I truly enjoyed my stay at Michael's. The little living room was adorable, as well as the loft bedroom and bathroom. I really appreciated the privacy and freedom his place offer me and my friend. The rooms are small but cozy, comfortable, clean and very colorful. There are friendly reminders around reminding you to turn of unused lights, etc., as well as Michael's own walking tour of the area.
Michael greeted us with a smile, gave us the keys and the tour and was off - we didn't see him again until we left. We felt like we had our own little apartment to ourselves. The location is amazing! It's right near Frenchman's Street (often people enjoy this street more than Bourbon) and just a 10-15 minute walk to the French Quarter. You can't find a better location for the price. Everywhere else that was close was much more expensive (and certainly not as charming).
You can tell right away that Michael has done this for a long time - he trusts his tenants and lets them go about their business. Also, many tenants leave behind beads, maps, books and other souvenirs that Michael has collected and they are offered freely if you want any of them. There is also a little fridge to store drinks or leftovers. The bathroom was my favorite room with a unique layout, tiling, and colorful towels laid out.
Michael was a gracious, easy-going guy and I would not hesitate to recommend his Air BNB to anyone!
Excellent location near a really cool, less tourist-trappy part of New Orleans!
Mike was an excellent host who generally kept to himself, but was available for any problems that might arise. The room would be best described as a loft studio, and it was clean and well kept, with informative signs about the city and neighborhood. We decided to do "Mike's fabulous walking tour" and it turned out to be a pretty great way to get to know the city, especially the French quarter. I will be happy to try to stay with Mike again if I'm lucky enough to return to the city, and I'll probably be sending some friends to him soon enough.
The real gem of this spot, though, is its location. It's right near Frenchmen street, which has all the live music, art, and whiskey a nightlife-loving person could ask for, as well as a good set of nice cafes. I had friends staying at the other side of the French quarter where the mainstream hotels are, and I honestly felt sorry for them since their impression of the city was radically different given the neighborhood. Unless you are one to insist on the highest-society standards for accommodations, which I doubt since you're using airbnb, you will almost certainly be happy with the hospitality of Mike and the excellent scene in his neighborhood. Highly recommended! Thanks again, Mike.
Great spot near French Quarter, and the Marigny itself has so much to offer. The apartment was comfortable and sunny and the perfect place to rest after Mardi Gras fun. While I only saw Michael once during my stay, he was incredibly welcoming and was kind enough to meet me when I got in after 10:00 PM. The off-street parking was a great bonus-I parked Friday and didn't have to move my car again until I left on Monday. Great space for two people, would definitely stay again for future trips.
Michael's place was a wonderful place to stay right in the middle of the French quarter. We loved the easy access to Frenchmen Street, and the lodgings felt safe and secure. The house and bed were great to stay in and we enjoyed the architecture.
Our stay at Michael's was great. The location is superb. Very secure parking. We walked and biked from the location at all hours and felt safe and secure. We slept comfortably and soundly after long days/nights out on the town. Walk just seconds to lively Frenchman street and minutes to the craziness on Burbon. If your looking for a no frills, secure, quiet, comfortable, base for your New Orleans adventure look no further.
This location was perfect for the price during our 4-day stay in New Orleans. Just a 20-minute walk away from the heart of the French Quarter, where we spent the majority of our time, and just around the block from Frenchmen St. The place is very cozy and comfortable, and Michael was a great host, but we generally didn't need to interact too much as we enjoyed having our independence. Definitely enjoyed our stay in New Orleans!
The place was nice, everything you need. And the location was great! Close to Frenchman street. Michael was very good host. He answered all my questions about New Orleans and around.
