The Riad Dar Ellima welcomes you in the Kasbah, the oldest district of the MEDINA-XIIè S. near Jemaa El Fna square, with 4 rooms, 2 lounges, a large terrace overlooking the Atlas and the Royal Palace. The room Bougainvillier awaits you.

The space

Well located, in a quiet residential area, close to all the "hectic" life of the medina.
Our staff is of a great availability and appreciated for the kindness of its welcome. Your Bougainvillier Room awaits you.

Guest access

Breakfasts are included in the stay. Each room is equipped with a shower, a washbasin and a toilet.

Interaction with guests

Travelers appreciate being able to chat with the couple who takes care of the house and talk about the Moroccan traditions. Present a part of my time, I always enjoy exchanging with our hosts.

Other things to note

Zineb, the wife of Youssef, will be happy to "concoct" you a typical Moroccan dinner, light and fragrant. Youssef is completely at your disposal during your stay.

A beautiful, genuine and very welcoming home. Communication was excellent, thanks to Youssef we got there easily and without the hassle sometimes connected to finding a small hotel. Breakfast was a feast, the atmosphere on the roof top terrace splendid. The Riad is full of lovely details, and yet very solid and functional. It wa calm, safe and yet only a short walk from the vibrant town center. We can only say thanks and recommend heartily. :-)

Our stay at the Riad dar Ellima was absolutely delightful - as first-time travelers to Morocco, my friend and I wanted to experience a riad but didn't quite know what to expect. The Riad dar Ellima definitely exceeded our expectations. The Chambre Bougainvillier was also my home base for nearly a month while I took an intensive language course in Marrakech, and it was a wonderful oasis of calm in an otherwise busy and intense city. The Riad is located in a safe, quiet residential part of the Kasbah near the Saadian Tombs and about a 15min walk from Jemaa El Fna. It is comfortable, beautifully appointed and bathed in natural sunlight. A delicious Moroccan or continental breakfast can also be had on the terrace and you can order homemade dinners in advance. The room itself is comfortable and opens out onto the courtyard. The hot water in the ensuite bathroom takes a little time to come out but the shower pressure is great. Small details like plush towels, fragrant toiletries and same-day laundry service were especially nice. However, what made our time at the Riad special was the warmth and thoughtfulness with which Catherine and her onsite team of Youssef and his family treated us. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and were generous with suggestions and help. Many riads in Marrakech have a more commercial orientation, but at the Riad dar Ellima, you really feel that you are staying in someone's home - there are not too many rooms and you will have a chance to get to know your host, because they are interested. The whole experience was professional yet friendly and more personal than what we might have found elsewhere. Highly recommend staying here!

Hello Eireen, One thank you for your comment which makes for me "warmly for the heart". I was really very happy of the time which we crossed together, and I was very sad to leave to go to welcome my grandchildren in France. I really liked that we can continue to exchange by telephone and I am also satisfied with your progress in French. I am sure that when you go to return in Switzerland, you will very feel at ease in this new language and speak fluently with Pamela et other people... one more, among the numerous languages you practise ! I really hope to have the pleasure to read you or to hear you. Looking forward to hearing from you, very cordially. Catherine

Lovely Riad, a bit of a walk from the main square, 20 mins if fit, which my wife wasn't and in the heat exhausting. The air con leaked the first night, but super Host Youssef, speaks french but no English fixed quickly. Nice clean room and shower, meals available from Youssef's wife, very nice, quite Riad in a quite location. Right next to a small Mosque. Balcony great but stairs and door to open to get up there heavy and not easy for everyone to access if it hadn't been opened.

Riad Dar Ellima is cozy and relaxing. The area around is quite and a little out of touristic places, so you can enjoy a really Maroccan mood. Anyway, the Medina in quite small so you can reach the main places and attractions in 15-20 mins. Catherine, Youssef and his family are very kind and helpful people. I would suggest this beautiful place and experience!

Thank you Michela for your comment. I hope that you returned well and that you were able "to settle" a little before your activities this week. I take good note of your remark concerning the possibility of leaving the key. I go to see how to do, without breaking rules fixed for hosts' house. Very cordially.

Catherine arranged a taxi from the airport which was much appreciated. My son and I were warmly welcomed by Youssef, shown around the beautiful riad and given a delicious supper. The riad (house) is quiet, clean and peaceful. Breakfast was very tasty, different each day as was supper. We had mint tea brought up to us on the balcony where there is a fantastic view, along with loungers, tables and chairs. The kasbah area is 10 minute walk away. Catherine and Youssef were most charming and a delight to know and made our stay very happy. Definitely recomend it!

Catherine was very informative and remained in contact with us throughout our stay answering any questions we had. Youssef and his family were incredibly helpful whilst we were there, cooking very tasty dinners at our convenience. The Riad Dar Ellima was a perfect distance to explore the medina and the various souks by foot. Our stay overall was comfortable and enjoyable and we would thoroughly recommend it to any couple looking to stay in Marrakech for a reasonable price. Thank you very much Catherine and Youssef for a brilliant 6 days.
