Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Tucked away in its own private woodland, our off-grid Shepherd’s Hut offers a peaceful escape surrounded by nature. Fall asleep to the sound of the stream and owls calling, and wake to birdsong and dappled light. With a cosy coal burner, comfy bed and star-filled skies above, it’s the perfect place to unwind after exploring the coast, visiting RSPB Arne or walking the Purbeck hills. Pure Dorset magic. 🌿✨

The space
There’s no Wi-Fi or electricity in the Shepherd’s Hut — it’s your chance to switch off and enjoy time away from devices. Lighting is provided by rechargeable lamps, with charging leads in the top drawer of the toilet/shower unit. Bring a good torch and easy slip-on footwear (flip-flops are ideal). If the weather looks wet, waterproof boots or wellies are a good idea.

Pack as if you’re camping: bring bedding (pillows, duvet and bottom sheet or sleeping bag), towels and wash items. If you’re cycling, travelling by train, or prefer us to provide bedding, we’re happy to do so for a small extra charge.

There’s a shower and loo in the lower level of our house, with its own private access about 100 yards from the hut through a gate.

Please leave the hut as you found it — sweep through, clear out the fire ash, and place rubbish in the labelled bins by the shower room.

We provide your first bucket of coal and kindling free of charge; additional buckets are available for £5 each.

Guest access
The Shepherd’s Hut is nestled in peaceful woodland, with access to lovely woodland walks and to the loo and shower, located in a private area round the back of the farmhouse.

Other things to note
Our family home is around 100 yards from the Shepherd’s Hut, and we make every effort to ensure you enjoy peace and privacy during your stay. You’ll also share the woodland with its natural residents — including owls and other wildlife — as a gentle reminder that the countryside is full of life and not always silent.

If you’re holidaying with friends, you may also be interested in our listing “Purbeck Woodland Apartment,” which sleeps five in the main farmhouse.

For the comfort and safety of all guests, and to protect our woodland and livestock, we kindly operate a no dogs and no smoking policy.
