Floor to ceiling windows look out to beautiful, large tiled patio and gardens.
Pooches welcome with prior approval at $29. per stay, per pooch.
Floor to ceiling windows look out to beautiful large tiled patio and gardens. Brand new window coverings assure your privacy.
Our repeat guests love the studio and have affirmed our commitment to providing you with a wonderfully relaxing stay with us.
Please be aware that the second bed (for a third person staying in the studio), is new memory-foam folding bed, which is super comfy. It should be ordered ahead of time, at the same time when you make your reservation. (Note: If you are 6'6" and 220lbs. we would not recommend the twin bed for you - we can provide a new twin airbed if requested ahead of time.)
The Calendar is updated daily - feel free book instantly - the studio is always ready for guests.
Pooches welcome with prior approval! ( $29. pet fee per dog, per visit - not per night!) Completely fenced-in yard, within walking distance to a lovely nature preserve. Cats are NOT permitted!
If you like peace and privacy, this is the place for you. Come and go as you please at any hour of the day or night without the fear of disturbing us, as you have your own entrance and do not go through the main house at all. Enjoy this fabulous super sunny master bedroom studio, with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out on huge fenced tiled patio with fruit trees and gardens. I am most welcoming, yet unobtrusive, so that you will find this to be a comfortable oasis. Of course, I am reachable for any questions, advice, requests or needs.
You will enter through a side gate, walk down the adobe paved path, lit with motion-sensor spots, through the heirloom roses, which are highly scented when in bloom. No need to go through the main house, as the studio is completely separate from the rest of the main house, (although attached by one common wall.)
Super-private and very quiet, except for the birds, yet centrally located; five minutes to downtown Monterey, Laguna Seca Raceway or CSUMB and ten minutes to Monterey Bay Aquarium. There is a 24-hour Safeway and Walgreen's just 2 minutes away, in case you have any midnight cravings! Trader Joe's and Whole Foods are 10 minutes away.
We are located in a wonderful little sun belt, perched high upon a hilltop with a nice view of Monterey Bay in a very quiet residential neighborhood, so typically we are above any fog – especially during the summer season when the rest of the Monterey Peninsula could be socked-in! We are at the top of a street which ends in a cul-de-sac so there is not a lot of through traffic and super-easy street parking right in front of the house.
Freshly painted in a soothing palette and tastefully furnished, the studio is comprised of large sunny master bedroom with hardwood floors and your own private updated Travertine marble bathroom (shower - no tub) supplied with towels, hairdryer and high-quality toiletries. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer a view of patio, creating a sunny and bright ambiance. A dimmer switch for the overhead chandelier, a writing table, comfortable upholstered lounge chair and a small flatscreen TV with remote control plus wi-fi make your stay complete. The detailed FAQ binder has been very helpful to our guests and includes restaurant menus and helpful suggestions.
The studio is heated through vents by a gas forced-air furnace, (controlled by the thermostat located in the main house) and if you need extra heat, there are more blankets plus a space heater for your complete comfort. It rarely gets that cold here, but if we do get a cold snap in Jan or Feb I want you to be totally comfortable! A fan is there for those hot days we get once in a while!
Sleep peacefully in the Queen-sized bed outfitted with 100% cotton linens (line dried when possible) and cozy blankets, then enjoy breakfast outside on the patio when weather permits. Our guests have raved about the bed! For an extra guest, there is a brand new single folding memory foam mattress bed. We use scent-free laundry products.
The kitchenette/breakfast bar includes a new microwave, toaster oven and coffee maker (filters provided - byo coffee.) The under-the-counter fridge has a separate freezer compartment with ice trays big enough for some frozen foods or ice cream. (Note: this is not a full kitchen, so please don't plan any major cooking in the room.) Set up for reheating, take out, etc. We just switched to compostable cups, plates, silverware, etc. There are real wine glasses and mugs, however!
Access is through the large fenced-in beautiful, sunny patio in the backyard, filled with organic raised bed vegetable gardens which change seasonally, fruit trees and roses. This is a great location, centrally located between Highway One and Highway 68, near the rec trail, Frog Pond, beaches and terrific hills for a morning or evening stroll. No smoking inside – okay on patio. Dogs allowed with extra charge of $29. per pet per stay (not per night.) Please advise in advance of any dogs when you are making your booking - i will then send you an alteration to add the pet fee.
A sophisticated foodie and twenty-five year resident of the Monterey Peninsula, I am a great resource of information if needed. Also, the studio is also stocked with lots of books on the area and a binder with menus from my favorite restaurants, brochures and information on local attractions, plus various local offers are stashed in the desk drawer. There is a great brand new fully equipped gym 2 minutes away for those who want to get their workout in. All visits come with a free pass to one of our local wine tasting rooms! Organic vegetable gardening classes are available as well as private custom designed tours of the Monterey Peninsula, depending upon your interests. If you need restaurant recommendations prior to arrival, I am happy to assist.
If your party is larger than two (i.e. a 3rd person, or a child) please contact us in advance to discuss folding bed and extra linens in the closet prior to your arrival.
Rates may be slightly higher during major events including AT&T Pro-Am, Concours d'Elegance, US Open, etc. Feel free to contact me - if I can make it work, I will.
I live in the main house. Though we do clean the studio thoroughly between guests, you should be aware that we are a dog-friendly property. I use scent-free laundry detergent on all of the towels and linens and line-dry the sheets when ever possible.

Interaction with guests
I'm accessible and friendly yet unobtrusive. I travel, so I may or may not be in the main house. If I am home, I will hopefully meet you! I'm available for any questions or concerns via text or phone. (Also the FAQ Binder is very thorough.)
Peek of the Monterey Bay - quiet, sunny! Situated in a residential neighborhood on a hill at the top of a dead-end street so low traffic and easy parking right in front of the house.
Car is best. Uber is great and we now have Lyft. Also, the app "Open Table" is very helpful for local restaurants.
Other things to note
Note: cats are no longer on the property. It is strictly a cat-free zone.
PETS: Pooches permitted with prior approval at $29. per pet, per visit. If you have brought your dog (with prior approval and $29. pet fee), please see section in FAQ binder in the room pertaining to pet policies. Pets are not permitted on the furniture, unless you have covered with your own protective covering. Pets may not be left unattended on the back patio without permission.
CHECK-IN/OUT: Earliest check-in is 3pm, checkout is by 11am. If you require special consideration for early check-in or late check-out, please inquire at time of booking; we will try to accommodate you. However, we need time between visits to get the studio cleaned and ready for our next guest.
KITCHEN: The studio does not have a full kitchen, nor is it intended for serious cooking; heating up food in the microwave or toaster oven is fine. There's also a small fridge, coffee maker and hot water pot. Please do not bring your own electrical cooking appliances to use in the studio. Please see listing for details.
SHOELESS: We ask that you please leave your shoes at the door. :)
PARKING: Please park right in front of the house (not across the street from the house and not in the driveway.)
SMOKING: No smoking of any kind in the studio. Smoking permitted outside on the patio only.
- Upon leaving, we would appreciate if you would strip the bed of the sheets and pillow cases. Thanks in advance!
