Location

Union Pier, Michigan, United States

Located not far from "downtown" Union Pier and Lake Michigan, but feels secluded. Off a private road with just a few homes set among thick woods along the ravines of the Galien River. Woodland birds, black squirrels, wild turkeys, fox, and deer are frequent visitors.

Easy access to I-94 and just off Red Arrow Highway, which is the main road through the Harbor Country towns. Lake Michigan is a pleasant 25-30 minute walk; several public beaches are a short drive away. There are numerous options for hiking very close by, and a public access site for kayaks and canoes on the Galien River is nearby. Besides nature, the area has a great selection of excellent restaurants, breweries, shops, casinos, and numerous local wineries--some with surprisingly good wine! Plenty of kid- and family-friendly things to do as well.

We live in Chicago, when not at our second home. . My partner and I love travel, meeting new people, having new experiences. We enjoy getting to know new cities but also enjoy the outdoors: hiking is a passion of mine. Favorite travel destinations are Northern Michigan, the American Southwest (AZ and NM) and Europe. "We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us."
