This was the most amazing place I've ever stayed. It was myself, my husband, and our two year old toddler. It's really unbelievable walking into the cottage, the attention to detail is overwhelming. The kitchen is fully stocked, there's music, and info/books about the island at hand. Ron was away, but Karen was great. My husband got a horrible sunburn during one of our adventures and Karen brought down fresh aloe and ibuprofen for him, brought down fresh towels when we needed them, and was full of useful information about what to do in the area with the baby. We loved the geckos and sweet Purry, and even let our resident spiders stay where they were, because they weren't bothering anybody and never even moved really. We were here during storm seasoned Karen was really helpful in easing my anxiety when we started getting flash flood warnings and a power outage. There is so much to do in this little paradise, and the neighborhood/locals are all so very friendly. Manini beach is beautiful, and Auntie Sandy will provide you with produce from the community garden if you ask. To Kayak across the bay, you find local Vaughn, who has the best launching point and will get you to Captain Cook Monument with no issues. To have breakfast with the turtles, pack up your favorites and head down the road to the Place of Refuge. Annie's Burgers, Gypsea Gelato, and Choice Mart were some of our favorite places. If you get the chance to stay here, please do! It's a once in a lifetime experience, and you'll thank yourself! Thank you Karen!
The place is good, beside the bay, with a park. Karen is very nice and friendly, even though I broke her light.....the cat perry is nice to the guests. Everything is fine.
me and my husabnd fell in loved with the place right away! wish we could stay there longer~~
the place is beautiful and even better than the pictures~
we loved staying there so much~
This air bnb was totally unique and completely magic, like a jungle hideaway. Loved the outside kitchen and shower. Great snorkeling just outside the house. Look forward to coming back.
The cottage was even lovelier than we expected and all of the kitchen amenities (garlic press!) meant we could make ourselves gourmet meals in paradise. What a phenomenally beautiful place to explore. We used this as a base from which to snorkel Captain Cook Monument and Place of Refuge (where we encountered 50+ spinner Dolphins!). LOVE the decor, the surfboards decorating every room, and the outdoor private shower!
We had a wonderful time at Kealakekua Bay. We enjoyed the open balistyled cottage very much - it is something special and adventurous - unforgettable! We liked the sound of the ocean and the closeness to nature. It is the perfect place to go swimming with the dolphins and to explore the bay by SUP or kayak. Karen was a very friendly and attentive host. When ever coming back to Kealakekua Bay, this is definitively our place to stay again. But if you look for a standard hotelroom... this is not your place. This is a real alternative gem! Thanks a lot to Karen - Mahalo, Andrea & Christoph
Our wonderful experience at the Bali Cottage, was beyond what my wife and I ever could have imagined. From the outdoor shower to the best sleep we have ever had, anywhere! Karen was very welcoming, genuine, and very resectful of our privacy. She responded to our questions/requests promptly before and during our stay. We enjoyed our many conversations with her as well. She and her husband have mantained this place and the tropical garden/yard beautifully. The location is perfect for traversing the island. Manini beach is wonderful, and extremely close. If you rent an kayak make sure you rent from a legal company. Don't let illegal rental companies/"people with kayaks" overtake this wonderful seaside neighborhood. We had no problems with mongoose, cleanliness, or amenities. Everything was top notch. There are beach chairs, snorkel equipment, a cooler, beach towels, bug spray/candles, etc. Lastly, this place is not for everyone, but those who are open for an unforgettable and true Hawaiian experience this is the place for you. Thanks again Karen, we will see you soon.
