The Space

This cave house, hanging on the cliffs of the caldera, is part of a traditional synthesis of houses owned by a family of architects. It used to be the old bakery of Oia and it was recently restored with respect to the unique local architecture creating a remarkable ekistic complex of a unique sculptural quality. The plasticity of the forms, the use of local techniques, the built in beds and the antique furniture together with modern amenities strike the right balance between sophistication and coziness.
The terraces expand on different levels literally on the rim of the caldera. The sensational view of the volcano and the colors of the sky when the sun sets will leave you breathless. The deep blue of the sea landscape and the picturesque
domed houses carved in the volcanic earth create a calm and magic atmosphere filling you with emotions you have never felt before.
Our houses are located just a few steps from the heart of the village of Oia. All traditional tavernas and high quality restaurants, cafes, shops and the world famous Oia sunset are at a walking distance. The complex is very close to the parking area, taxis and public transportation.
Originally renovated for personal use by local craftsmen, the houses combine traditional style with comfort. This house has two private bedrooms one of which was actually the old cistern. There is also a living room with two commodious sofa beds that can easily accommodate two. The built in king size bed (200x 200 cm) in the cistern room, the queen size bed (160 x 200) with high quality latex mattresses and the fully equipped kitchen with an oven, ceramic hot plates, refrigerator, coffee machine, electric kettle, toaster and cutlery will make your stay as enjoyable as possible. For your convenience there is an extra refrigerator in the bedroom.
We will meet upon your arrival in Oia and I will be at your disposal for anything you may need during your stay. I will be glad to share with you info about Santorini and everything that is worth doing here.

  • Great spot in the middle of Oia. Just about 50 steps down from the main road and a skip away from the bus station parking lot. Lots of great restaurants around, if you want a bite. It's close to the main path but quiet, and the lower bedroom is cool and quiet even in the height of summer. Nice deck looking onto the caldera. And so spacious inside, even the bathroom, which also has a great shower. Clean linens and multiple towels, for the bathroom and maybe the beach? The space is much better than I expected...truly.

John and Laskarina are very helpful with whatever you need. Great spot, and I would recommend it to everyone.

  • Our family had a wonderful experience during our stay in Oia. Laskarina and her family were very accommodating and accessible. They give you a cell phone for use to contact them if necessary. Laskarina arranged for a driver to pick us up and drop us at the airport and was sure to arrange to have our bags carried for us, since their are winding stairs to navigate. It was much appreciated. The villa is beautiful in a central location with easy access to the walking path between Oia and Fira. Many restaurants are very close by. The villa was clean and spacious with nice towels--the space worked well for our family of 5. We thoroughly appreciated the complimentary bottle of wine that was left for us. The outside living area was more spacious than we had expected and offered an absolutely amazing view. So relaxing!

  • People travel from around the world to photograph the town of Oia on the island of Santorini, and my family and I felt so fortunate to be able to stay in such a beautiful home built directly into the famous cliffs of Santorini caldera.

We never had the pleasure of meeting Laskarina (except through email), but her husband John was a terrific host. He arranged the airport transfer with a very amiable driver who gave us a mini-tour of the island. We were met promptly by John and his assistant who carried our bags to the house.

The house itself is a work of art. Built into the face of the cliff, it's both architecturally and esthetically pleasing. The view is exactly how the pictures show it. The first settlers on this island used the view to protect them from invaders, and now we get to sip wine while gazing across the endless sea.

The house has two large bedrooms with very comfortable beds, and a large bathroom with a wonderful shower.

The living area is spacious and very comfortable, but you won't be spending much time in there because the outdoor space has an equally comfortable seating area.

The kitchen is small but has everything you could possibly need.

I travelled with my 9 month old daughter, and Laskarina went above and beyond expectations to accommodate her. She provided a crib, toys, bathtub, play (email hidden)c

We travelled mid-May, right before the high season, so Oia was crowded but not as INSANE as it gets during the summer. I definitely recommend traveling in May to avoid the crowds. If you are a beach person then wait until summer because the water is still very cold.

