Interaction with Guests
I enjoy being in the hospitality business and am often available to answer questions or provide assistance.
I usually offer fresh fruit and yogurt smoothies and/or steel cut oats along with the usual fruit/yogurt fare. I respect a guests right and need for privacy and try to provide space for that as well.
This little neighborhood is a gem! the back yard is wooded with a path that leads to a little park and creek. You can quickly find your way to shopping, interstate access, parks and recreation.
There is a bus service within two blocks that goes downtown and to the mall. It is great for the Lyndon/St. Matthews area, however, it takes about an hour to go downtown by bus and the service time lengthens in the late afternoon. L'Ville is catching up fast on becoming a "bicycle friendly" city and has many really good bike routes/trails. I have no problem picking up/dropping off from airport. There is also online car services such as "Uber" and "Taxify" in the area.
Other Things to Note
Louisville is fast creating a great space for bicyclists. Soon, we will have completed the "100 mile loop".
Check out the web for "The Parklands of Floyds Fork". Pack your bike or kayak (or running shoes) and stay an extra day! I have a bike/helmet/lock available for use and soon will have a bike rack as well! Also has a great Waterfront Park and Pedestrian Bridge to Indiana near the downtown area.
I expect myself to be a kind, courteous concierge in service to my guests and I sincerely hope that my guests will be courteous and respectful of myself and my home. Smoking outdoors only.
Janice was a terrific host, providing lots of information about how to spend my time in Louisville and great directions on how to get places on scenic routes. She suggested a couple things that I'll use in freelance stories I'll write from the visit.
Comfy and cozy accurately describes my stay with Janice. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. A neighbor helped me get piles of snow off my car at 6 in the morning! I will, and have stayed at Janice's place several times.
Janice was very friendly and accomodating. I needed a place to sleep while in Louisville for an archery tournament and her place worked great. Breakfast was ready for me when I had to leave at 5:30 am and the neighborhood was quite for sleeping. The oatmeal with apples and walnuts was the best I've ever had. She even left out the raisins at my request. I would stay there again.
Janice is a great host and she made for a great experience in Louisville. Everything was laid out very thoughtfully in the room, and the overall experience staying here was far superior to that of a regular hotel. Definitely listen to her recommendations on nearby places to go!
Janice was so friendly and open!
The bed we slept in was so comfortable and she made us very special oatmeal AND raspberry smoothies in the morning!
The water pressure in the shower was awesome and her dog Charlie was sweet.
Janice has created a lovely home setting for those of us who are working or studying or sight-seeing in Louisville. I keep being surprised at how enjoyable her guests are. Thank you Jan for your heartful hosting.
