This quiet, charming apartment on the ground floor of our cottage is a perfect home away from home for your visit to SF. Located in a safe, vibrant area just a few blocks from some of the best shops and restaurants in the city.

The Space

Nestled behind a classic Edwardian house - enter a gate and stroll up the jasmine-lined path to your own private apartment on the ground floor of our cottage, located in one of San Francisco's most charming neighborhoods.
Noe Valley is teeming with shops, restaurants, and parks. This apartment is completely hidden from the street (no street noise whatsoever) and is located in a peaceful little oasis.
A tastefully furnished in-law apartment on the ground floor, this one-bedroom apartment is a separate unit, entirely for you. It has four rooms: large eat-in kitchen, living room, bedroom (queen-sized bed) and full bathroom, with a shower over the tub. Your private entrance is surrounded by a lovely little garden filled with camelias, ferns, and rosebushes and there is a small redwood deck with table and chairs should you wish to sit outside and enjoy the garden.
The apartment is equipped with everything needed to enjoy your stay away from home: bed linens, towels, cooking utensils, dishes, etc.
Wireless Internet, DVD player, and cable HDTV also provided.
Shared washer/dryer are available should you wish to do laundry while you're here.
Easy street parking and two blocks away from the myriad shops, restaurants, and boutiques of Upper Noe Valley.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: The apartment is 2 blocks away from the "J Church" MUNI train which traverses the entire city, including downtown, Union Square, the Ferry building, etc. There is also the "24" bus line which travels North-South across the entire city. (website hidden), (website hidden)(website hidden), (website hidden), Genentech, and Apple all have corporate busses that run in the neighborhood.
*Our very friendly lab mix, Penny, spends a lot of time in the common yard, but if you are not a dog-lover (or even liker), we can make sure she stays on our deck so as not to bother you! :)

Guest Access

You have access to the shared patio and garden area, as well as to the outdoor washer and dryer units.

Interaction with Guests

Our family of three (myself, my husband, and our 12-year old son) live on the top two floors of the cottage.

The Neighborhood

Noe Valley is beautiful, charming and very safe, with an easy walk (very few hills!) to parks, cafes, restaurants and the shopping district along Church Street, as well as 24th street.

Getting around

Very conveniently located two blocks from the J Church MUNI line. The 24 bus, which travels virtually all over the city, has a stop one block from the house.

  • The house was awesome! Quiet, away from the street, and felt very secure with the locking gate. The house was nice and clean. Everything you could possibly want or need in the kitchen to cook in. Nice wall heaters for chilly nights. Wifi internet, cable tv for when you want to just sit in and chill out. Washer and dryer which is really nice on vacation so you don't have to come home and do laundry. The best part was how nice Samantha and her husband were. They are very friendly and welcoming, and always talked to us when they were outside.

  • Samantha was a great host. She has a comfortable and cozy home in a nice quiet neighborhood that is close to a couple of transportation options. If you have a car parking in the neighborhood is very easy. My husband and I would stay there again.

  • My husband, 15 year old daughter and myself stayed here for the first 4 nights of a 9 day trip to CA for my daughter's spring break. We were very pleased with this accommodation. It was super clean and it is located in the back of a beautiful traditional San Franciscan style house. It was very private and quite. Even with the windows open we did not hear any cars driving by. The shower/tub combo had excellent water pressure w/plenty of hot water and the kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and other kitchen necessities and there were even some condiments stocked as well.

It has 1 bedroom with a full or queen sized bed (not sure which, it's hard for me to judge) and then a pull out sofa in the living room that makes into a full sized bed. My daughter and I slept in the bedroom and the bed was super comfy. My husband slept on the sofa bed and even though he is 6ft tall it was plenty big enough for him. He also slept comfortably.

I am currently 7 months pregnant so we rented a car and drove to all the places we wanted to go while in SF since we just felt it would be easier on me that way but from what I could tell it appears that public transportation runs right in front of the main house so if your goal is to utilize that then it would probably be convenient. Parking is street parking but it was never an issue and we never had to park more than one street away. Just be mindful of the street cleaning signs when you park. Each street has different dates and times when this is done but it's really not a big deal. The area this house is located in only seems to do it twice a month (for example the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month between 6am-8am.) Times and dates for this do seem to vary throughout the city so be mindful of any place you park while driving around SF, not just when you are parked at this accommodation.

The neighborhood felt extremely safe and I would have felt safe staying there even if my husband had not been with me. During the day there were lots of ladies out pushing baby strollers or walking with their kids and at night it was very quite. There is also a full service grocery store not far from the house which came in very handy.

Another feature we really appreciated was the easy self check in process. Our flight out to CA got delayed and we got to SF even later than we had originally anticipated so it was nice to be able to let ourselves in without having to disturb the owner. Even though I never met Samantha in person she was very quick to respond to all my emails which I really appreciated. I would highly recommend this place!

  • I had a very enjoyable stay. I was in San Francisco to visit my son and his family. This location was only 5 blocks from their home, so I was able to walk, saving cab fare. Very convenient!

  • The Apartment was just like I expected based on the pictures. The apartment was clean and for my purposes very will situated as I was in SF to visit my daughter who was just two blocks away. The apartment is two blocks from a great coffee shop (XO Coffee) and the "J" line as well as a handful of other restaurants in Noe valley. It is a healthy walk from the Mission section. When I come back to SF, I will stay here again.

  • This was a great spot! I went with my brother and it worked out well, him on the fold out couch and myself in the main bedroom. For the price, it's a great value. This place had all the comforts of home and Samantha, her family and her parents were SUPER helpful and kind. We liked being near public transportation (the J line) and a really good Italian restaurant ("La Ciccia"). The area also feels really safe and cozy. One small critique is because the apartment is below another unit, you can occasionally hear movement from upstairs, but not in a way that interfered with us sleeping or anything much. Overall, I would DEFINITELY come back to this spot because of the price, location and customer service.
