Flat on the Aegean Coast of Turkey

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Sokak, Didim, Aydin 09000, Turkey

The Space

The apartment in Club Aegean is situated on the Aegean Coast of Turkey. It has 1 bedroom with a very large, comfortable double bed and it sleeps 2 more guests in the lounge area. There is a fully fitted kitchen, open plan lounge area with 2 large sofas, a coffee table a dining table with 6 dining chairs, TV and DVD player.

Sliding doors open up onto your own big private balcony overlooking the main swimming pool and the whole courtyard of the complex, perfect for chilling on those hot evenings! Comfortable black cushion seat covers can be found in the bedroom wardrobe. The outside dining table also seats 6 guests.

Club Aegean has a gorgeous pool with sun loungers, ideally to soak up those fabulous rays! (Don’t forget your sunblock...) In the local vicinity you’ll find food shops, bars, cafes and restaurants.

Taxis are very cheap and most restaurant offer a free pick up service, i.e. they come and collect you from Club Aegean and bring you back home afterwards.

The Turkish Aegean coast has a very special connection with two figures from ancient Greek mythology : Artemis, the hunter-goddess, and her brother, Apollo, son of Zeus. All the sun-blessed waters are symbolic and pay architectural tributes to their legends.

This quality resort is close to the magnificent Temple of Apollo. The flat is situated a 50 min. drive from Bodrum Airport. One visit to Turkey will not be enough. It will leave you wanting more as you discover one extraordinary place after another. All of these places, no matter how different, have one thing in common : the very friendly and hospitable ‘laid back’ locals and their relaxed attitude towards tourists and you’ll get to know them quickly and they enjoy nothing more than chatting with a glass of Efes Pilsen or a glass of Turkey's famous apple tea.

Didim is shaped as a peninsula surrounding Mugla with a huge inlet of Akbuk town.

Altinkum, with it’s stunning beaches and turquoise blue Aegean Sea, means ''golden sands'' ("altin : gold" + "kum”: sand)

Beach life in Altinkum has also got water sports facilities and a there is a Marina.

Didim also features The Apollo Temple at the ancient Didyma town.

Today''s Didim is rapidly growing as a prime holiday destination completely different to what it used to be 10-15 years ago with it’s ancient towns, culture, amazing climate. In comparison to the big tourist resorts such as Bodrum, it''s still very unspoiled.

On Saturdays, there’s a local market which can be visited by local transport which runs every 5 minutes or it’s a pleasant 20 min stroll.
To explore the natural coves and bays, boat trips are organised in summer on a daily basis from the harbour. There are also tours to Lake Bafa, Akköy village, Didyma, Miletos, Priene, Söke Market, Kusadasi Market, Bodrum, Ephesus - the Virgin Mary''s house (highly recommendable), Pamukkale, Aphrodisias, Dalyan, etc... There are also water sports & diving courses & fishing tours available.
The summer season officially starts at the beginning of May.

  • Unfortunately, our stay was not pleasant. On arrival, we found out there was no water available in the entire flat - we had make international calls before it was sorted out. The gas in the stove lasted to make half a scrambled egg one morning, leaving us with no way to use the stove for the rest of the stay. The electricity regularly went out in the complex. Although the flat is new - the flat needed some serious cleaning, lots of dirt and dust- needed serious hoovering! The bathroom mat was very clearly dirty with brown stains but left out anyway. One of the things we had inquired about and told there would be access to - WiFi/internet in the flat - was never to be found. We again made international calls to find out where the 'dongle' was but there was not one.

Overall, disappointing and I am sorry to say that despite Johan's efforts to sort things out from London - I would not stay here again.

  • We (2 Persons) stayed for 3 weeks in the Aegon Flat and from the first moment ot it was a feeling like "our sweet home". The flat has all things you need and if not, you could ask - really all the time - the owner of the Kayra Bar: Danielle & Burak - thanks for your great service and entertainment! Also thanks for Johan, who really helped us in every kind of situations. It was our first airbnb-experience and we`ll really happy about it, that it started with Johan: helpful, reachable all time and someone who keeps his promises! I think these are some of the arguments, why Johan is so popular :-). We try to come back ... to the Aegon flat!

  • The apartment is spacious and clean with a nice balcony overlooking one of the two pools on the quieter side of the building and has a pleasant level of furnishings.
Air conditioning, cooker, fridge and TV all work well, no internet in the room, poor mobile phone reception. WiFi in the bar area is free but very unreliable.
Transfers to and from the airport to the club are a little flaky but reasonably priced.

  • We stayed at Johan's flat in Didim, Turkey for three-weeks during a work-from-overseas period. The flat is nicely decorated and has all the essentials. The complex where the flat is not centrally located but can be reached by minibuses from the town center. We were there over winter so couldn't use the balcony or the pool but they must be nice add-ons during summer months. Johan is the most responsive host we've ever seen (including ourselves ;)).
