and in the hot summer evenings the fireflies glow. Far from major roads and motorways the only sound you will hear is the odd tractor ploughing the vines.
What better way to spend a relaxing holiday in our mature garden , taking a dip in the large (12X6 m) pool and sunbathing on wooden sun loungers with mattresses, lunching under the shady pergolas or just sipping a glass of wine, or perhaps reading a book under a shady tree.
With both Florence and Siena little over half an hour away by car what could be easier than sightseeing the wonderful art treasures that Tuscany has to offer, returning in the latter part of the day to enjoy a quick dip before dinner in the garden or a foray out to one of the many typical restaurants in the area…..some of which still very good value.
A cosy semi detached cottage on two floors ideal for a couple or up to four people. On the ground floor enter into the airy lounge through one of the two sets of glass doors, there is a settee for 3 with a matching armchair and bookshelves , Sat T.V and CD player. Up two steps in to the fully fitted kitchen with hob, oven, extractor fan, fridge/freezer, washing machine and open fireplace. A square table and four chairs make up the eating area in the kitchen. Upstairs two double bedrooms one with twin beds and en-suite shower , the other with a double queen size bed is next door to the bathroom with wash basin with vanity unit, bidet and w.c.. From all the upstairs windows there are spectacular views over the countryside.Outside is a very shady pergola with wooden garden furniture , the BBQ is shared in the main garden near the pool.
Free Wi-Fi. Fan in bed room. No hidden extras only local tourist tax 50cts per person per day to be paid locally.

  • We spent 9 nights at the romantic castle taking day trips to some of the many beautiful towns in Tuscany, staying home one rainy day. We came back in the late afternoon after a busy day to beautiful scenery in the quiet country "home". We did not have much opportunity to use the pool but walked around a bit around the beautiful property. Adela and her husband provided good suggestions to get the most from our stay with them. We loved their dogs too. Rent a high clearance vehicle because the road to paradise to an "unmade" road, well worth the drive.

    Response from Adela:

Thanks Dave, we enjoyed hosting you and we wish you all the best on your European tour...come back and visit us again someday.

  • We had a great time staying in Adela and Mauro's spacious apartment. It is a beautiful location, far away enough from everything to have a lot of privacy and close enough to towns and locations to make some nice day trips whenever we liked. The apartment was almost a home away from home, with stunning views all around. The pool was a cool getaway from the heat, surrounded by a very well-kept garden.

Adela had some excellent tips for places to go, things to do and local places to eat. She and Mauro are always at the ready for a nice chat about the inside scoop from a local point of view.

I really hope to return again sometime and would sincerely recommend this apartment (and the others as well) to anybody!

  • Beautiful property, very comfortable accommodations. In August we found it hot in the apartment but the pool afforded a luxurious escape from the heat. Bravo Adela and Mauro.

Thanks Peter, regards to you all.

  • Tuscany is beautiful and stay in the mansion St. Andrea Celolle twice!
Property owners Adela and Mauro are very nice and hospitable. Especially appreciate their sensitive approach to the reconstruction of this beautiful historic residence, where are fabulous views over the Tuscan countryside and from where is conveniently close to visit the main sights of Tuscany and wine paradise Chianti... Very impressive for us was also a visit to the modern generously solved wine cellars in small town Bargino. Thank you very much for useful advice for our trips! We hope to come back again!!!

  • Adela's Tuscan villa is truly beautiful! My parents and I stayed there for 4 nights and were very comfortable. Adela and her husband are lovely hosts and very helpful!
It doesn't take long to drive to the villa from Florence, and Adela's written instructions are perfect. The villa is perfectly situated between Siena and San Gimignano so you can do day trips very easily.
Adela and her husband have done such a beautiful job maintaining the authenticity of the villa and looking after the garden, you feel like you're getting the perfect Tuscan experience.

I highly recommend you to visit!

Take care Adela, and I hope to come back to visit again soon :)

  • Adela and Mauro's hilltop villa is the perfect getaway with a stunning backdrop of the tuscan hills and countryside. We arrived unexpectedly late on the first night and were left a letter to greet us and tell us where our home for the week was, with a few bits and bobs in the fridge so we could have a much needed cup of tea on arrival. The accommodation itself was hugely spacious, with a fully working kitchen - everything you would need for home cooking, and plenty of information given in a folder about things to do in the local area, places to eat, and places to visit. We met Adela the next morning and she was the most friendly and helpful host with a mind of information about every possible location we mentioned that we wanted to visit to her. As a result we had some real gems of advice and brilliant day trips, including one particular one through the chianti region visiting the villages and a fantastic vineyard. The home and it's grounds were very well kept with roses and lots of lovely flowers everywhere and our own veranda to sit and enjoy the surroundings in private. Throughout the week we saw Adela on occasion for a catch up but rarely saw the other guests, it was like having the place to ourselves! We spent a couple of the sunnier days in our visit by the pool at the villa and being in such a beautiful surrounding area was absolutely idyllic. In fact it's a little piece of paradise. We wouldn't hesitate to return.

  • Our stay at Adela Reens' beautiful home was definitely a five star experience. The apartment was absolutely perfect, huge bedrooms, excellant beds and kitchen facilities. The swimming pool was welcome after a day of exploring the incredible Tuscany countryside. The two St. Bernards were great hosts, especially 160 lb "Bernie" who was great fun. Adela is a great host, recommending interesting places such as Vinci, the birthplace of Leonardo Da Vinci, and the museum exhibiting replicas of his inventions. The restaurant across the street from the museum was one of the best. In short, we highly recommend it and intend to revisit whenever we can.

My lust for travel found me a job as a travel rep. working for various companies in France, Switzerland and Italy. Tired of travelling and constantly living out of a suitcase I decided to settle in Italy for its good food, wine and above all the weather and when I met my Italian husband and we had the possibility we decided to make Tuscany our home. Later when our son started school I wanted to work again so what better than to set up a rentals business and share our home with others and impart my extensive knowledge of Tuscany with our guests. We enjoy having guests on the property and many have now become good friends and return frequently, its a part of our lives and often we all go out to dinner together or even to events and concerts to make their visit (and yours) special. Welcome.
