About this listing
Nestled just a 10 minute walk from the beach in the trendy Ocean Park neighborhood of Santa Monica, this bungalow is the perfect house for a Westside stay. As one of the original beach houses it makes for a charming house for a westside visit.
Charming Craftsman Beach House on Santa Monica Walk Street
This charming, 2-bedroom beach bungalow is just 7 blocks to the beach and is situated in the laid-back Ocean Park area of Santa Monica, just north of its more rambunctious neighbor Venice. Located on a quiet walk street, the cottage is walking distance to the Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach, and the many small restaurants and bistros that dot the area.
The house is one of the original beach bungalows built at the beginning of last century and features hard-wood floors, hand-made custom windows, and built-ins.
The full kitchen comes with the usual amenities, an antique stove and full refrigerator - everything you’d need in a kitchen. Whatever else you can borrow from us next door.
The Master bedroom comes with a comfy Queen bed and a large walk-in closet. The second bedroom also has a queen bed. Mmmm ... sleep. We have a small child, so it's likely we have anything you might need for a little person we have, including a crib and high chair. We've also created a faux-grass outdoor play area for our little guy that is perfect for little hands and feet.
A comfortable living room comes equipped with FiOS high speed Internet and WiFi, premium cable TV, games, and Sony PlayStation. There’s an appointed dining room for meals if you choose to eat inside. There’s brand new, on-site laundry for washing the sand out of your trousers.
Outside the gas grill loves steak and seafood, and the picnic table seats a small army.
There's a front loading washing machine and dryer just outside the house (attached to the rear house) that will handle the largest bag of dirty laundry.
There’s everything you’d need for a trip to the sand – chairs, umbrellas, and beach towels. Park the car for free on 7th street and stroll to the beach - it's only a 10 minute walk.
Et pour vous gens qui parlez francais, Christo pourrait vous comprendre, (si vous ne parliez pas trop rapide).
We’re 15 minutes from the airport, and located close to the 10 and 405 freeways.

Please, no smoking in the house (you can smoke outside if you choose.)
Please note there is an additional charge for more than 3 people. Little ones are people, too. We have one ourselves. The house can accommodate as many as five folks (assuming someone feels comfortable sleeping on an air mattress in the living room.)
We have a small outdoor play area for our child filled with kid things - a small playhouse, balls, and trucks. Hudson likes to share.
We ask for a minimum of a 2 night stay and we welcome long-term visitors of more than 30 days. We keep our calendar up-to-date - so if it's available to book, the place is available.
Please note: we no longer review guests due to the large number of guests we've had and the varying amount of familiarity we've had with those guests (we travel quite a bit).
Erin and I stay rather removed from our guest, other than to say "Hi!" We used to live in this house, but have since moved to Long Beach, a short trek down the pike. We're close enough to handle any situation, of course, and my office is nearby.
We look forward to having you all in our beach house!
Check in is 4 pm. Check out is 11am. We're flexible on the check-in times, when we can be. Let us know if you're arriving at a strange time, and we'll try and accommodate.
No smoking in the house, please.
If you have small children, please have them play inside the house until 8am. We try to be considerate to our late-sleeping neighbors.
The internet comes from an Airport Express plugged into a socket in the 2nd Bedroom - please keep it plugged in (so you can stay wired.)
The laundry is just out side the house and features two brand new, front-lading sliver-colored LGs! Yippee!
Feel free to help yourself with whatever's left over in the kitchen.
Check out is 11 am. Please leave the keys on the table when you leave. If you're planning on checking out earlier, give us a shout and we'll start the cleaning early.
Enjoy your stay!
Christo was awesome! He even brought a new grill for us! The frontyard looks bigger in the picture, but everything was pretty fine. Nice location, 7 blocks from the ocean and a street away from the supermarket.
Lives up to it's description. Loved it there, felt like an instant home. Our four year old loved it as much as we did. Convenient to so much. Very clean rooms and linens. Nicely maintained garden. Bathroom refitted recently and a real boon - also on that note, the water pressure and temperature in the bath/shower was amazing! Great washing machine and dryer. No significant noise from the main thoroughfare a block away as the cottage is well isolated on a pedestrian walk, behind shrubbery and a tall fence. The owners left some helpful welcome information, a beautiful bunch of flowers from the local farmers market and a (genuinely) nice bottle of wine. The lovely housekeeper and one of the owners were there upon our arrival to welcome us. We would stay there again in a heartbeat!
Beautiful little relic, with overtones of happy family life; lots of kids toys, very nice indoor and outdoor cooking/eating arrangements, interesting and beautiful artwork, all in a vibrant community- lots of interesting shops, restaurants, beaches, as well all basic necessities all very close.
We stayed in this beautiful little cottage with my parents and our four month old. It was exactly as pictured, and was on an adorable little pedestrian walkway that added to its charm. We took several walks to the beach and around downtown Santa Monica and found the house to be perfectly located for drives around town. We had no problem finding street parking ever.
The house itself had two very comfortable beds, the living room was perfect for hanging out in, and the kitchen was well stocked.
Thanks so much for a wonderful stay!
The house was just as promised: really nice, clean and cozy.
There was a wine bottle waiting for us when we arrived and the neighbourhood was really tranquil. There is one highway almost next to the house, but we couldn't hear a thing from there (2 blocks of houses blocking the noise), even there is descent amount of traffic on that road, so sleeping there was excellent.
Location is in 20-30 mins from downtown, 10 mins from Santa Monica and 10 mins from Venice, so all the nice things at LA area are close!
It was relatively easy to find parking spot from the road nearby, even tho there are no dedicated parking spot for this house.
I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to enjoy their time at LA!
We were greeted by Christo's housekeeper, Francesca, who was very friendly and walked us through the house. Christo left us some wine and fresh flowers which was great. The house was as described a short walk to the beach which was perfect. The large teak table in the front was great for dining with friends and family. The convenience of the grocery store across the street was fabulous. Though we found the neighbors to be very close and loud at night. The walls and windows are thin. Bring some earplugs and you should be fine.
Everything was really great, we felt very welcomed and cared. the house is super nice, the surroundings are beautiful. Everything is clean and convenient. Thank you Christo!

About the Host, Christo
We're a happy little family - Erin, Hudson, and me. We used to live in the bungalow, then the cottage, but don't anymore. Erin's a middle school teacher, I'm a documentary filmmaker, and ... Hudson's a kid.
