Interaction with Guests
I enjoy being in the hospitality business and am often available to answer questions or provide assistance.
I like to prepare fresh, cooked breakfasts when it suits them. I respect a guests right and need for privacy and try to provide space for that as well.
This little neighborhood is a gem! the back yard is wooded with a path that leads to a little park and creek. You can quickly find your way to shopping, interstate access, parks and recreation.
There is a bus service within two blocks that goes downtown and to the mall. It is great for the Lyndon/St. Matthews area, however, it takes about an hour to go downtown by bus and the service time lengthens in the late afternoon. L'Ville is catching up fast on becoming a "bicycle friendly" city and has many really good bike routes/trails. I have no problem picking up/dropping off from airport. There is also online car services such as "Uber" and "Taxify" in the area.
Other Things to Note
Louisville is fast creating a great space for bicyclists. Soon, we will have completed the "100 mile loop".
Check out the web for "The Parklands of Floyds Fork". Pack your bike or kayak (or running shoes) and stay an extra day! I have a bike/helmet/lock available for use and soon will have a bike rack as well! Also has a great Waterfront Park and Pedestrian Bridge to Indiana near the downtown area.
I expect myself to be a kind, courteous concierge in service to my guests and I sincerely hope that my guests will be courteous and respectful of myself and my home. Smoking outdoors only.
Janice is a great host in a great home. I've stayed with her multiple times and she provides a great place to stay when away from home. She's very welcoming, very flexible, and if I have any concerns or questions she's very quick to make changes or accommodate my needs. Super Host!
This is a very quiet and safe setting within a large metropolis--I was very pleasantly surprised by the lack of traffic noise and the "country feel" of the neighborhood. Janice and I emailed back and forth several times and she answered all my questions very quickly so I would know exactly how to locate her house since I had to arrive late at night. She gave me a quick tour of her home and made refreshments available in case I wanted anything before retiring. Her dog was happy to meet me and truly seemed like another member of the family. Janice made sure I had everything I needed and let me wind down in my own private area of the house. The house was quiet and I slept well. In the morning I was served the hearty breakfast I had requested--it was filling and delicious! Due to my busy schedule, I was only able to see my host the night I arrived and in the mornings, so I was glad we were able to linger over breakfast and visit some before I had to leave each day. I also enjoyed having her join me for a concert I was attending Sat. night. Over all, it was a very pleasant stay and I would return here in the future.
This was my first airbnb experience and Janice made it a great one! Both her, her home, and the room were all warm and inviting with many small, but well appreciated, touches. Would highly recommend it to anyone.
Janice was so sweet. She stayed later than expected at her house to greet because I forgot about the time change! She also made a point to tell me how to work everything and what unique spots I could go see:) I felt so welcome and safe as a lone traveler. The room was really cozy and the space heater made it nice and warm despite the frigid temperature outside.
Jan's home is beautifully decorated. We are just amazed!! Lovely plants and gorgeous little artifacts everywhere. The room is gorgeous, more beautiful than the pictures suggest. Jan was very gracious to set up both a heater and humidifier because it was very cold in Louisville that day. Her restaurant recommendations are great. And we especially appreciate her serving homemade breakfast and chatted with us in the evening as well as during breakfast. Will definitely stay there again the next time we are in the area!
Janice has a wonderfully inviting home and an even more inviting personality! We only stayed overnight for our last leg of a road trip and by the time we left in the morning we were planning on when we could come back to stay and explore the city more!
Janice was a fantastic host for my friend and I. We arrived somewhat late (10pm) but Janice was able to recommend a local restaurant that was still open (left a note about it in her communal travelers diary, another great aspect of the stay). There were snacks, fruit, water, a space heater, a humidifier, etc. available to us during our [overnight] stay. In the morning Janice made us a breakfast and we chatted for a few hours about our trip and life in general. The room was, as advertised, Comfy and Cozy. There is also a private guest bathroom. And when I forgot my cell phone charger at her home, she sent it back to me! I would highly recommend staying with Janice, she is an exceptionally hospitable person who is completely deserving of the "Superhost" title.
