About This Listing
My red brick terraced house has an old world feel to it. Inside it is quiet, although it is very convenient to the city centre. The large bedroom can comfortably accommodate four people. It is near Croke Park Airport buses stop at the end of the road
Spacious family room, quiet street, good location.
Guests will have a private room and will have access to the kitchen cum living room, a kitchenette, and two bathrooms, one with a shower.
I will keep private a bedroom, and the front dining roonm and drawing room
Interaction with Guests
I will be happy to share information on Dublin and Ireland and to interact with guests. I am sometimes away and my daughter, who lives nearby, will meet guests and assist them, when I am not there.
My neighbourhood is an old established one with settled neighbours and a friendly atmosphere. There is a pleasant park nearby, Tolka Park, where it is nice to walk. It is also a fifteen minute walk to the Botanic Gardens. Croke Park is about a twenty five minute walk, in fact people park their cars on our road when there is a match or a concert, and walk there.
An important advantage is that buses to the airport pass at the bottom of the road, and it is a cheap and easy way to get to and from the airport in a half hour. The 41 bus leaves the city centre at 5 am and passes at the end of the road at 5.05, 5.45 and 6.00 am on mornings from Monday to Friday. It is later on Saturday and Sunday.
There are also very frequent buses into the city centre. There are many comfortable pubs and restuarants nearby.
I would recommend a stroll in the Botanic gardens, it is a delight. The second thing I would recommend in Ireland is a visit to the neolithic site of Newgrange.
There is very convenient public transport at the end of the road, with buses passing at 10 minute intervals. There is free parking on the street. If a guest is coming from the airport, they go to to public bus stop in front of the airport and take a number 41 or number 16 bus. Ask to be let off at the Skylon Hotel stop. My street is facing that stop. It is about a 25 minute ride. Be sure to have small change, as the driver is not allowed to give money back. The fare will be about 2.60 euros. It is also possible to buy a single ticket into the city centre at a machine at the bus stop, if you have a credit card, such as visa. It costs 2.90 euros to go to the city centre, and you just ask to be let off at the Skylon hotel. You can also buy a public transport LEAP card at a newsagent in the airport for 5 euros. If you load 10 euros onto it you can then swipe the card when you go in the bus and it is an easy way to get around. Two people can travel on one LEAP card.
It is a non smoking house. Guests may smoke in the garden. I would discuss the possibility of bringing pets if a guest needed that.
The experience of this apartment was relatively easy. The way Dymphna' runs the house, is that different members of airbnb hire each room (3 in total) and you share the communal spaces, which are the kitchen and the toilets. Dymphna was very flexible with arrival and exiting times.
Myself and my friend had a successful time in Dublin and Dymphna made this all the better.
We had an absolutely lovely stay at Dymphna's place! Dymphna was not there to greet us - we met here a couple days later - but her friend Laura settled us in and she made us feel very at home! She even made us cups of tea when we arrived. We arrived at night on Good Friday so most of the restaurants were closed, but Laura not only had a mini-fridge just for us stocked with some things to eat, she also helped us figure out some other options around that were open. There was a box near the front door that had all sorts of maps and brochures for things to do in Dublin, and Laura gave us a few good suggestions as well. The beds were fairly comfortable and the neighborhood quiet, so we were able to sleep well. The only thing we didn't like about the house was the weak water pressure in the sinks and shower and the fact that there was no hot water in the sinks other than in the kitchen - but this was only a very slight inconvenience. It was an old house, so we figured there would be quirks and it was otherwise charming.
As far as location, the neighborhood was quite nice with a few restaurants and a Tesco Express just around the corner. It was very easy to get to the center of the city - there's a bus station at the end of the road - as well as to and from the airport (about 20-30 minutes to city center one way and 20-30 minutes to the airport the other way). Overall, we would definitely stay here again if we were back in Dublin and would highly recommend it!
Merci Dymphna!!!
Dymphna wasn't here to welcome us but she gave us all informations to reach and get into the house. We were welcomed by others guests.
The room is very comfortable, perfect to stay few days in Dublin. You can reach the City Center by bus but we were 4 persons and it was more attractive to take cabs.
