Gretchen and Bill were awesome hosts. They were always helpful, we had good conversations and they gave me a lot of informations about Truckee and Tahoe. Beauregard, their dog, is lovely and friendly.
The room was as expected, clean and there was enough space to store all my ski gear and my skis. Private bathroom, fast WiFi, near to public transport, nice surroundings to explore!
I would always stay with Gretchen and Bill again.
Gretchen and Bill are wonderful hosts! This is the second time I stay with them, and just like the first time, they were super accommodating, warm and welcoming. It's a pleasure to stay with them.
Gretchen was very welcoming, despite the fact I was 6 hrs late!! The house & accommodations were just as described, lovely setting along the river- great for morning walks & close to AMTRAK. Organic coffee- & fresh apples from their tree too:)
She sent me off with a gift of her homemade chutney- just a great visit all in all. I will return.
My boyfriend and I truly enjoyed our stay at Gretchen and Bill's. They are both so kind, genuine and welcoming and made our stay with them a memorable one. Their home is just a short walk to the Amtrak station and their backyard looks into the Truckee River which was great to sit in their backyard and read our books or just enjoy the view of the river. The icing on the cake was getting to hang out with their cute dogs Bo and their grandpuppy Parker. I recommend staying with them and hope we will get the opportunity to stay w/them next time we visit Truckee.
Our hosts, Gretchen and Bill, were just the right balance of being present enough to make us feel welcome and answer questions while respecting our "space" in their home. The location is in the heart of the historic district of Truckee, right on the river, and ideal for walking downtown to restaurants and shops. It was ideal for our needs as grandparents visiting our nearby family.
Gretchen was most welcoming and very hospitable throughout our stay... giving us suggestions on where to hike, offering baggies for our kayak trip to protect items, etc. The provisions for a substantial breakfast an coffee were on hand.
This Airbnb is beautifully located just a short walk from downtown Truckee. On our last morning we had coffee and toast while sitting on the compact deck overlooking the Truckee river. What a lovely way to start the day!
I was comfortable with the bedding but my husband would have liked a bed that allowed both of us to be on the same mattress, also at the same height (there was a small difference in height with the trundle bed raised.)
On the plus side, my husband liked having a flat-screen TV in our room.
Those desiring spaciousness would not be satisfied here. I tend to consider location, breakfast (if offered) and the host. This airbnb was a good fit for this trip, not so much on an anniversary if one is seeking romance and elegance. I would enjoy taking the Amtrak train up and walking to Gretchen's from the nearby station. Her place is perfect for
such an adventure... Thank you again, Gretchen!
Gretchen was a warm & welcoming host! We had a relaxing time at her amazing home - located within walking distance from downtown Truckee! Gretchen was a very thoughtful during our entire stay and always checked in with us to make sure things were going well. Communication with Gretchen was prompt and efficient and even on the drive up to Truckee, she was responsive to all my text messages! I would recommend her home to my friends and I hope to stay there again in the near future.
