About this listing
Coming to the Cleveland area? Stay in our perfectly located home in Lakewood. Close to everything! Public transportation right next door. Its a 10 minute walk to downtown Lakewood and lots of great places to eat begin right on next block!
The space is nice and roomy with a king size sleigh bed and a bunk bed, a TV, wireless internet & Roku with Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu and many more. The bedroom is on the 3rd floor of the house and has a nice urban view of the street. You can comfortably sleep a family of 4 here. We have an 9 1/2 year old boy so we are family friendly. Our home is an art gallery on one side and we live on the other; however, we have a ton of paintings on the side we live in also. Its eclectic and unusual but most people love it and want to stay again and again. In addition, I have over 30 years experience cooking in restaurants all over the place and if you want to stay in and have me cook you a special dinner here I love to do that. The price fluctuates according to the menu.
Guests have access to their room, bathroom and kitchen if desired, laundry in basement and garage and carport.
Interaction with Guests
We will be around the house and in the yard but wont interfere with your privacy unless you want to come outside and sit in the back yard; or on the front or back porch or lay in the hammock. Yes, we are here when our guests are here.
This is one of the best neighborhoods in the US. It is a super safe, walk friendly, bike friendly place. There are a ton of bars and restaurants in our little city and grocery shopping and antiquing are right around the corner. The YMCA is 2 blocks down with an indoor pool if you're a member or you can go to the outdoor Lakewood Pools for a daily rate. There are several play parks in the neighborhood as well as entrances to the Metroparks less than a mile from the house. If you are coming to Cleveland you have to experience the Metroparks. Its over 100 miles of bike path that winds through forests and parks all connected that circle the city and continue south down the Erie Canal. 45 minutes from here is Cedar Point and The Islands with wineries and beaches and boating. We also have boating right here down in the Rocky River Marina or at the Edgewater Yacht club. Visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, take in a sporting event at one of the arenas or visit a comedy club downtown and try your luck at the Horseshoe Casino. Tour the Cleveland Art Museum, or the Natural History Museum or take a tour on Lolly the Trolley. You can enjoy a dinner cruise and then take in a show at Playhouse Square. There is a ton of fun things to do here!
You can walk, bike or taxi (Westlake Cab - 5$ anywhere in Lakewood). If you want to take the bus, it stops right outside of the store next to our house. Busses and RTA Transit can take you anywhere you want to go in the city and greater metropolitan area.
Other Things to Note
We have a one dog. Her name is Phoebe. She is a small dog who loves people and loves to dance. She has good manners and is friendly. She will bark when she first meets you but won't after that; and she is groomed and bathed often and I vacuum and shampoo the carpets and furniture frequently so there is no "dog" smell in the house and there's not a lot of hair flying around either as I can't stand it.
I provide Dunkin Donuts and coffee or Bagels and cream cheese and orange juice but if you want you can order eggs benedict or my special recipe biscuits and gravy with eggs or stuffed french toast with mixed berry syrup and sausage links or patties for 30.00 per party (but you can only choose one meal per morning). We are 15 minutes from the Browns Stadium, Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, Science Center, Progressive Field, or just about anywhere downtown. We are 20 minutes from the Cleveland Clinic, the VA hospital and 25 from Case Western Reserve and University Hospital.
No loud music or rough-housing; no drugs and no alcoholics (practicing). Smoking is outside only. Please leave common areas in the same shape they were in when you found them. Only our personal bedrooms and my china cabinet are off limits The rest of the house is yours to share. I love to host people and have had roommates my whole life. A lot of the people who have roomed with me are still my very close friends.
Great place! Loved it and the host Anitra was a pleasure to meet. It was a quick turn around trip for me arriving quite late and leaving early, but Anitra ensured I had no trouble getting in and settled and had hot coffee in the AM.
We felt welcomed and taken care of. Good, quiet neighborhood. Charming, almost 100 year old house with character and lots of paintings. Accommodated our dog. Thank you!
Anitra's accommodations are very much what we expected based on her AirBnB entry - she does an outstanding job of describing what she offers. My son and I loved our visit and had a superb time. Anitra was a perfect hostess, in good communication with us on the day of our arrival. She made certain we were cared for and gave us the space to come and go. Her house is warm, inviting, fun. Wonderful artwork and books are everywhere. The place was cleaned beautifully. I would go back again in a heartbeat.
Great stay. Very family friendly with an awesome location. We will definitely stay with Anitra again.
Anitra greeted us at the door, and gave us a tour of both the inside and outside of her beautiful home. She made sure to show us how everything worked, and was very thoughtful in considering anything we might need during our stay. She is incredibly kind and warm, and visited with us before we went to bed. We loved experiencing Anitra's company, and snuggling with the sweet, well-behaved pets. The neighborhood is safe, quiet, and convenient. From the minute we arrived, we felt completely comfortable and at home. Anitra and her family are respectful, and their company and conversation was relaxed, friendly, and fun. In addition, Anitra generously offered free use of her kitchen, and provided us with a wonderful breakfast in the morning. We plan to return whenever we come through Ohio, and would highly recommend to other families looking for a home away from home.
This was a very nice home at which to stay. The bedroom was very spacious with a comfortable king size bed and two twin beds. It was clean and was perfect for our family of four. The bathroom was one floor down and was also very clean with plenty of towels. Anitra was a great host who wanted to make sure we had everything we needed. The neighborhood was safe and a convenience store was just around the corner. I would recommend staying at this home.
Our third-floor accommodations were spacious, comfortable, and well-stocked with books for children and adults. It was also so quiet, we often forgot there were other occupants to the house! (Hopefully they felt similarly since we had our toddler with us...!) There was a large television with access to Netflix, Prime, and Hulu, and a hard-working window unit as well as a large fan. Despite the fans, it was a little warm but not at all intolerable. The beds were super soft and comfy with fluffy pillows and clean sheets. Bathroom accommodations were clean and supplied with ample towels. We were offered free reign of the fridge, and there was always hot coffee ready in the morning with to-go cups alongside. And the ART! It was everywhere, on every surface imaginable, and it was all surreal and gorgeous. There were two cats and a dog that we saw, all clean, well-mannered, and very sweet.
Anitra was LOVELY. She apologized for being busy and frazzled that weekend, but it didn't bother us since we tend to keep to ourselves. She has a bubbly personality and fascinating background that makes it easy to talk with her, and the conversations we did have were very comfortable and genuinely interesting. She had planned to cook us breakfast on the morning we left but was hung up doing some volunteer work, so she opted to actually BUY us breakfast at an excellent neighborhood diner instead-- a generous gesture that was wholly unexpected and deeply appreciated.
