  • We rented Anıl's house as a 10 people group and we had great time there. The apartment is exactly as advertised. It is very cozy, has a really nice view especially for sunset. It is also close to ferries and other public transportation, you can get around Istanbul easily. Plus, Anıl is a great host, he was very helpful about every request we had. If I need a room or a house in Istanbul in the future, I would definitely go for this place again.

  • I stayed at Anil's apartment in late June with a group of friends.

Everything is as you can see in the photos. We especially loved the balcony with the great Bosphorus view: the perfect place to have breakfast in the morning or one last drink before going to sleep at night!

The location of the flat was fantastic: close to the ferry terminal (great connections to Atatürk airport and everything on the European side) and in a really authentic neighbourhood where you won't run into many other tourists let alone find restaurants with menus written in English.

Anil was a great host and really helpful even though he was really busy with final exams during the period we stayed at his place.

Highly recommended if you're a big group and want to experience the real Istanbul in a great location!

  • My husband and I planned on staying with Anil for the first 4 nights of our trip to Turkey, but we canceled after the 2nd night. The room we stayed in was fine, but the apartment -- especially the kitchen and bathrooms -- were filthy. Clean linens were not provided so we couldn't even shower after a long international flight and layover. We never met Anil the whole time we were there and his flatmates didn't know what to do with us -- they had to search the apartment for spare keys to lend us. Honestly, it felt like we were staying in a university dorm. The cost is a good deal for one person, but for two people you can get a nicer hotel for the same price -- and that includes clean towels for a shower! Anil was nice about our cancellation and even offered some compensation, but once we left I never heard back from him despite multiple emails.

There were some pros to the place, mostly the location. It's conveniently close to the ferries, has a bunch of great restaurants nearby, and gives you a much more authentic experience of Istanbul than if you just stay on the European side.

Unfortunately, though, our experience with Anil's place was a huge disappointment overall. I can't recommend it.

  • A bit underrated. This place overlooks the Bosporus, and borders the waterfront park. The Trolley bell dings as it goes by and you are a minute walk from good bakeries with wholesome bread. Each room has a desk and sitting furniture so you can hang out in your own room or pic one of the lounges. You get a set of keys when you arrive and there are a few Istanbul guide books on the coffee table. The Wifi is on, and an electric kettle awaits you. This place can be anything you want it to be.

  • I spend a really great week at Anil's flat! I was there for my first days in Istanbul and I couldn't have found more helpfull and welcoming than his house. Anil is available for any question you may have when you first arrive in such a huge city as Istanbul is.
I can not do anythingelse that recommand you this place!!
And actually the view is really amazing :-).
    Thanks Anil!!

  • Anil is fantastic! He's wonderfully helpful and welcoming. He'll help you make your plans for seeing the city (and be sure to take his advice). The flat is great and really fits the bill for a good place to stay that is slightly away from the touristic European side. It is a short ferry ride to the old city and all the incredible sights there. Highly recommended.

  • Visiting Istanbul for the first time, I stayed with Anil for four days.

Knowledgeable, friendly, cultured with a great enthusiasm for life he is a perfect host to stay with.

The apartment is great pad, in a location that provides a real taste of Istanbul in a cool, secure and upcoming area.

If I ever return to Istanbul I will be sure to look Anil up again.

  • Anil is an awesome host. We voiced a small concern about the heat, and the next morning there was a fan awaiting us outside of our door! The flat is exactly as advertised, and mass transportation to just about anywhere you want to go in the downtown Istanbul area - both asian and european sides - is a short, enjoyable walk away.

On a personal note, Anil is a great guy. Full of common sense and ambitions, we are glad to have had a chance to get to know him.
