Interaction with Guests
My husband and I are available if our guests need us for anything. We are serving the breakfast and will happily chat with you if you desire that. If you prefer minimal conversation, thats fine too. We can help you find your way around and help you deal with any problems that come up. We have a spare cell phone if you need one so you can have easy comunication with whoever you need it with. It is common for guests to meet and mingle over breakfast. They are a good source of travel info for one another and conversation is often interesting and even facinating.
You are a stones throw from the waterfront where a wide sidewalk can be observed from your terrace. The entire community enjoys walking and bicycling along this waterfront promenade. Throughout the summer you can hear the kids playing soccer and volleyball into the late hours.
We have a nice little grocery store about 6 minutes walk from our building. There are several if not many very good restaurants and taco stands within easy walking distance. A hospital/clinic is located about 12 minutes walk away; a distance of 6 short blocks.
Once you arrive at our building you will easily get around the city by walking. It is considered quite safe, but it is not recommended that you walk around with a beer in your hand nor is beachwear considered appropriate for walking in the street.
The waterfront bus station is about a 12 minutes walk from us. Just pull your suitcase right up the sidewalk to the right of the station as you are looking out at the beach. A taxi can bring you from there for less than five dollars US.
There are many taxis and buses that can take you around the city and to neighboring towns and to the beaches. There is one nice beach you can walk to comfortably but the best beaches are farther away. The buses and the taxis are very fairly priced; except the taxi to the hotel from the airport, which is just a bit expensive but it is a controlled price so nobody is going to take advantage of you when you by your ticket in the terminal upon arrival. You can easily rent a bike nearby.
Other Things to Note
The best seafood in the world can be enjoyed here in La Paz and it doesn't have to be expensive. There are amazing taco stands where you can enjoy fish, shrimp, mantaray, marlin, octopus, lobster, etc. etc., all in a taco. Our beaches, although out of town, are really beautiful. Don't miss out on snorkeling or kayaking if that is something you enjoy. Scuba diving and fishing are also popular. We also have a beautiful island that you should visit if at all possible. Espiritu Santo Island, accessible by boat is a wonderful day-trip. We send our guests with the best tour company and the best guides. Ask us if you are interested. We highly recommend it and guarantee it will be a highlight of your visit to La Paz.
No pets are allowed. No smoking is allowed in the interior of the suite. Smoking is allowed on the terrace with the doors closed. An ashtray is provided. Please don't play loud music or party in a way that will bother the neighbors. You are on the top floor so don't walk around in hard heeled shoes. It will really both the downstairs neighbors. Check-out time is 11am so the cleaning girl has time to get the place ready for the next guest. Exceptions can be made for a little later check-out in some cases.
I've been married and lived in La Paz for 31 yrs. My husband is a local boy and we operate The Posada Colibri Bed and Breakfast Inn and The Las Gaviotas Resort, both in the old downtown area of La Paz, in Lower Baja, Mexico. Our three children are grown and we have traveled extensively around the world. We frequently visit the US and Canada.
We have always enjoyed myriad outdoor activities and sports in the area and are also avaition buffs. We own and fly a helicopter and motorcycles and are members of several community clubs including, The local pilot's club, a motorcycle club, and The Early Risers community club.
In our businesses we aim to give personal attention to our guests and frequently enjoy conversations with them during breakfast as all of our rooms are rented with "a complete breakfast included". We try to be helpful in answering any questions guests have about the area or in helping them arrange for the activities they wish to enjoy.
