House - Private room · Barkly St, St Kilda, VIC 3182, Australia

A spacious room with an ornate pressed metal ceiling they you'll never get tired of looking at as you lay in the comfortable queen size bed!
It easily accommodates two and is centrally located - 1 block from vibrant Acland St and 2 from the beach.

The Space

Welcome to St Kilda!

Welcome to my house which is a federation home oozing 'old St Kilda' and is in a fantastic location. It's only a 5 minute walk from Acland St and 8 minutes from the beach.

The bedroom is incredibly spacious and has a very comfortable queen size bed. It has a beautiful metal pressed ceiling and original wood-fire heater.

Two shared bathrooms - great water pressure in the shower and a bathtub to relax in.

There's a big lounge room with a piano if you fancy tinkling the ivories plus a guitar to strum as well! We don't have cable TV but you are welcome to watch as much free-to-air in the loungeroom as you want.

There is also a lovely back garden with chairs and a table to relax at a cat and dog to keep you company. Sitting in this garden is so peaceful it's hard to believe you're in the middle of St Kilda!

Guests are able to use the kitchen if a prior arrangement is made. There's space in the refrigerator and coffee, tea and milk is provided.
I don't do breakfast but you can easily find cafes less than 150 meters away. In fact, there's a fantastic bakery straight across the road with nice coffee and beautiful bread.
You're more than welcome to buy your own breakfast goodies as you'll have access to the fridge, toaster, kettle and microwave.

Public transport is very close with a bus stop literally outside the front gate (2 doors away) and a shuttle to the airport. A tram stop is only a 3 minute walk. Luna Park, St. Kilda Pier, and The Esplanade Hotel and Fitzroy St are easily within walking distance.

About St Kilda

St Kilda is located right on the the beach about 5kms from Melbourne and has wonderful cake shops, cafes and restaurants. It really is a hub of activity. Every Thursday evening during summer is the St Kilda Night Market in the O'Donnell Gardens right next to Luna Park with great stalls, music and food.

You'll love Melbourne. I hope to hear from you!

Check in time is listed as 3pm but please check with me first. I can be flexible about an earlier check in time if I'm not working.

Guest Access

Guests may use the kitchen to cook if the request is made during the booking process. This is so I can coordinate a kitchen schedule if other guests are staying as well. Guests using the kitchen are expected to clean up after themselves, wipe down the stove and also take their rubbish out.
Guests are more than welcome to use the living room, dining room and back garden.

Interaction with Guests

This is my home so I'll be present during the guest's stay. I am here at check in to greet the guests and show them around and then I leave the guests to their own devices. I'm not always around at check out but I leave instructions for what guests need to do. You are guaranteed privacy and the amount of interaction we have is always up to the guest.

The Neighborhood

I love the vibrancy of St Kilda and the fact that everything - cafes, supermarkets, amusement park and beach are just a five minute walk from my house. Guests will love the scenic beach walks and the gorgeous breeze.
The cake shops are Acland St are a sight to behold and just walking around St Kilda is entertaining. I'm happy to recommend the places in St Kilda where the 'locals' eat! For example ...
There's an amazing bakery straight across the road with fantastic sourdough bread and great coffee so a yummy breaky is only 10 metres away!

Getting around

Tram stops are just a five minute walk and a twenty five minute ride to the city center. There's also a bus stop next door to my house if you need to go north of the city or to a major train station.
There is free parking available outside my house but there are restrictions in the morning until 9am as it's a clearway. I always give guests advice about parking and if the car isn't too big then parking is always available in front of my garage.
Guests can easily get to my place from the airport by getting the Skybus from the airport to Southern Cross station and then the tram to St Kilda. It's a five minute walk from the tram stop to my house. There is more information available once a booking is made.

Other Things to Note

I have a very friendly Labrador dog named Atticus who likes to welcome guests and expects a pat every now and then! He is very gentle but I wouldn't recommend staying if you don't like dogs.

  • We have a great stay with Teena! She is a warm heart person who give us detail information for travelling in MEL. We feel like we stay at home. If we have chance to go back MEL, we will enjoy our time with Teena together without exception.

  • My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay at Teena’s charming and unique house. Our room was spacious, the bed was comfortable and the whole house is full of treasures and lovely little details. You can feel how much love and attention to detail has been put into the house. Atticus is an adorable and extremely friendly doggy. Teena was a perfect host: warm and welcoming. The location of the house is awesome, just a few minutes walk to restaurants, cafes, the beach and tram stations. There is an amazing bakery across the street where we had breakfast every day – delicious. (You have to try their scones!)
All told: it’s a great place and I highly recommend it.

  • We had a wonderful stay with Teena in her amazing house in St. Kilda! The rooms were clean and quirky, and the bed was super comfortable. Teena was a kind host, and her sweet dog and cat made our visit extra fun! The house itself is located in a very convenient location, near tour and airport shuttle pickup points. We would definitely consider staying here again during our next trip in Melbourne.

  • We had such a great stay with Teena in St, Kilda. We were down for the Grand Prix and this location was absolutely perfect! Teena had some great advice for places to go out to eat which were all fantastic and there's the house and room ... they are just amazing! Coming from Sydney to this was a real treat!
Teena is WONDERFUL as a host, really kind, friendly and accommodating! Nothing was a problem and it really helped us feel relaxed in her lovely home - Thank you so much Teena.
I can't not mention her pets though especially Atticus who is a superb dog! Everyone should have a doglike Atticus.
It really was great the whole experience and we look forward to coming back next year!

  • I was met with a friendly warm welcome from Teena, and equally friendly Atticus - who made me feel at home straight away. I am quite new to airbnb but Teena was really organized and quickly gave me a tour of her home and a great guideline of where everything was and how it all worked.

The room is huge and steeped in History with a lovely feel to it, the bed is super comfy and I had the best nights sleep in a long time.

Location could not be better, walking distance to the cafe's, beach and trams if you did want to venture (website hidden) Kilda is lively and offers plenty to do, however if you do want to stay in more supermarkets are close at hand.

The airport bus was fantastic less than a 5 minute walk and $20 to the airport.

Many thanks Teena, Atticus and Shadow for a really lovely stay.

  • Teena's place is very well located - just a few blocks from St. Kilda beach as well as shops and cafés. Our room was super comfy and Teena was an amazing host!

  • Teena and dog Atticus both very welcoming, good size room and very comfortable bed, easy walk to St Kilda shops and beach. Some noise from road and nearby Backpacker's noticeable at night but Teena thoughtfully provides ear plugs so our sleep wasn't affected.

  • We really enjoyed staying at Teena's beautiful home. Teena is a very thoughtful host providing her guests with a super cozy and perfectly equiped room and lots of useful information about Melbourne. She was very welcoming and open to have a long and interesting chat with us and in the same time was respectful regarding the privacy of her guests. Communication between us went really well. Moreover, St. Kildas with it's transport connection is a good point of departure to start discovering Melbourne.
