Coming to the Cleveland area? Stay in our perfectly located home in Lakewood. Close to everything! Public transportation right next door. Its a 10 minute walk to downtown Lakewood and lots of great places to eat begin right on next block!
The space is nice and roomy with a king size sleigh bed and a bunk bed, a TV, wireless internet & Roku with Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu and many more. The bedroom is on the 3rd floor of the house and has a nice urban view of the street. You can comfortably sleep a family of 4 here. We have an 9 1/2 year old boy so we are family friendly. Our home is an art gallery on one side and we live on the other; however, we have a ton of paintings on the side we live in also. Its eclectic and unusual but most people love it and want to stay again and again. In addition, I have over 30 years experience cooking in restaurants all over the place and if you want to stay in and have me cook you a special dinner here I love to do that. The price fluctuates according to the menu.
Guests have access to their room, bathroom and kitchen if desired, laundry in basement and garage and carport.
Interaction with Guests
We will be around the house and in the yard but wont interfere with your privacy unless you want to come outside and sit in the back yard; or on the front or back porch or lay in the hammock. Yes, we are here when our guests are here.
This is one of the best neighborhoods in the US. It is a super safe, walk friendly, bike friendly place. There are a ton of bars and restaurants in our little city and grocery shopping and antiquing are right around the corner. The YMCA is 2 blocks down with an indoor pool if you're a member or you can go to the outdoor Lakewood Pools for a daily rate. There are several play parks in the neighborhood as well as entrances to the Metroparks less than a mile from the house. If you are coming to Cleveland you have to experience the Metroparks. Its over 100 miles of bike path that winds through forests and parks all connected that circle the city and continue south down the Erie Canal. 45 minutes from here is Cedar Point and The Islands with wineries and beaches and boating. We also have boating right here down in the Rocky River Marina or at the Edgewater Yacht club. Visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, take in a sporting event at one of the arenas or visit a comedy club downtown and try your luck at the Horseshoe Casino. Tour the Cleveland Art Museum, or the Natural History Museum or take a tour on Lolly the Trolley. You can enjoy a dinner cruise and then take in a show at Playhouse Square. There is a ton of fun things to do here!
You can walk, bike or taxi (Westlake Cab - 5$ anywhere in Lakewood). If you want to take the bus, it stops right outside of the store next to our house. Busses and RTA Transit can take you anywhere you want to go in the city and greater metropolitan area.
Other Things to Note
We have a one dog. Her name is Phoebe. She is a small dog who loves people and loves to dance. She has good manners and is friendly. She will bark when she first meets you but won't after that; and she is groomed and bathed often and I vacuum and shampoo the carpets and furniture frequently so there is no "dog" smell in the house and there's not a lot of hair flying around either as I can't stand it.
I provide Dunkin Donuts and coffee or Bagels and cream cheese and orange juice but if you want you can order eggs benedict or my special recipe biscuits and gravy with eggs or stuffed french toast with mixed berry syrup and sausage links or patties for 30.00 per party (but you can only choose one meal per morning). We are 15 minutes from the Browns Stadium, Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, Science Center, Progressive Field, or just about anywhere downtown. We are 20 minutes from the Cleveland Clinic, the VA hospital and 25 from Case Western Reserve and University Hospital.
No loud music or rough-housing; no drugs and no alcoholics (practicing). Smoking is outside only. Please leave common areas in the same shape they were in when you found them. Only our personal bedrooms and my china cabinet are off limits The rest of the house is yours to share. I love to host people and have had roommates my whole life. A lot of the people who have roomed with me are still my very close friends.
Anitra is an artist and cook! The room is comfortable and beautiful. All kinds of paintings, comfortable beds, clean and lovely cat, the best America breakfast I‘v ever eaten! The area is very close to the lake, very quiet.
The host was very accommodating on short notice. Very good communication and helpful in securing the place. The room was clean and coffee and yogurt for breakfast on a nice porch was a great way to start my morning. The screen door directly next to the bed was noise through out the night. Other than that a great experience.
My stay was brief, but the house was interesting and Anitra was very accommodating.
The house is located next to a quiet street, and it is easy to park on the side. Anitra is extra nice and friendly. The room is exactly as described, with wifi, amazon TV, and a warm heating system. We enjoyed Anitra's paintings and other work, as well as cups of tasty coffee!
It is a awesome house. It is full of art. The host is very kind. The kid is very cute! So is the cat and dog. I hope to come back in summer time.
A wonderful and comfortable stay with Anitra! She was an amazing host and a very clean house!!
Anitra was a phenomenal host who went above and beyond to make our stay feel like home. Her house was exceptionally clean and we really enjoyed her and her family's company. The beds were super comfortable and enjoyed being surrounded by her beautiful artwork.

Hi my name is Anitra Handley-Boyt and my husband Rodney and I live in this great side by side home. We are both artists, as is my mother and our son, Adam. I have a political science degree from Northern Illinois University and a Law degree from Cleveland Marshall College of Law. I am currently running the gallery and our home. I worked for 30 years in the restaurant business and am a pretty decent cook as well.