  • Fantastic! Don't delay...book this place!
John and Laskarina were fabulous hosts! When we arrived at Santorini by hydrofoil, Laskarina had organized transport for us and all our luggage to get us to Oia. There we were met by John and another courier who helped us carry all our luggage up the path to the house and then down the steep steps into the apartment.
The place was totally clean and spacious, views ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT!! There was even a huge bowl of fruit and bottle of wine waiting for us - just so thoughtful!. The laundry below was a real bonus too. Laskarina came to change our towels after 2 nights and gave the place a clean.
The apartment is ideally located right where all the restaurants and shops are. There was one particular restaurant we enjoyed called "Floga" which had great food, great views and the maître d' named "Spiros" was incredibly friendly.
I would recommend this place to anyone thinking of staying in Oia!

  • Thank you so much for anything ! And thanks for your friends who help us at the arrival and departure.
We spend a nice christmas holyday in the cave, and Oia was a very cute village off season.
The flat is awesome, the view so amazing, and the living people are charming.
    You know what to do...

  • A *beautiful* Santorini cave house with an absolutely stunning view of the caldera from the two large outdoor sitting areas. The archetypical Santorini location.
    Clean and artistically appointed
    Small but well equipped kitchen
One king size bed is very spacious, the other double bed is a little small for two. the two single beds are fine.
    Oia is a very fine location - lot's of interesting shops and very quaint;
Bakery, little supermarkets and cafes within minutes' walk of apartment.
    Highly recommended.

  • As soon as I came across this listing, I knew it was the place I wanted to stay, and it absolutely did not disappoint. Laskarina was very responsive and she and her husband John were so helpful in getting us settled and answering questions. Laskarina arranged transport to and from the ferry port including help in getting our bags to and from the house. The house itself is really stunning inside and out - just like in the pictures. The view from the patio is like no other and is a perfect spot to sit and relax. It's easy to get up to the main path through Oia - the house is not too far down the hill and is really centrally located. We were able to venture out and explore Oia, but still zip back to the house quickly if needed. Oia is a main destination for tourists from the cruise ships, so be prepared that they often start to appear early and because the house is close to the main walkway, you'll hear and see them on the paths above. That said, the house itself is very quiet and we were never bothered. If you are planning on staying in Oia for a few days, definitely consider this house!

  • Laskarina and her husband John were the best hosts! They made our stay in Santorini a perfect one with their hospitality and help!

Laskarina arranged for transportation from the port and also for someone to carry our luggage to the cave house! She printed sheets if information for us and left them in the house . She has also left us a cell phone to be able to contact her if her husband whenever needed. John arranged for our sailing cruise which was amazing I recommend it to everyone.

Upon our arrival Laskarina had left us an Amazing chilled Santorini white wine in the fridge!

The house was perfect, beautiful and spotless. On the second day of our stay there, Laskarina had sent someone to clean the house and changed the towels!!

I can't say enough good things about our stay in Santorini and my friends , my husband and I owed it all to Laskarina and John :)

    Thank you :))))

  • Four of us had a lovely 3 night stay in the house. The pictures accurately represent the house - it has a stunning view of Oia and is right off the main street (marble walkway) of the town. It is not very private because it is so central to everything but we didn't mid that. The inside of the house was exactly as depicted in the photos. Laskarina was a great hostess and arranged a rental car for us and her husband John was very helpful in getting our luggage from the parking lot to the house. We would recommend a stay here.

  • We are a family of 5 people and we had a wonderful stay at Unique architecture for three days. We stayd at 3 different hotels during our trip at Santorini and Laskarina's property is definitely the best. The view is breathtaking from the cave house. Location is fantastic, just 20 stairs up is the shopping street in Oia. I have to mention how helpfil are the hosts- Laskarina and John. During our stay, there was power off for two days because of a fire at. Laskarina updated the information every a few hours and alreays asked if we need help. We borrowed their gas stove to cook some baby food, which was great. They also arranged a taxi for us before we left.

Will definitely stay again if we come back to Santorina. Good luck with everything Laskarina.
