Nestled just a 10 minute walk from the beach in the trendy Ocean Park neighborhood of Santa Monica, this bungalow is the perfect house for a Westside stay. As one of the original beach houses it makes for a charming house for a westside visit.
Charming Craftsman Beach House on Santa Monica Walk Street
This charming, 2-bedroom beach bungalow is just 7 blocks to the beach and is situated in the laid-back Ocean Park area of Santa Monica, just north of its more rambunctious neighbor Venice. Located on a quiet walk street, the cottage is walking distance to the Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach, and the many small restaurants and bistros that dot the area.
The house is one of the original beach bungalows built at the beginning of last century and features hard-wood floors, hand-made custom windows, and built-ins.
The full kitchen comes with the usual amenities, an antique stove and full refrigerator - everything you’d need in a kitchen. Whatever else you can borrow from us next door.
The Master bedroom comes with a comfy Queen bed and a large walk-in closet. The second bedroom also has a queen bed. Mmmm ... sleep. We have a small child, so it's likely we have anything you might need for a little person we have, including a crib and high chair. We've also created a faux-grass outdoor play area for our little guy that is perfect for little hands and feet.
A comfortable living room comes equipped with FiOS high speed Internet and WiFi, premium cable TV, games, and Sony PlayStation. There’s an appointed dining room for meals if you choose to eat inside. There’s brand new, on-site laundry for washing the sand out of your trousers.
Outside the gas grill loves steak and seafood, and the picnic table seats a small army.
There's a front loading washing machine and dryer just outside the house (attached to the rear house) that will handle the largest bag of dirty laundry.
There’s everything you’d need for a trip to the sand – chairs, umbrellas, and beach towels. Park the car for free on 7th street and stroll to the beach - it's only a 10 minute walk.
Et pour vous gens qui parlez francais, Christo pourrait vous comprendre, (si vous ne parliez pas trop rapide).
We’re 15 minutes from the airport, and located close to the 10 and 405 freeways.

Please, no smoking in the house (you can smoke outside if you choose.)
Please note there is an additional charge for more than 3 people. Little ones are people, too. We have one ourselves. The house can accommodate as many as five folks (assuming someone feels comfortable sleeping on an air mattress in the living room.)
We have a small outdoor play area for our child filled with kid things - a small playhouse, balls, and trucks. Hudson likes to share.
We ask for a minimum of a 2 night stay and we welcome long-term visitors of less than 30 days. We keep our calendar up-to-date - so if it's available to book, the place is available.
Please note: we no longer review guests due to the large number of guests we've had and the varying amount of familiarity we've had with those guests (we travel quite a bit).
Erin and I stay rather removed from our guest, other than to say "Hi!" We used to live in this house, but have since moved to Long Beach, a short trek down the pike. We're close enough to handle any situation, of course, and my office is nearby.
We look forward to having you all in our beach house!

Fabulous location, walked 5 min to the Santa Monica farmers market on Sunday and then the gourmet food trucks in same location on Tuesday nights. The bungalow was a perfect size for the 3 of us, had everything we needed. Quiet and sunny. Never met or spoke to Christo, but everything was explained in e-mails and we never had a problem. Fantastic week in Southern California - a break from the COLD and SNOW in New England.
Christo was very responsive. We had a problem with the lockbox and keys when we arrived. We called Christo and he immediately answered, tried to troubleshoot over the phone. When that didn't work out he promptly showed up at the property, got us in & settled and showed us around.
The bungalow is great! Good kitchen, great stove, sharp knives, decent pots and pans. Shower has great water pressure and plenty of hot water. Beds are good. Master bed has nice linens and a down comforter. The sofa in the living room was comfy and the TV had plenty of channels and there is a good library of DVDs. A supermarket is a block or 2 away. A bus stop #3 to/from downtown SM is on the corner. We will stay here again for sure if it's available next time we come for school!
The only issue we ran into was giving directions to Supershuttle for drop off/pick up to LAX. The bungalow is on a pedestrian walkway and accessed by very narrow streets. (Which gives it so much charm and character!). I had to do a little research and find a business address on Lincoln Ave, the main street near the house, as a pick up spot.
Good location. Clean. Everything we needed. Parking is a bit tricky at times. We felt safe and secure.
Wonderful hosts who went above and beyond the call of duty to make things great. The location is ideal with everything from indy grocery store (Bob's!) and yoga within quick walk/bike ride. We were there for the American Film Market and it's a nice 30 min beach walk from downtown Santa Monica and the Lowes hotel.
The house is modest with one nice bedroom and one more simple and darker one. The couch doesn't fold out but is perfectly sleepable. Great kitchen with just about everything you'd want to make a foodie feel at home.
This was a lovely bungalow. Ideally located just a short walk from both Santa Monica and Venice Beaches. There is also a supermarket two minutes away for all necessities.
Christo and Erin could not be more helpful. They provided us with plugs so we could charge phones. Called taxis for us to get about snd were genuinely happy to answer any questions we had.
The bungalow was clean and well kept and both bedrooms were extremely comfortable with plenty of storage.
We had a great time and would definitely recommend to friends and family. We have started saving so we can go back.
This place is just as charming as it looks in the photos. Christo and Erin are great hosts - we really appreciated the flowers and wine awaiting us on arrival. This is a super family friendly property - the property is safe and secure and the back yard has lots of toys - our kids had fun playing with Hudson.
The lane outside is so sweet with lots of picturesque properties running alongside. The walk to the beach was a bit longer than we expected - a decent 15 minute walk with our two little ones. We continued on to the Santa Monica Pier and it was a haul to get the kids home - about a 30 minute walk. Too tempting to just stay at home in this lovely cottage!
Great stay in a fantastic place. A perfect size for our family, with the outside space / table a bonus. The hosts were very accommodating and the house was very tidy and well appointed. The location is great - barely a 10 minute walk from the beach and a great little walking street with quiet surrounds. Would stay again in a heartbeat!
We recently stayed in the bungalow for 5 nights. It has everything you require from cooking utensil to extra blankets. We used the fantastic BBQ area most nights. The house was really clean. It is down an alleyway and was peaceful and secure. Christo, Erin and Hudson made us feel very welcome, especially with the bottle of red wine waiting for us on arrival. We would definitely stay again.
